No, it's true; the majority of music made in the '90s was disappointing shit. It's quite perplexing too, considering how absolutely fantastic music was in the '70s and '80s. The '90s certainly foreshadowed the rapid decline of music quality in the new millennium.

The late 90s is probably my favorite era of music alongside the early 2000s. Either that or it's the time period from which I have the most music. I mean, with Blur's self-titled and 13, Air's Moon Safari, Radiohead's OK Computer, Beck's Odelay, Mutations, and Midnite Vultures, Moby's Play, Massive Attack's Mezzanine, Fatboy Slim's You've Come a Long Way Baby, Tortoise's TNT, Supergrass's In It For the Money, The Verve's Urban Hymns, Portishead's self-titled, David Bowie's Earthling, and more, I can't say it was an unfruitful time.

The 90s was the start of the downfall of music leading to what we have today.

Most British comics never get video game adaptations sadly, it's just Judge Dredd that had any real gaming presense.

raakone - At the time the movie came out, most of these blockbusters had vide game tie ins. I wouldn't the least bit surprised to learn a Tank Girl video game was in preproduction, but got quickly cancelled.

I was really young when my Mum gave my Megadrive away and she just threw everything into a bag, I'm assuming that Greendog was in a drawer or something since I ended up finding it years later, so it was more of an accident than anything =P

She didn't throw it away, she gave it to a family friend and they played on it for some years because I'd got a PS1 at the time so of course most parents back then didn't understand that different consoles played different games and thus I was to be without a Mega Drive.

Depends on what computer you're talking about, like, the X68000 and the FM Towns sure were able to bring some arcade-quality games home, but they were massively expensive... On the other hand you have stuff like the PC-98 and the MSX, where the mere ability to scroll the screen is impressive in and of itself... Not exactly what I'd call "Impressive for the time", especially when you consider what the 16 bit consoles were up to at the same time... Oh well, at least they had really neat FM synth soundchips!

Literally came down to mention the same thing. Geograph Seal has some of my favorite music ever and Aquales is just a great pure fun game. Always wanted to see Larry do a video on the X68000.

I've only played these two a little bit, so I'm not too familiar with them or their soundtracks... On the X68k I'm especially fond of games like Street Fighter II, Strider, Final Fight, Granada, Sol Feace, Etoile Princesse, and my favourite, Asuka 120% Burning Fest!

The X68000 was a monster, it literally was used to develop arcade games by big name companies like Capcom! No wonder most ports for the system were arcade perfect, and that the damn thing was so expensive too. I don't know too much about the FM Towns, but I was given the impression it is more or less on the same level as the PC Engine CD, which is pretty impressive too I have to say. Besides that, most japanese computers from the 80s were comparable with european microcomputers of the same time on a technical level, more or less. I'd bet there are at least some ports of the same games for both european and japanese systems that are almost identical to each other (correct me if I'm wrong).

I'm not too familiar with the FM Towns, but from what I've heard it's probably even more powerful and capable than the X68000, and I think it came with a built-in CD drive which was pretty amazing at the time! So yeah, it pretty much far surpasses the PCECD in terms of specs, it just didn't have the same support from devs the PCE did, but with it being a MUCH cheaper console that was already in the hands of millions of Japanese gamers by the time the FM Towns released, that's hardly a surprise... As for comparing them to European microcomputers, I honestly think they're far too different... I could write a whole article about just how different they were, but to keep it short, the Japanese had very different priorities when it comes to what a computer should be able to do from western people, and I'm not talking about video games, I'm talking about word processing, spreadsheets and so on, and these different priorities affected several aspects about how games were developed for home computers in Europe and Japan... The closest thing we ever got to a computer that bridged the gap between European and Japanese devs was the MSX, because as you might be aware, that system was actually released and successful in both regions!
