My manager is French. He was shouting at me in a meeting last week, unfairly I might add. I am half Irish, so I particularly enjoyed this game, and will make sure to mention it to him next week at work. Thanks Ireland...you keep rolling on!
Great to see humble responses from French rugby fans. I grew up watching France thrash us on the regular. Good to see these 2 teams now in the conversation for competing for world cups.
It's The fact that Joe McCarthy got player of the Match on his debut just tells you How healthy Irish Rugby is at the moment. The strength & depth of this squad in the last few years is just ridiculous.
@@DRAGONS147 McCarthy is exceptional but our depth is not across the whole team. I would be worried about the front row for sure. We'll enjoy tonight though!
What great French fan's!!!, no begrudge-rs, no blaming the ref, just was not there night, but I am sure there will be a reaction for the better against Scotland. still a great french team with great players.
I am very impressed with Ireland and have been for a number of years now, as for France i was really surprised at how poor they were Infront of their own supporters, if it was away from home i would be less surprised however i haven't seen that level of performance from France since Galthie took over it was really lethargic and indisciplined for most of the match.
As a french fan..felicitation à l'equipe d'Irlande..now french team n'etait pas au niveau and irland team a été vive, efficace...where was the french team ??
I agree. This is not the magnificent France we saw at the World Cup, I think the difference was psychological. Ireland have remained positive after their World Cup experience but France are still a bit deflated and disappointed. It happens, but France will be back.
Sorry mate but that couldn't be further from the truth when you look at Ireland and the history of WC performances. There just isn't enough pressure and attrition for it to compare with the WC and there lies the problem. But I suppose it's the same for everyone, isn't it ?
Even though Ireland won which is great, but i expected an entertaining and tense game. France were a let down. Expected the game of the year sort of match
This fixture never disappoints Willemse is very very lucky to stay on the pitch after that first yellow A shoulder to the head normally get you a straight red I think ref used his discretion because it was 9 Minutes into the game Cowley and berine both deserved POTM but well done Joe probably 1st of many POTM Performances in his career
A bloodless coup, it was 🙂Ireland dominated close quaters exchanges, repelling french in every facet of play, with set peice precision and an unstoppable rolling maul , Ireland were simply too good in french rugby heartland of Marseille . Red card or not, Ireland were too strong on the night. Congradulations to squad on a total performance in this 6nations opener. 👏
Well if there was ever clear head shots there was 2 clear as day. Ref and the game had no other choice but yellow. Clearly this player need’s coaching as for ‘it to happen once is a mistake twice means something wrong’
I would Absolutely Agree. A Great Brain 🧠 of Logic & Honesty. To be Honest. I Always Classed Ronan Ahead Of Sexton. To be honest also. Ireland Mistreated Him. He knows it Too. 😳🤔
I agree with you Josh. That was supposed to be our toughest test in this year's 6 Nations and we came through it with ease. If we continue to play like that then back to back grand slams is truly on the cards. (something that was never done before) We have three home games next & then on to England in Twickenham. We fear No one.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Scotland are on the up the list few years and I think could possibly be the dark horse if we get complacent. Stay humble!!
@@sndennisonyeah, I bloody hate when people say stuff like that. We've 4 more games and last year an incredibly French team nearly got humbled by Italy and just managed to rescue it last minute.
Actually if the World Cup Organizers had done their Job Properly. Ireland & France would have been in the Semifinals at Least. I have no Doubt about That. 🤔🧐
The keystone of the French team is Dupont and I think France changed their entire gameplan based on his absence. Ireland kept the ball in play, and tactically switched the point of attack to skillful forwards who could attack spaces between defenders nullifying France's intended ferocity. If France had stayed at 15 players, their set piece may have started telling and they could have ground themselves back into the game. On the whole France's game plan underestimated Ireland. If they were playing South Africa or New Zealand, they would surely not have had such a simplistic plan.
I'm a french supporter and I predicted Ireland's win by at least 15 points and here's why : I based my thesis on the deeply structured complex and rigid game system that Ireland has which seemingly Galthié hasn't been able to build so far. For me it was clear that mourning our loss of the WC in 3 months was an impossible task to achieve. We haven't talked about any Rugby philosophy and where we want to go stylistically speaking, none of that shit was spoken in the media. Galthié hid in some village in France... escaping the mere responsibility that he might have had in this RWC debacle... I'm beyond pissed off. The philosophy and game system helped Ireland build on their WC defeat BUT it was really emotionally packed for you guys too. And to me, this is precisely where there is a world apart between France and Ireland. IRELAND HOLD IT THE FUCK DOWN - stood strong on their fundamentals, their game system, their vision of the game and their philosophy. We were absolutely outclassed. Needless to mention that We've always had this tendency to start the 6N really wobbly and inconsistently. The lack of Dupont, Ntamack, Meafou and Flament hurt us but in the same context, I'm not sure it would have made a big difference. This team works on surfing on the highs, when we surf on the highs, we know we can beat anyone. My only hope is that moving forward, we are going to FOCUS on the CONTENT of the game, and never EVER abandoning this idea of improving and solidifying our strengths regardless of the scoreboard at the end. Galthié keeps on mentioning 80% Victory rate between 2019 and 2023, but this argument is pointless. Our problems are deep and structural. SA were world champs solely by building a bit before and during the WC, how insane is their performance... The RWC 2023 was a very frustrating experience for us, with the injuries pre and during the competition... the whole Dupont debacle. It threw the staff plans off. They were clueless. And it still showed yesterday, I saw Danty really pissed off and losing his composure. But despite all of that as I said, we can't emphasize enough the fact Ireland is a better and more well-rounded rugby team than us as of today. Congratulations for dominating Europe and to be honest you are RWC 2023 Winners in my heart.
He is obviously missed but Ireland have known for a while that he was going to retire. So they too the pragmatic step and decentralised their attack play to reduce their dependence on him.
I like Gill but just a minor observation…England, France and Wales have won back to back grand slams….and it was a massive feat, regardless of Italys absence England Three times: 1913/1914; 1923/1924; 1991/1992. Wales Once: 1908 /1909. France Once: 1997/1998.
omg a red card and ireland celebrate like they won a quarter final, red card games should be humble clearly a advantage so celebrating like you won is perthectic
A bit harsh as it was his first 6 nations start especially away to france He kept his composer after a shaky start set up a couple of tries and nailed 6 kicks from 7 especially 2 big ones from the touchline but you obviously know better You are like the Finnish jury in the eurovision
this don't matter, what matters is the world cup and quarters don't make the history books ...sorry guys but it's the big one that matters. 4 years dominant dosen't count at the end of the day.
I wonder how many top tier teams while playing another top tier team have ever won playing with 14 against 15 for an entire half ? . It’s always bewildering to me why there’s such euphoria after a red card affected result.
Genuinly always give the ref the benefit of the doubt. But even with a win that comes close, but not quite, to beating the all blacks in NZ, what a refereeing/ TMO disgrace!!!!!!! Like if you agree😡
The France try they gave was a bad joke, I agree. The player clearly lost the ball over the line. The French director did his best not to show it properly. But yeah the ref and TMO got that one badly wrong. Thought they did well enough for the rest of the game. Bloody hard job tbf.
