"Don't touch them, don't look at them in the eye, and definitely don't talk to them" Scott proceeds to stare at them, talk to them, and let them kiss his face. 😂 I would have a hard time not doing those things too.
The little things Kate put on Jimmy's claws, I have the same thing for my cat Bagheera so that he'll finally stop scraching the walls. It doesn't bother him that much from what I've seen, he does get it off sometimes while cleaning his paws but nothing too bad.
In this case they also started with expensive scans, biopsy, although this is a very young dog. Why not first try anti sneezing medication and later go for tests?
@@ТамараБелка-й8с Why cause the dog more discomfort, and having to have tests anyway if the meds don't work? Get it done and over with as soon as possible. Age of the dog dosen't matter. Find out the cause, and fix it so the dog can enjoy a happy and healthy life. (Jan Griffiths).
I did work experience a few years back at Secret world and loved every minute of it and started working towards becoming a veterinary nurse to work there someday! Another year or so and I'll be qualified :D
Loved seeing Kate and her beautiful dog and Jimmy the cat. Thought the wildlife centre was great!! Thank you to all those who help all animals and birds, etc. 🥰🥰💗💗
I saw a rehab video once where they said the ones that are the most trouble during the catch/cage/release time are the ones they feel has the best chance in the wild.
the red deer 🦌 young ones are just so beautiful and delicate. it would be sooo hard not to pet them. i’d have to have my own baby with me to pet afterwards all the time. i think i’d ask if we could be kitten rescuers, too :) 🐶🐱
I tried putting those nail caps on my pretty black cat, and he ended up chewing them off. A good option, and certainly better than declawing, but get a strong glue
Oh those baby deer are irresistibly adorable. Even knowing intellectually that I weren't supposed to talk to them, it would feel rude somehow 😅 Sometimes I stop myself short of talking to random birds. I had a bird for so long, old habits kick in.
Get the cat whisperer to help you out....could be demons....😂😂 or he just wants to do what he wants. He’s a cat, they do what they want, when they want and how they want.
Cats are not like dogs. They like their space. They should be left alone until they come to you. They hate the head pat, and they hate any patting of the paws. They make friends on their own terms.
Try telling that to my cat. Mr needy boy. Has to be touching me at all times. Very demanding. Lol He does hate having his feet touched but he tolerates having his nails trimmed.
My cat persephone is just like Jimmy, she has separation anxiety and brings destruction upon our house as a result. My mom and I have tried nearly everything. We've tried to put the nail caps on her but she would just rip them off the day after, we have many scratching posts for her but she still tear at our carpet and is causing alot of damage. We even tried letting her be an outdoor cat, but she hated that and I'm not sure what to do. If anyone has any advice please help🙏
Not really sure how Kate is a vet but she doesn't really understand how important it is for cats to have their own space. Also if furniture is your main concern maybe having a cat isn't your optimal pet.
Kate I know you don't like meds for animals. I was wondering if you give some anxiety for a while on a tapered dose down for a very short time. It will help her with anxiety and will be able decrease the negative and harmful behaviors.
Loving him is Perfect HOWEVER loving him when he does wrong is NEVER a good time For love May I suggest that when he was on anything he is doing wrong with/to you should remove him with a STERN NO! I have had very many great experiences with my animals Good luck
Lol. That's a cat for ya. They rule the roost, you're just the one who feeds them. Just leave home alone, when he wants love and attention he'll let you know.
Oh my goodness that look in Jimmy's eyes, the fixated gaze, the movements of the head, the little licking of the lips, I know that expression all too well..! My ex-stray cat used to look at me like that ALL the time. Haven't seen that look in a while but she does occasionally still make it when I really piss her off
@@laurenwalder371 It's illegal in most parts of the world, except the Usa. It's seen as animal cruelty because the vet would have to remove a little piece of the toe bone
@@Raven-Jomi It also typically results in suffering of the cat after. It hurts and is very uncomfortable even after healing. It can result in stress and biting instead of clawing which is WORSE.
I can't imagine any vet in their right mind considering declawing, but I was certainly curious what her solution would be. I always wondered about those claw tips so that was super interesting!
Has the poor cat for 2 days and expects him to just settle down after spending a year in a cattery. She has to earn HIS trust, not the other way round. Goes straight for the easy option - medication. She should use catnip spray to attract him to use the scratching posts and also get him a cat tree. Cats like to be high up. She should also play with him with toys he can jump and catch (as per Jackson Galaxy). As for putting caps on his claws - UGH! If she thinks more of her furniture than the cat, she shouldn't have a cat. I have 10 cats (8 are rescues) and most of them use the scratching posts. My lot sometimes do claw the furniture but a sharp "No!" deters them. Furniture can be replaced and we eventually grow tired of it anyway but cats can never be replaced. Each one is unique and I consider all of them part of my family.
@@Pythonaria Also most cats (there are a few exceptions) do need a companion. Especially if they are indoor only cats because they are very social! This loneliness can cause behavior problems like scratching, peeing and depression. A dog or a human can't replace another cat buddy. But I am very glad that she didn't just declaw the cat, that would be very messed up!
@@coockiep Cats are social. I have 10 (8 of them are rescues). One of my rescues was dumped as a 9 week old kitten in the snow. He was quickly accepted by the rest of my cats. 3 months later I was asked to foster an 8 month old kitten who had been starved, neglected and abused (owner surrender). The two formed a bond and if there's mischief being done, they are right in the middle of it 😸 I'm in the UK where de-clawing is illegal (thankfully).
My cat is just like Jimmy and even around the same age. I've tried everything with her but some cats just have an attitude. When they get frustrated, anxious, or hungry they bite and scratch. My cat also has very little patience for anything and hates being touched. I have to take her to the vet soon and she has to be sedated just so they can look at her legs.
My cat is incredibly sweet at home, but I have to give her two sedatives to get her to the vet so that they can do a check up and trim her nails. She just hates being handled by people she doesn’t know.
LOL , both can go hand to hand in circle of life. We love this show for its entertainment, humor , joy of animals , beloved people who helps the animals and drama that happens.
Keep his nails trimmed. Don't cut into the pink part---the white part only. And cut where the hook is. That's the part you want to eliminate. Average time for grow back is 10-14 days. Keep checking, and cut when the hooks start to grow back. (Jan Griffiths).
I in joy watching long episode with Scott visiting the most beautiful lovable wild life animals.that black and white cat nice to see a vet loving this cat with the drama he has cool.
My cats loves bottle caps , straws and plastic spoons to fetch and play soccer. We have tree stubs as scratching posts. We have climbing areas and jumping areas for our jumpers and climbers. We have water bowl fountains since they love running water to drink from. They do all love wand toys , kick toys and balls.
@@pamjarvis2771 Sounds similar to what I have for my own cats. It's outside though. We built a large run for ours, and they spend most of the day out there, even though they can come through the doggie door anytime. Inside play is with the bottle caps, wand toys, plastic spoons, and balls. I find toys all over the house. Wands have to be put away after playtime is over. (Jan Griffiths).
And there is another alternative. Keep the cat's nails trimmed. They do grow fairly quickly, so this should be done every 10-14 days. I trim my cats' nails every 10 days on average. My youngest cat needs hers done more frequently than the older 2 cats do. Sometimes my older (11 and 14 year old) cats can skip a trimming session. They don't mind at all having it done, and I can trim each cat in under 2 minutes. They get a nice treat afterward. (Jan Griffiths).
She may never have owned a cat, and is unfamiliar with their behavior. She seems more of a dog person, and has a lot more experience with them. (Jan Griffiths).
I have no idea how old this is but watch some Jackson Galaxy vids. He has a method for this kind of kitties, Catify to Satisfy. It worked for an S2 savanna cat. I hope it is S2. it is the second breeding away from its wild counterpart.
It’s called F2. Fundamental or something it’s stands for. Or foundation... maybe something else. But yea crossing domestic and wild animals result in F1, F2 etc animals
Jimmy needs to have his nails trimmed, and kept trimmed. Also, he needs an elevated cat super highway so he can view the world from above which cats love to do. Also, he needs fishing pole type toys for interactive play. The cat was from a cattery, and he does need time to adjust. Feliway pheromone diffusers would help too. He's acting this way because he's scared and insecure. (Jan Griffiths).
I get my cat nails clipped often. I'm still working on my boy scratching, but he's doing much better. I have to give him a small dose of medication sometimes. I love him, u know!
Im sorry but i think the nail clips are silly. What is to stop them from biting them off? I had never heard of such a thing before. My best bud i have to get declawed and felt terrible, but there was no other option at the time. He had completely destroyed the side of my new couch. It never seemed to bother him to not have them. He still went out and kicked the crap out of a raccoon in our yard when he was 17.
This is why you should get either a cat that has been socialised or a kitten to socialise not a rescue cat to socialise, you will never get them out of the bad habits once formed. Not to mention the bond with a kitten is stronger which allows the adaptation for both of you to each other. Cats afterall are not dogs!
It would be sooo hard not to cuddle or talk to those animals. I found a baby rabbit as a kid (with dead siblings next to it). Hand reared it, cuddles galore. I was hoping it would become a pet, but it's instincts took over and was just too wild. I now have a domesticated rabbit and it's totally different than it's wild countetparts.
This Bondi Vet programme is really good. But it's more than entertaining, it's very educational. It is teaching us about all the different conditions our pets can have, and it enables us to recognize them and know and understand the conditions we need to look out for and get them treated.
Being a wildlife carer when I get old and retire is sounding better and better. I've had some experience with small birds and a duckling. Love taking care of nestlings.
Jimmy stealing the dog’s food. My goodness. 😂 My cat would do that, but it was almost a “ I dare you dog, to do something about it”. He would walk over real slow and just post up and eat then stay their and stare at the dog like, yep, I ate it. What u gonna do? 😂
Strangely enough my name is Kate and my first cat did the same thing to me. That is over 40 years ago and I still have a scar on my upper lip from that slash.
That's like my cat. She's fine 90% of the time. Then she'll get over excited about being petted and that exact look will cross her face. Don't touch after that or you're going to get hit, hissed at and bit. Taking into account this is a lap cat that sleeps in my arms, you can see why this is hard to get used to. I call it her attention limit. Past that point she wants to be left alone for half an hour.
I had a cat the same he was crazy he use to hide and jump out at your feet my kids could be sitting on the lounge with me then suddenly he would jump up on the lounge behined us and attack the back of our heads once he got my son's eye's so as much as we loved him we had to fined another home for him
I love Scott he’s so talented,an he realy loves the animals an he goes far an beyond for their owners ,he’s a very special vet an person ,much lv Ann uk x
Use feliway, maybe put up a few shelves to give him his own space so he has a place to go to to be by himself. I’m surprised by how many vets don’t seem to know much about cat psychology.... also those types of couches are the worst type to have when you have a cat. Me personally and i believe jackson galaxy also said this that those caps on the claws are not the best thing as they prevent cats from marking their territory, in some cases it’s needed but it shouldn’t be the first choice.
