Thank you Sir for your video, I found it helpful. I have a mid-grade Drill Doctor, which works great for most of my need, but when I need to sharpen 120 degree Spot drills then I need a bit more versatility, which is when the Deckel clone comes out. I have yet to use it, but sometime this week I will sharpen those Spot drills. Thanks again!

I have had one of these machines now for a few years but have never used the drill grinding attachment only looked at it a few times wondering how to use it. I thought I would take a moment to learn. I enjoyed your video and your instruction, however it seems to be fiddley and time consuming so I will continue to hand sharpen as I have done for the last 50 years.

Great instructional video. I have looked at this same d-bit grinder from Hare and Forbes but didn't realise one could sharpen drill bit .. question do you think you could sharpen large drill bit up to 30 with MT 3 shank? If not what machine would handle this task? Hand sharpening the big ones is tricky.... Paul

This size drill bit benefits from split edge, in Australia the name of these is Viper. The method shown does not produce that …

I've searched and searched, but I have no idea how to make those plates on the end. You mentioned the stock one is too big for small drills, to small for large ones, so which size is it good for? If I knew I could at least use it as an example...

Hi friends: There appears to be two different styles of drill sharpening attachments with these clone machines. The tips at the business end of this and Luc' s have the alignment plate running parallel with the center line of the pivot. On the other style this tear drop shaped plate is cocked at an angle slightly less than perpendicular to the center line. The tear drop plate is rotated until the cutting edge is parallel with the center line of the pivot pin. The drill trough is also cocked at an angle other than 90 degrees to this center line. At this date I have no idea which works better or is easier .......both styles are on offer in the shopping portals, so look carefully if you are shopping for one of these gadgets.

Can you tell me what youtuber (Luke?) who did a video on sharpening drill bits that you mention taught you how as well as how he made the adapters for different sized drill bits?

To sum up my appraisal of this type of machine....I used to have a Deckel SO..... it's not really suitable for general tool grinding at the prices asked as you can do all the grinding on a bench grinder with just a tilting tool rest......the original concept by Deckel was specifically aimed at D bit grinding but people though it was a good idea to attempt universal tool grinding too for which it fell very short.

I don’t like the idea of holding the larger bits by hand. It’s too easy to slip. I don’t have one of these, though I’ve been thinking about it, but it seems that there should be a way to make a mod for the holder for bigger bits.
