That Mantle/Griffey is an amazing pull! Thanks for sharing the difficult side of collecting. No one would have predicted the quarantine boom. Just be glad you didn't buy high and are in debt! Subbed.
Sold 2 unopened 1971 Topps wax boxes for $5,000 years ago (for my father). They sold for $100,000 each last year. Also, I sold a 1956 Topps Mickey Mantle PSA 9 Mint for $9,100. Probably $100,000 today.
Oh man, those one are tough to hear. Really sorry. But so cool your dad kept a few unopened 1971 boxes, that was rare and incredibly forward thinking of him. Thanks so much for viewing!
Your honesty is refreshing, and appreciated. It's a lesson in asset bubbles- if it can happen in real estate and oil and lumber, it can happen with little pieces of cardboard. Thank you for an interesting and honest video!
I appreciate that. I definitely learned a lesson. Let’s hope we all get a second chance to make the right choice on a mistake 🤞 thanks again for the view!
@@littlevictoriessportscards197 Again, I really appreciated the vulnerability and honesty of your video- you're a good man, and the time to sell at high tide will come again!
Thank you for sharing something a lot of us collectors wouldn't. My biggest regret was selling my 96 nba collection while in school. Nba wasn't something I collected too much of, but that year I had a bunch of the rookies. Kobe, O'Neal, Nash, Iverson and Allen 😪
Oh man, sorry for that loss. But know I understand. That 1996 draft class might be one of the best of all-time, and most fun to collect. Kobe, Nash, Allen, Iverson, Marbury, Walker, Camby, O’Neal. Thanks for sharing and taking the time to view my vid!
Biggest regret for me revolves around the same product. In early 97, when the 96 Topps Chrome dropped, I had the chance to buy cases at retail price. A year later I had a chance to buy 40 Topps Chrome Kobe's, 32 RCs and 8 refractors for about $3500. I also remember passing up 86 Fleer basketball and Topps football packs at Kay Bee Toys and Toys R Us when they were 40 cents a pack deciding to buy Garbage Pail Kids instead.
😳 not gonna lie, reading yours made me feel sick to the stomach too! I feel for ya. I just looked up what one sealed box of 1996 Topps Chrome sold for at the peak…$61,000! I remember buying one for $400 bucks in 2013, opening it and pulling the worst two refractors and no Kobe rc’s 😭 definitely shouldn’t have opened it. Thanks for viewing and sharing your regret!
Awesome stories and collection! First video I’ve seen of yours and subscribed. I have a ton of these stories but the card I regret selling the most was an autographed 1953 Topps Mantle. The card would have graded about a 5 with a beautiful blue sharpie auto but I wasn’t concerned about the grade and just had it “authenticated” by PSA. I ended up selling it in an auction house and it only sold for just over $1k. This was back in 2009 or 2010. I’m more upset over losing the card than the $$. Hope to buy it back one day.
It’s truly unfortunate some of our priorities at certain points of time in our lives 😳 But in the end, I did love those college memories 👍 Thanks so much for taking the time to always watch my vids and commenting 🙌
That Lebron James “Gold” card….before I get to that. I’m 41 and I grew up collecting w/ my father. We would get our monthly Beckett Price Guides of all sports and literally have fun reading and studying it. And it’s funny how you mention about the “young” collectors…man they are so full of dog do doo!!!! They’re selling their cards, especially Rantanen SP Game Used Rookie for $300-$750 and I believe it’s only listed for somewhere $65-$75, I don’t have my Beckett w/ me. And they’ll be like, well, Beckett is merely a “reference” guide and nowadays we don’t use it. Plus he just won the cup. I have 11 watchers too. I’m like, ok that’s great but I’m one of the watchers and you had this card up for almost 2 years now, WHATS UP? Now back to L James GOLD card, I was taught by my father and Beckett, if it’s a PARALLEL card of the Rookie and if it does NOT have “RC” next to it in the price guide, it’s not his ROOKIE. Parallels voids Rookie status. I’d rather have a card that serial’d low and commands a high value without the help of PARALLEL STATUS. Your thoughts?
I would still prefer the lowest serial numbered one, the fewest copies made in the world. They’re still RC to me 👍 You and I are fairly similar age, and I too have fond memories of the Beckett Price Guide growing up and collecting with my dad. Check out my newest video when it releases tomorrow. I think you will appreciate it 👍 thanks so much for sharing and viewing my vid!
I don't have anything nearly as valuable as some of these cards, but I do have a story. I sent in a few 1981 Topps Magic Johnsons that I actually pulled from packs to PSA during the boom. Since PSA was so backed up with junk, it took almost a year to get them back. I ended up getting all 8s which was awesome, but by the time I got them back the price plummetted. They were going for over $1,000 for 8''s at the peak, and one even sold for $1,800, but nowadays they go for $100-$125. Such a ridiculous dropoff.
I feel your pain on the Lebron. I bought mine a long time ago for $300 ungraded. Had to sell most of my collection in 2011 and 2019 because of moving to new locations. If I would have foreseen the prices during the pandemic holy smokes I would not have a mortgage either.
Dang, you were only one year off having to sell your second time. But trust me, I understand life happens. Still very cool you got to buy a lebron refractor for only $300 🙌 Thanks so much for viewing!
PSA lists the 1996 Topps Chrome Kobe Bryant #138 (PSA 10) at ----- $135,000. (Today's date is April 20, 2023). Yeah. One hundred and thirty-five thousand dollars. That IS a huge regret that I don't think one could ever forgive themselves for.
That’s why I stick to only collecting pre 1960’s baseball and stick to only one sport. Even though almost everyone collects with the hopes of things increasing in value, I collect for the love of collecting. I only buy when I can afford it, and I stopped selling any of my collection. But you never know when things are going to sky rocket, so if you made more money than you paid for your older collection you came out in the green. We all have regrets. Good video. Great collection.
The last card in your regrets list has the 2003 LeBron James Black Ref going for $230,000 on PSA. So, I hope you still have that card, dude. GREAT video. Thanks for sharing.
Hey brother. Nice heartfelt video. As you may or may not know, I'm a hockey card guy. I don't really have any regrets, because I don't focus on money. I focus on sentimentality, and process as it relates to mathematical odds. To me, the hobby remains a hobby at its core. I believe our life's work and contributions to society are the best way to earn. I get that ppl make and lose money off speculation, including more broadly off of capital gains, but that is all too ephemeral for me. But invisible figures or material possessions should not define us, as ppl. This said, I did give one of my two 1979-80 OPC rookies cards that I pulled to my 11-year-old girlfriend when I was a kid. I still have the other one, ungraded. Had she not dumped me a few months later, I might have felt a bit better about it. On the other hand, I like that I am the type of person who would do that. And, it also explains the very nature of my comment on your thread. (And by the way, you cannot time the market. You speak like those decisions were losses. They are not. That's not how the market works. What matters is your reasoning at the time, which is contextual not in isolation. Ppl who think they can time the markets get killed, and don't manage their wealth very well.)
I’ve only recently gotten back on collecting cards, why? Because of the trauma of losing card not knowing how much it’ll be worth now. Bought a Lebron Rookie Exclusives Auto back in 2012 for $500. Sold in a year and a half later because I needed the money. I sold it for $450. Yes, not even a dime over what I paid for and even a sizable amount less. Still hurts to this day. I’ll never be able to buy it back now 😂
That does sound painful, ugh :( But it’s not your fault, life happens, and unfortunately we gotta sell things when we need 👍 Glad you found this vid! Thanks for watching and commenting 🙌
I regret not selling my Bowman auto of Bobby Witt right before the start of the season. I was going to use the profit on a PC card. It dropped immediately after the start of the season. Worth about 4 times less what I could have got for it. Good card still, but I prefer vintage or prospect hunting. Love that Mantle/Griffey that's dream card for all us during that time frame
Trust me, I didn’t put that bid in lightly. A card like that just rarely comes on the market, I would have had to move some things around for sure had I won 🤪 Thanks for viewing!
I bought an SGC 100 PRISTINE 1976 topps Walter Payton back in 2004 for $4,000.00 on ebay and sold it a few years later for $7,000......what the hell was I thinking. Also paid $1,400 for a fleer Jordan rookie card graded psa 9 in 2003 and sold that for $3,500 few years later. Another horrible mistake, yes I made nice profit but lost out on thousands more on the two gems I had. Shit.
Those do hurt, but not your fault. We just look at the nice profit we are making at the time, not the potential 10-15 year outlook. A lot of times it’s hard keep the same card for 10-20 years 🤪 Thanks for the view and comment!
Sorry to be late to the party, but you sharing the pain of all these is refreshing honesty in the flex culture! Glad you were able to replace some of those. Just gotta share one (of many many) of mine. A 2004 SP Game Used Jordan/Lebron dual jersey auto, numbered 11/13. Sold it in 2009ish, fully intending to buy it back, as he promised he would give me first shot. He didn't. The guy that bought it got it graded, and he sold it for $26K. I think it sold later for $120K. I got about 5% of the first price, and can't bring myself to even look it up now.
I’m glad you found this video, and watched 👌 And thanks for sharing your story! Made me sad just reading about it, just know I feel for ya and you got my support! The way the market is right now…it might be fairly affordable again if one ever pops back up for sale 🤞
Yeah, we are definitely not alone 🙌 Fun and sad to hear all the stories, but I think it’s a great thing to get these stories off our chests and have them be heard 👍 thanks for viewing!
Excellent Content LVSC, I just started viewing your channel...... Have you done a Pre Grading video yet, "I couldn't find one on your page" I would like to see that?
Thanks for the kind words! 👍 I appreciate you viewing my channel. I’ll start doing more pre grade videos. Right now I do have some similar videos, look for the words ‘order prep’ in the title. Thanks again
Dont sweat it! that set your putting togethor will be a million bucks in 15 years, be patient itll pay off and you have the card! I sold Lebron n Trout rookies way too cheap but I have no regrets ya gotta make moves sometimes based on the info you have available at the time, Ya got that mantle n griffey card back thats amazing beautiful card i cant believe you pulled that!!
I hope you’re right 😃🙌 I’ll definitely hold the 03/04 set and mantle/Griffey for a long time. I still remember pulling that card like it was yesterday. I hope kids nowadays get to feel that same kind of excitement
I often look back with some regrets, but there’s also plenty of cards that I’ve sold and made a good profit based on what happened to pricing later. Hang in there man, many of these cards will rise again!
While watching this, my feeling is that there is too much velocity in the hobby and that speed is what creates more mistakes. For example, I recently picked up a Ridder card for $220. I offered the guy $200 and he said that was what he bought it for so he needed to make a little money. It seems like it would be better to hold that card to see how the season unfolds rather than take $20 profit after a week. People would think differently if they had to hold their cards for at least a year.
I agree 👍 I think that velocity in the hobby is partly based off of fear. The market has tumbled so much since the boom people are fearful of holding which is understandable. Thanks for watching and the comment 🙌
@@littlevictoriessportscards197 that’s a great point! We have started collecting this year so we certainly have “beginner’s eyes.” It’s similar to the people that lived through the Depression in that they had a scarcity mindset afterwards. Human behavior is hard-wired to avoid loss more than it tries to seek gains.
I thought when pandemic hit who's going to want cards ,so I sold..a PSA 10 Kobe chrome rc for $400 I paid $100 for it that January, sold.babe Ruth tobacco care , and a ton Brady rc PSA 9 auto, sold them very cheap
I could feel the pain in your voice rather about the LeBron!I love washing your channel, and you’re a smart man you’ll bounce back if you haven’t already❤
In actuality, you didn't loose ANY money... You MADE money - however small the amount - above n beyond your original purchase price(s). The ones who actually LOST money, were the ones who bought that LeBron Refractor for $200,000. +, and are now holding a $50,000. + card. You can't see into the future... No one can. You made the RIGHT call(s) at the time. When you needed money, you put life and your family first, and did what you had to do. That's a win in my book.
I know you emphasized potential losses. But keep in mind its only an actual loss if you’ve sold for less than you actually paid for something. Nice collection. That Mantle Griffey is a grail card for any collection. Very nice. Thanks for sharing.
Wowza…you take the cake. You win 😅 So sorry to hear that. Makes for an incredible story though. So crazy to think Brady cards were that low. Thanks for viewing!
Wow, I’ve always wanted to own that card! $15 bucks would have been incredible. Thanks for bringing up that card, because that error actually rivals the Billy Ripken card for most iconic error card 🙌 thanks for sharing!
In January 2020 pre-pandemic, I sold my MTG unlimited black lotus for $7,000 and trust me it was in played condition and would be graded heavily played with slight damage, similar condition cards are selling for 12k maybe sold for more during pandemic. I did fine but probably would have waited to sell. Not as bad as some of your potential losses but still hurts a bit.
Oh man, that is a rough one. It probably did sell for more during the pandemic. But I’m glad you did well on the card overall 👍 thanks for sharing and the view
Really interesting video. Life decisions in general seem so easy when you look in the rear view mirror. I used to have cases of sealed Pokémon / Yu-Gi-Oh and some super high end sports cards worth insane amounts today. Jordan Game jersey autos ect.. haven’t even thought twice about it. Just like stocks no one is ever capable or calling a top in any market. I know if I had held onto most of it I would’ve sold on the way up (and did for some stuff I found kicking around 5-10 years later), illogical to think in a 20 year time span you pick the absolute peak to sell. I’m sure you held the lebron not because you wanted to still “complete the whole set” in 2020, it’s because you were holding a “stock” that was going to the moon and all the influencers kept hyping it would go higher, human nature not to sell. And human nature not to pull the trigger when it drops from $280k to $200k ect… “I’ll sell when it hits the high water mark again” no sense living with regret! Just my two cents (I’m in theory a TCG gazillionaire if I never sold anything every… until 2020) but then again we could of all bought Tesla stock when it was $20…
Some basic rules to live by: 1. If you sell something and you MAKE money....don't complain. As long as you made money and DID SOMETHING of VALUE with the funds, then be happy. 2. Don't look back.....it will just drive you nuts. 3.Most people don't regret what they sold....they USUALLY regret what they did NOT buy..when they should HAVE! 4.When people are offering "crazy money" for something - TAKE IT. The highs NEVER last....
Can't really say "I don't have a lot of money" and follow it up with 286k would "pay for a chunk of my mortgage." 286k is more than most people's homes in general. Just because you have so much tied up into cards doesn't mean you don't have money. You have investments, assets, etc. It's all worth in its own way. Best wishes.
Home prices vary so much across the United States. I live outside of Portland where house prices are higher than the norm. Around $400k is a middle class home in my area 🤪 Best wishes to you too, thanks so much for viewing my vid 🙌
Wow…that would have been incredible to buy a chrome Kobe rc for $15 at a card show! Wish we knew which cards now at card shows will end up like that one. Thanks for the view and comments 🙌
Awesome kid. Agreed w the others, we understand your plight. I am someone that cannot fathom your collections worth, with the graded cards. Scares me the amounts you have spoken about…I have zero things graded, sold, but, am so hoping to figure out how to do it and have a story to tell such as you and your following collectors. Good luck w your Chandler, I will keep an eye out too. If you, yourself or anyone can just suggest a start for grading cards, I thank you in advance. Take care.
Really appreciate the support 👍 As a start go ahead and watch my video entitled ‘my grading submission process’. I’ll probably keep posted more grading tips videos soon too. Thanks again!
We have all done this. In 2009 I sold a Donruss national treasures auto/ patch 1 of 1 of Ben Rothenburger for a lousy $300. Another was a incredible impossible pull from the 2009 UD hockey Wayne Gretzky (signed 10 copies) for $350 EBay auction. The worse was a high brand ($250 a box in 2008) Super Patch/ auto 1 of 1 Nolan Ryan. These prices were relatively fair at the time but I just wonder how much they might pull in today. Maybe a new car??
Unrelated, I remember buying $200 worth of BTC during the pandemic ( I later sold it for $179 ). Months later those $200 would have been worth $1k. I slightly feel your pain man.
@@littlevictoriessportscards197 thank you. I have one question for you. I recently got into the card collecting hobby. Do you recommend only stacking PSA 8’s and above for long term investment? I haven’t bought any sports card rather nonsports cards like 1962 Mars attacks cards
@@merrymaurader2521 really depends on the rarity of the card. Cards with very limited print runs, I would say grades don’t matter as much. So you can hold onto those no matter what. But cards with high print runs, then yeah, I usually only keep psa 8’s or higher 👍 Thanks again!
16:59 collectors always determine the price of the card, i don't listen to any retailer, seller or the so called influencers, you can put any price you want on a card but if no one wants to spend the money then it's not worth that much, i remember a guy was trying to sell the first ever upper deck john elway jersey card (1999) for $1200 even though beckett and tuff stuff listed it at $300, but his reasoning was that it will be the last jersey card they will ever make of elway because he retired the year before i was so tempted to buy it because the broncos had just won back to back superbowls and elway was my favorite player at the time, it made me sick that i actually considered it, but jersey cards were a brand new concept and it was really difficult to say no to it, people were going berserk over these jersey cards, fast forward about 7 years later and i bought it on ebay for $75 keep in mind this was just a jersey card, not a patch, no autograph, not numbered, it's a great card with an incredible design and photo of elway and of course the way they shaped the jersey was just so beautiful, thank you for the video
That’s so awesome you smartly waited and got it for only $75 👍 Sounds like you really appreciate the card too. I’ll have to look it up on eBay so I can see what it looks like. Thanks for the view and comment 🙌
@@littlevictoriessportscards197 thank you for the response, i feel sorry for the person who eventually paid the $1200 for it, i'm sure you already know that not even 2 years later the jersey card exploded and they were selling wax boxes with a guaranteed jersey card in every box, some companies even guaranteed three jersey cards per wax box i remember buying an upper deck spx 2001 wax box and got an elway jersey card and a peyton manning autograph in the same box, the box cost around $200 at the time, imagine if i had paid the $1200, i would have felt horrible for days
Don’t think about it too much. Should be happy you are still alive. There are hundreds of thousands of people that lost their lives every year because of accidents. Glad you are not one of them
Very true. Always good to put this into perspective. I am very grateful each day I’m healthy and alive 🙌 Thanks so much for taking the time to view my channel
I had a buddy sell the bron black border at the height, hes still living off that sale. 🤣 im pretty sure I bought ur psa 10 Ripken, $62 on the Mahomes wow..bro...insane... I have the Mahomes but its the Target Pink Prizm exclusive I need to send off. ....and these people that paid these extremes! $1700 for a Duncan Topps?! HOW DID ANYONE think that was a good purchase?! Thanks for sharing.
My thoughts exactly! The Tim Duncan one is a real head scratcher. That’s crazy if you were the one that bought my Ripken! Fantastic buy 👍 thanks for viewing!
I feel you on a lot of these I once had a 2001 topps Chrome Drew Brees rookie. I paid 20 for it. Sold it about 3 months later for 160. Only to learn several years later it was selling for 1600 bucks. I really wish I could have had that card back😢😢
I feel ya :( Actually Drew Brees stuff is really undervalued right now. You should think about picking one up again. I think you can get a decent copy for around $600. Thanks for watching!
Hey @LittleVictoriesSportsCards can you do a follow up video with the exact same cards and show what you payed and what you sold for? I can understand the idea (and NO ONE) wants to leave money on the table but it would be cool to see what your real ROI was. Now that the masses are viewing the Pandemic Price Boom for what it was, a winning lottery ticket, it's fun to watch the bounce back and see how the next few years goes in the hobby.
Yeah, it’s been really interesting tracking the market correction. I’ll try to post a follow up sometime, time willing. Thanks so much for the support and viewing the vid 👍
the title is incorrect... as you didn't lose, rather, you didn't gain. We all went through that in March of 2021. It sounds like you are in the positive at least..... just as profitable as you could have been.
I feel your pain I’ve been there before. The Lebron is a beautiful card and you still are up huge on the card. It’s possible that card goes Back to 100K or likely more over the years. It’s a great investment piece so stay strong. My biggest regret was a big loss on magic the gathering cards.
I appreciate that! My plan is to stay strong on that lebron card. Plus I need it for the set 👍 Sorry about your magic gathering cards. I really wish I would have bought those instead of the Star Wars & Xfiles gaming cards 😩 Thanks for viewing!
@@littlevictoriessportscards197 I could tell you the story but it’s too much to relive to be honest and I’ve moved on. It could’ve been a million dollars today potentially but it was too good to be true.
Right when 2020 bowman came out I bought the first 5 Jarren Duran PSA10 autos that I found on eBay for $100-$135/ (refractors) and at the hight of the pandemic these were selling for $1k. I didn’t sell a single one of them 🤦♂️
I essentially sold my entire card collection (for $1,000) in college including a psa 8 Bird/Magic with perfect corners and seamless perforations. Great video, I appreciate your story. I subbed as well.
I knew someone some day would ask if any body had made a Wacko mistake with there cards. Well here we go...... I was born in '57 and started collecting cards but unlike the other guys I took care of them.at the end I had 300 mantles, and tons of rookies of all the big guys. Came home from the Navy to find out she gave them all to some neighborhood kid. I still get the sweats just thinking about it
Wow 😮 That might be the saddest sports card story ever. Really sorry to hear that :( And you took care of them! I would have loved to see your collection. But a big thanks for your service 🙌 And thanks for the comment and sharing!
Just an FYI it can the biggest loss if you haven’t sold it yet. I am stock guy and if you still hold the stock/card then just chill and maybe the price will go back up. Everyone can’t sell at the top. Don’t make yourself crazy.
Great life story! Mine is I had a Jordan RC from trading around as a kid in the late 80s and I was about 14 kinda losing interest in the hobby, the card wasn’t in great shape but still a MJ RC! I was around 14, my cousin and I were going cruising on a Friday night I didn’t have a lot growing up and we both collected cards but I decided I’d sell my MJ to get gas and the newest tape/cd that had came out and just have pocket money!! Big Mistake!!! HUGE MISTAKE!!! But it was 1991 I didn’t think his cards would ever be worth what they are today much less 2020!! Life Lessons I Guess!!!! Kids and Teens seem to ALWAYS LEARN THE HARD WAY!!! 😂! I’ll be checking out your ebay store soon!!
Awesome video man! I was hearing you talk about Kobe and was thinking the exact same thing then you said You were a Blazer fan. Go Zers! You from Portland? My way of thinking is you never know whats gonna happen in this hobby. If you got that card for 400 once it COULD drop back to 400. Even at 50k that like....being able to take a year off, start up funds to start a side business, or putting it in the bank and not having to spend new earnings on mortgage for 2.5 years, buying into stock while its low. If i had a card that valuable and my wife knew it......i wouldn't have that card anymore lol new sub btw God bless
Good to hear from another Blazers fan! I’m from the willamette valley, outside of pdx 👍 Your wife comment made me laugh pretty hard. Made me think I probably should have told my wife I had a card that valuable when it was at its peak 🤣 Thanks for viewing and commenting!
Very interesting video. Could you tell me why vendors at card shows don’t push Tiger Woods. He is a goat. And making history in GOLF. His cards should be collectibles.
I agree Tiger is the golf GOAT, but unfortunately I think people are cautious with his stuff because of his scandals, injuries, and sudden drop off in performance. He was on track for unimaginable heights. Thanks for watching the vid, and happy collecting!
Amazing breakdown but don’t beat yourself up about the last one. Timing a peak is hard. It will peak again and Lebron will go into the hall of fame and it will peak even more.
Had me chuckling on S. Curry auto flip from 28$ to $56. Overall you're up big and hobby has been good to you, that's a win in my book. Ofc there's always should've/would'ves in hindsight like any investment but dont think you should beat yourself up for not foreseeing Kobes sudden death followed by once in 100-year pandemic.
It took some guts to make this one, lol...but you did a great job. We all have similar stories...the last few years were such a ride. New sub! Keep cranking out the good stuff!
Such a ride 😅 I got one more vid like this one (more positive though) I’m gonna share later this week, then I’m back to sharing psa sub reveals. Got some good ones in the grading status. Thanks so much for the comment, and viewing! 👍
@@littlevictoriessportscards197 I have a few of these stories myself. I'll drop a vid soon, too. It would be awesome if you subbed back. Either way, great content! I can't imagine pulling that Mantle/Griffey as a kid. Wow!!
So much hindsight; any regret that has to do with selling before the pandemic spike needs to be thrown out the window. That entire situation was one of the least likely things to ever happen. Even now that it's happened, no sane person will be holding onto cards just in case it happens again. Not selling the LeBron though, that would haunt me. We all have these sorts of stories and may not even know it. How many people had the chance to buy hundreds of copies of the Trout Update, but didn't? Or Curry? I bought my Trout for $7, and picked out one from a pile of them. I should have bought them all but I only know that with years of information. I sold a lot of Yelich cards about a year before he went God Mode for a season and a half. It included a bunch of PSA 10 Updates and a red Bowman refractor numbered to 5. I lost out on thousands but made hundreds. That's life. It's simply not possible to do this hobby perfectly. Just buy what you like and what you can afford. That way you won't sweat the losses as much.
You're the opposite of most people, and I appreciate the video and dialogue. Most others love to flex and chest pump their victories but never discuss their defeats or regrets due to ego and swagger. Much like how gamblers only talk about wins but never their losses. With that, I'm confident you probably are way ahead of the game financially with other cards you won hand over fist with thick profits as you seem very savvy as a smart buyer and seller, not greedy FOMO nor 20/20 hindsight fears. Good luck with your collecting and investing.
You made my night 🙌 Really appreciate your kind words. I think you understood why I made this video 👍 All of this content stuff is definitely out of my comfort zone, I’ve been in the shadows working hard for a long time. This hobby has been really good to me, and I just wanted to be a honest/positive face right now. Thanks again!
I'm a Portland trail blazers fan from birth...grew up in SE Portland...my biggest regret is selling my 2019 contenders gold veteran auto of dame lillard in 2019 for $100...I still kick myself over that choice to this day! I'll get another one one day...lol
Love to hear from another Blazers fan! The Lillard/Simons duo off to a great start 👍 Sorry about the Lillard auto, selling a gold lillard is always tough :( I hope you get one back in the future. Thanks for viewing! Go Blazers
Great video and stories, I can appreciate everything you have spoken about as none of us have a crystal ball. I had a 2004 Topps Tom Brady Superbowl card auto/ball /99 sold back in 2005 for 400 bucks, had 4 raw mahomes prizm rookies sold for 40 bucks when everyone was going for kamara, watson, fournette, mccaffrey. Woulda shoulda coulda its all in hindsight now, I had many boxes of 03-04 basketball with so many lebrons i sold, I missed a great opportunity at my LCS i went to on a Sunday had 4 packs left in a box of 03/04 flair showcase for 10 bucks each, passed on them found out the next day some kid pulled the Lebron purple RC 1/1 and sold it a week or so later for 1500 to buy a car LOL. I used to crack boxes and just stuff to buy more boxes and feed my addiction. I have pulled probably 7-8 1/1 in my time and had sold all those as well, and to count the graded cards i let go back in 2004-2007 i kick myself in my ass, I used to walk into PSA to drop my cards off for grading back then, and it was like 7-10 bucks a card and i'd get them back in 30 days or so, the kobes and jordans and etc.. etc...
Wow, that purple 1/1 lebron story was crazy! I really wish we could predict the future just a lil bit 🤣 Also I would have loved to see that Tom Brady superbowl auto! Thanks for sharing 👍
Haha i had the same story for the curry contenders I bought it for 30 bucks and sold it for 200 to get Christmas presents now my moms mad at me that I sold it so I guess she didn’t like my gift I got her that year 😂
While not on par with your list, I sold a Jeremy Pena 1st Bowman Chrome Auto as part of an auto lot for probably $10. Now that card raw goes for over $100 i think and it's only going to go up. Ouch.
Prices are dropping fast on over saturated cards because the prices went up to fast and everyone flooded the market Prices on all the cards you showed will continue to correct and go down
