Today, ‪@YourRichBFF‬ is going to debunk the myth that's running around Tiktok called "GIRL MATH." Women face enough stereotypes about being bad with money. This harmful stereotype not only reinforces gender inequality in finance, but also perpetuates the notion that women are inherently bad with money. And it is SIMPLY 👏 NOT 👏TRUE 👏

FYI, there is no federally required curriculum for public schools. If you want it taught in your local schools, let your school district know. It is more effective than hoping for the feds to fix it. Also, you might be surprised that it is taught.

THANK YOU for not reposting any clips (from what I watched) of this BS and just dropping knowledge. Personally I’m on a low buy/no buy stretch of months after getting a full grasp of my financial situation in comparison to my long term financial goals. I had to face reality and trends like these strongly reinforce my decision to stop using social media apps like instagram, twitter and Tik tok (shudders).

I'm a single mum who became a homeowner last year. It was a huge milestone for me! On top of that, I'm also fortunate enough to have a pretty decent monthly income through my successful strategic investments. As a result, I have carefully planned for my retirement after my kids are done with college

Understanding the intricacies of investing is crucial. That's why it's important to have a reliable support system, such as a financial consultant, who can guide you, especially when it comes to selecting assets. Personally, I work with Alex martin tarlor, an investment advisor who collaborates with a licensed wealth management firm. I must say that my financial journey has been exceptional under his guidance. Alex is widely recognized for his excellent services, so you may already be familiar with him.

Managing money is different from accumulating wealth, and the lack of investment education in schools may explain why people struggle to maintain their financial gains. The examples you provided are relevant, and I personally benefited from the market crisis, as I embrace challenging times while others tend to avoid them. Well, at least my advisor does too, jokingly

Just a little addition to the pay differences in those companies, women take more time off on average and don't usually work the same hours as men. This factors into that so called total. Also we have not been taught how to negotiate our salaries.

I don't know about women managing their money better than men. Sure, I think women can manage their money. Also, occasionally you find "girl math" ideas that are actually smart. The insurance premiums are calculated not based only on whom causes the most accidents. Regarding single women buying homes, do they have help from the parents? That's another issue you're not talking about. Or are they divorced? If they were upper class or even upper middle class, that divorce can help them with buying a home. The funny part is that women take on debt to go to college but often go to humanities and if it's not languages (translators and such), there won't be much demand for their qualifications. They will end up doing something else. That also explains why men don't graduate as much. Men go to STEM fields more. Regarding women being hired for high paying jobs, you have to take DEI into account. There was a study by some feminists about this. They basically changed the voices and speech patterns of men and women. Women ended up getting the job far less in those cases. If men apply more for the same jobs, sure there's a bigger chance a guy with fewer qualifications will apply. Thing is if women start doing that too, there's a pretty big chance a woman with half or a third of your qualifications will do that too. How are you going to teach personal finance if they don't know math? Personal fonance is not the most important subject in school. You definitely need reading also. You also need math.

There was a lot of girl power in this video! Made me think of a long Big Think monologue with author Richard Reeves from earlier this year that discusses a lot of the data you went through (and a ton more) on how young men are increasingly falling behind women today in just about everything, how the tables have completely turned since the 70's, and how we're heading towards a crisis in the other direction of men being hopelessly far behind due to the modern world much more favoring success for stereotypes instilled on women compared with men (notably in education, but also other areas). Would recommend a listen (on YT): "Why men and boys are struggling | Richard Reeves" I know Viv loves girl power, but the data in this video points to young men needing the financial wisdom she dispenses just as much or more. Great content as usual though, even if this video felt a bit heavy on shaming my gender.

Women aren’t better with money men subsidize their social lives allowing them to save more. Think dating and social norms that require “good” men to pay for mostly everything. So on paper it would appear women manage their money better without taking into account how much they save by having a significant other. Also women are more likely to get parental help than men because societally speaking we don’t shame women for living at home while they save and they are looked at as more worthy of help. Men are expected to do it on their own because it’s more manly. So many things wrong with this analysis

I bought my first home in 2019 with an FHA loan as a single mom. I sold it 2 years later bought a better home and remodeled it, created an in laws quarter for rental income, put new impact windows and doors and had to redo the roof and ac will be out of debt in about 3 years. Purchased my leased car, once the debt is paid off the car will be paid off in less than 2 years. Then that money will go to the savings account of 4% APY, mortgages principal and Roth IRA. I plan to be debt free even after having education (paid that loan off a long time ago) my home and car. Goals! Dedication! Consistency, keep your eye on the prize! Financial freedom! I wish to work part time in less than 10 years. I’m currently 40. Had to make sacrifices, not swimming in money just cutting out unnecessary expenses and controlling shopping.

I find very few men managing money in their household these days. Among my collegues I found its the women doing the financials, securing the needs and trying to keep debt manageable. Women manage family budget money better because she's more than likely a single mom and takes her responsibilities seriously OR has an impulsive manchild partner who cannot live without his toys, the latest iphone, have to show up his buddies when going out to lunch or on a guy's weekend and doesn't manage kids so he doesn't have a clue and couldn't care less about other people's needs, wants and priorities. She is more likely to want life insurance, health care benefits and a retirement plan and will go to work to get it if he won't.
