😟Our First NEGATIVE Airbnb Review...👎 

i find it entirely rude to destroy someone elses home/business. hearing someone burned a hole in your table, and drawing on the kids toys, hearing something is broken every time you go visit, its so ridiculous. i wish people would have more respect for something that is not theirs. you put so much time, effort and hard work into that cabin, it should be respected. im sorry that you had to deal with someone who seems to be very hard to please. a minor inconvenience shouldnt lead to an overall nasty review. i havent stayed at your cabin ( although id love to ) but i can just tell that it is VERY MUCH five star worthy. 💙

Her name is de-zire-re, LOL That cracked me up! I would not let that review get to you. Look how many people have stayed there and this is the 1st complaint, but you did everything you could to try and make her happy. There are people out there that will never be pleased! I’ve worked in hotels and at Airbnb resorts for the past 10 years. If one person won’t pay full price, someone else will. Don’t let it get to you. You can’t please every person. The good thing is that she let you know what is wrong so you can fix those issues! Love you guys! Stay positive!

I have stayed in in short term rentals years ago I think this is we’re I saw this…. Or it could be my idea who knows but make a kitchen inventory sheet and tape it on the inside of pantry door. That way a guess could see it and know what you should have when looking. So if they can’t find it then they can let you know. Also good reference for y’all to look over when visiting to make sure everything is there. Make sure it list the number of spoons, forks, ….. and on your private listing what type of knifes you left. Also take pictures of each cabinet and kitchen draws when you leave.

You’ll never be able to make everyone happy. A negative review was bound to happen eventually. At least you tried to be helpful to the guest and are trying to fix any “issues” she had.

It didn’t seem too negative but i can understand how it must be frustrating because you tried everything to accommodate her when she addressed you with every problem. Some people expect things to be perfect while we’re all human trying our best!

As someone who works in a hotel, there are going to be people who you can't please. Quite often we will have people who complain about the smallest things and really they're looking to be miserable despite everyone trying their best to make their stay as warm and inviting as possible. Perhaps it might be better for those people to remove themselves from the situation where they feel they can't be happy; I know for us we're not offended if they choose to and we're more concerned that they enjoy their trip than if we lose out on a certain amount of profit and we would still try to help them find the best option for them if we're able to. At the end of the day though, some people don't want to remove themselves from those situations that make them unhappy and would prefer to vent towards the people who didn't live up to their expectations. I wouldn't take it personally, it's clearly something on them, not you guys and you did the best you could in spite of it.

Remember when God asked Abraham to take his son he finally got after a hundred years to take him to a mountain and sacrifice him. In the end Abraham did what God said and started to sacrifice him no matter how much Abraham loved him he did what God said. Then God stopped him just before he sacrificed him and told him not to do it. God told him he was just testing him to see if he would do what he said. Sometimes we have things we really love and God tests us to see if we love them more than we do him. I don't know maybe he is testing you with your cabin.

I think that's a fair review if things needed addressing. I've been thinking about booking it with y'all and it didn't deter me.

And even if everything it said had been true, the fact that you paid someone to personally deliver a pack of knives to the cabin was probably more than most Airbnb owners would do. It sounds like you genuinely tried to handle the situation as best as you could, so don't get discouraged if your efforts go unappreciated. No Airbnb is flawless but your cabin seems pretty great! Bad reviews are frustrating, especially when exaggerated. We have a small business, so I get that. I will say though, even when I'm only staying somewhere for a couple nights, I would like to have access to a broom and a mop (at least a swiffer wet jet) to clean up basic messes after children. As well as a vacuum if there is a lot of carpet/rugs.

I think a lot of people would see through a complaint like that. I know if I read that I wouldn't think too much about it. I just recently made my first trip to Broken Bow and Hochatown. Crazy that it took me until I was 45 when I grew up in a town only 45 minutes away. I called my parents up and got on to them for never taking me there growing up. Cute area though. Plan on going back.

EDIT: Your response was good. And there is NOT one negative thing said about your cabin anywhere else. Trust me I have stayed in some dumps. And they've lacked a LOT. And usually you're on your own. Things can happen where minor things are not perfect. But you addressed them swiftly. She should have mentioned all you did to accommodate her requests. You can't please everyone. Address it in the description if needed. That you will be happy to serve their needs. Its a great cabin. People are stressed, need a vacation and have extremely high expectations.

Use this as a learning tool. Can you respond to her comment? If so tell her you are so sorry for things that were missing and you to note and came to replace all missing silverware. Then add the two door in question have been fixed. Thank her for letting you know. With every negative thing add a positive but make sure it all stays positive and not defensive. Other future rentals will pick up on it. If I was looking for a rental and saw her comment and then say a positive response and would then consider it not a issues anymore on keep looking. Good luck! Remember all negative things in life is something to turn into a positive.

Don’t let the one review get you down Sam. I know it’s easier said than done, but that lady clearly is one that tries to find anything wrong in any situation. The silverware situation happens at A LOT OF Airbnb places. She clearly is making smaller things a bigger deal than they need to be.

Think they were probably covering themselves for all the damage they had caused. The dolls house drawn on the burnt whole the thing your son said he found chopped in half. Some people just twist things around incase of any come back for when their wrongs are found and they have to pay or some people just look for things in hope you will give them a refund. I think it sounds like you are lucky they are not wanting to return and with the work they have left for you I think they would be very very lucky if you even let them back. They should of left a letter of apology not a poor review. Stay positive don't let people ruin what brings you and everyone else that stays there joy 😉

LITERALLY ALL the complaints she had wrote, to me anyways, its not truely a necessity per say. It's stuff she could have lived without for a week. If it was months thats different but a week. She must be high maintenance or just a complainer maybe. The front door sure, thats a safety thing, but as Nia said, bottom locked still. Everything else, like oh my gosh. But on a good note, atleast she did have good reviews too so I give her that.

To me, that review wasn't negative at all. If I own a Airbnb and customers told me what I need for it I would really appreciate it and get the items.

Some people are never happy with anything. Sounds like she went around looking for all the negative she could find. I mean I could see knocking off 1 or 2 stars but still keeping it mostly positive. Because nothing sounded really like very serious issues at all. People will see all the positive reviews and then just see the one and realize after reading it they were one of those kind of people.

Abram is a great handyman. A cute one at that. Sam you can please some of the people some of the time but not all the people all the time. If you have missing silverware it probably walked out the door. Some people just want to be a grouch. If the Lord came down from heaven they would find something wrong with him and we know he's perfect. They would argue the devil is a groundhog. Love you guys. Don't let it bother you because that's Satan trying to get to you. 🙏

I'm proof of that, though it's hurt immensely at first - because it's like a personal gut punch to the abdomen - .... but once us ( humans ) realize and notice what it's meant to do, trust me - it's gonna become a buffer towards you. Guys, that individual sounds like a lazy person, so what if there wasn't no mixer as was stated, couldn't ( whatever ) was being done, be prepared by hand?, oh gosh man - I mean, sure you pay for an experience - ... and I'm sure it was felt. I'm a subscriber, and also a person who knows a little manual labour won't kill. Don't even take that personally, that's just one negitive review - ... and I'm certain it came from those who probably doesn't even know what dust looks like?. You worked hard on " WILD SYMPHONY ", we watched you cut hugh trees, craft and design each and every post etc - that's incredibly tough work. Could've that ungrateful person did what was done?, NO!!! - ... so, they ( whoever ) should've just take the time to admire and be thankful instead of being a complaining cry baby :(., but like I said, negitive comments helps us grow. Don't react too strongly to her (I think you have) . It's not such a negative review. She acknowledges you ordering the cutlery. She mostly feels like not going there again. Well, that may be. Such reviews happen.

Some people have exacting standards that can never be fully met. She more than likely spent the entire trip looking for problems and fuming about what she considered to be unforgivable faults in the cabin. People like that can never be pleased and will always complain no matter how hard you try to please them. I think the cabin is amazing and having watched all the time spent building it into what It is today, I appreciate how wonderful it is even more! If I lived in Texas, I would be honored to stay there!

Oh bummer on the negative review. Can't make everyone happy I guess. We rented a 5 bedroom Airbnb in TN over the summer. 5 adults and 3 children. There were only 4 forks and 4 spoons, lol. Thought it was a little nuts assuming who would rent a big house like that for only 4 people. Had to take turns eating breakfast (we ate the other meals out). Oh well, we didn't write it in the review but did give it as a suggestion to the owner. Beautiful cabin btw.

I know how upsetting it must be to have your rating record messed up by a seemingly nit-picking customer. But I'm sure most Airbnb cabins (or any Airbnb houses) that have been in business a long time, get their share of not-always-great reviews. I had a store on Amazon for a few years and I was overly concerned when there was a couple of non perfect star ratings, as if it would destroy my business! The sellers who do the most sells, have the most 1 or 2 star ratings. And yet in the end, people use their own judgement. Reviews aren't always the best reliability in making a purchase. Especially when the good reviews outweigh the bad by far. The review you read, sounded as if the customer was satisfied on big things, just picked on matters that most customers wouldn't even have given a care . Look at it this way, many people don't trust it when there's ONLY perfect reviews!

Sounds like she wanted a discount...I'm sure a stay that long was pricy and she went through...nic picking....do t let it discourage you...it's a beautiful cabin❤️🙏

I feel like out of 140 something reviews only one somewhat negative take it for what it is some people can never be please no matter what you do and some will always point out the “bad” stuff even if the good outweighs the bad you could have probably gone up there yourself to fix everything and it still would not be enough. Also some people like to complain because they know there is a chance they could get a discount!
