I also had a greenie under my presson nails, have everything well removed and very lightly filed over the greenie then cleaned well with alcohol and then I put tea tree oil on it 3á4 times a day. You saw it getting less by the day . Maybe this tip will help someone!!!

The number of people conflating bacterial green with fungal green is kinda strange, considering this lady is also a professional nail tech. Can confirm greenies are bacterial and painless! And I've gotten them due to water seeping into gaps. :( It made my nails a skosh flimsier, but nothing else happened. Never treated (because it dies when murdered by acetone and air) and it never treated anywhere, crawled anywhere, or infected anything or anyone else. Fungus, however, is a brutal nightmare I've thankfully never had myself!

Eh. This bacteria group is actually huge. Can cause green or BLUE urine from UTI and it’s often the culprit of HAI, Hospital acquired infections which are often deadly. It can be found in water, soil, and in and on our skin. For most folks, yes. It’s not a big deal at all. But it can spread and does often kill.

When I see lifting and it’s a rare occasion when I have no time, I’ll grab my drill, remove the lifting, dehydrate/sanitize the small area with alcohol, then quickly cover the area in clear gel to seal things off. It doesn’t always look the best, but it prevents this issue.

I had a situation that escalated about 2 years ago. I hit my nails on my left hand twice within 2 weeks and didn't think much about it. It hurt like hell but I never suspected I had damaged them and tht I had lifting. The issue was that my gel was cover so I couldn't see what was going on underneath. When I was doing a refill, I couldn't see any lifting so I just proceeded with the application. A week later I felt burning pain in my nails and decided to remove everything to see what was going on. I had little droplets of blood under the nails that turned into brown lines as the nails were growing (about 2-3 weeks in total of growth) and the greenies started appearing. Thw problem was that because of all this my nails started separating from the nail bed...horrible. I cut them short but didn't dare remove the gel because my natural nails are as thin as paper. Slowly they were growing and I kept cutting the free edge and at one point the infection was bad. It started affecting the healthy tissue. So I used regular vinegar eveey day for 20 minutes for a week and the infection was gone finally. After this incident, if I feel something is wrong with the nail, I don't wait but take off the product immediately. If I hit my nails, O wait maximum 3 days for the pain to stop and then remove the product. I also stopped using cover gels as it is easier to see what's going on under the material when the gel is clear. I like that you show this can happen to anyone 🤍

Clear iodine is wonderful to use on nail separation from nail bed. Keep the nail dry as much as possible. After shower, dry nail and re-apply iodine. It works because iodine will work on the infection as the nail grows back.

Omg, some of the misinformation in this comment section. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Yes, it's perfectly fine to use product on a nail that has a greenie. As long as it hasn't advanced beyond what's shown here, it's fine. Make sure all the lifting is filed off and the nail has been cleaned and it'll be fine. Do not try to file off the green. You'll just end up damaging your nail. If it's worse than what's in this video or if it's black, you need a doctor's attention asap. No, your nails don't need to "breathe". They're dead tissue. They don't have lungs. They can't be repaired other than a whole new nail growing out to replace the old one. Nail products themselves do not damage your nails. The damage happens with prep, usually over-filing the natural nail prior to product application. Y'all, please seek out actual information on this issue. Misinformation can be dangerous.

@DendeDog
@DendeDog 2 года назад
I’m obviously not your target but when I was taught, acidic primers will chemically microscopically etch the nail to create the very fine texture which the product will adhere to. A non acidic primer won’t do that, it will instead act as a double sided sticky tape (called a double covalent bond) which will help adhere the product to the natural nail

@mariajones9102
@mariajones9102 2 года назад
@Eddie Wayne Its important to take a break from nail enhancements every three to six months. This will give your nails a chance to strengthen and rejuvenate and enable you to apply products and supplements that benefit their growth and strength. Breaks are especially important if your natural nails are damaged or dry to begin with. However, nail enhancements should not cause any long-term damage so long as correct preparation, maintenance (every two to three weeks), aftercare, and removal procedures are followed.

Her biggest mistake was just not immediately taking care of the lifting that happened, since her issue arose from moisture getting inside that and taking advantage of the small, warm and moist environment. Not a major issue, just a matter of procrastination, which I think a lot of nail techs experience when it comes to their own nails.
@helenam.c.4296

Actually, your hole nail is infected, just filling the green part away dont solve your problem. The process of bacteria proliferation create gases (pratical example, when we buy food we always check if the container is not swelled cause that indicates that is spoiled due to bacteria). So, is not a problem of poor manicure process with the gaps between your nail and the gel. Is just the bacteria proliferation creating gases, and creating the gaps. You need to grow your nails, use proper medication, and stay away of polishes to let the nail breathe. And also, throw away all the equipment that you use, because is infected with the bacteria. Otherwise, you will infect all the healthy nails, and never get rid of your greenies

It doesn’t go away and I guess people deal with it differently, myself personally had the experience that when it was covered it continued to grow, and a dr is the one who is the determining one in this. If you can get away with covering it then great but I you do take that chance it can eat your nail away so you can decide to do what you like but I’ve had it twice in my life in a career of 25 years and I don’t cover just simply to make sure your client or yourself has a nail to put product on after it’s grown out. That is because you can’t guarantee it’s not going to continue growing and you also don’t know what that person does in their personal life, to cause such things. It’s a set up for failure. Just my opinion of course. It’s like using mma monomer or not. I do not, it’s banned for a reason but there are still techs who use it, it’s very very bad for ones finger and can cause permanent damage but they still use it.

Hey I had a question. Hopefully you can answer. I’m somewhat new at nails and haven’t gone to school yet. I had a costumer come in with a little green dot on her nail. I used my prep and dehydrator on her. So my question is, is it ok to use those products on other clients or just throw it out and start new? I don’t want to spread it to anyone ! I disemfected mt tools but I’m unsure if I can still use my products

Y'all keep bashing her for having greenies and acting like she's unhygienic. Yet we see her customers return over and over and they never have this issue. Tatyana probably doesn't have the time to properly address her lifts, or doesn't realize she got one. She manages to get nail injuries fairly often and she may just be prone to this specific infection. I've been watching her for MONTHS and not once has she had so many people question her professionalism. If she was truly unhygienic and unprofessional, she wouldn't have the clients she does. Unless you're her client, mind your business.

I ran into this with a client. She came in with nails on from somewhere else. I took her gel polish off and 4 out of 5 fingers had green under the nail like you show here. How can you tell that isn't fungus? I didn't know how to determine it so I removed all her existing product, cleaned and dehydrated as best I could but sent her home without acrylic nails cause I didn't know how to tell if it was greenies or fungus. The entire nail bed was dark, vibrant green like moss colored

Why can't you put polish over? Why just clear for 2 weeks? I was on vacation for our 20-year anniversary at the lake up north. I fell down a hill & 4 of my nails bent back. They separated under the tip. Then, 9 days in the lake. I'm getting ready to take them off & can see dark under there. It's either blood or greenies or mold.🥺😭 I'm scared cause my nails are super unhealthy after I got over filed by a nail tech, so I decided I'd start doing them myself. Now I have to remove them, but I can't do much filling to the natural nail as they are paper thin right now. 😢

After you clean everything that green is just a stain now. Her infection was small. Also once that hits air the fungus dies. Now it's to grow it out. Yes there is a potential for bacteria to regrow. Most of the time you just got to grow it out.

Please don't. This doesn't really cures the infection, and you could end up spreading it to the other fingers, or even to your other clients. Infections need to get properly treated with medication and let to rest for a while, or your clients could end-up losing the nail completely (it happened to my mom in 3 of her fingernails)

It's most likely the pressure from the apex moving towards the free edge more and more. You may also be using too much product, which used to cause soreness for me, but there's no way to know without seeing your nails.

Gel and acrylic both shrink when they cure. It doesn’t hurt at first but your first full set is gonna be sore. It should go away after a few days and shouldn’t come back until you have the fake nails removed, spend some time with no extensions and then have a new full set put back on.

Technically there's a gel called Bio gel that is less allergenic than traditional gels. It is only available to salons that are certified to carry it, I think (at least in the US). But you could find a salon near you and have them do one nail with it to see if you react. You may also try products that strictly say they are HEMA free, as that is known to cause reactions.
