Roxy fully intended to be cast aside after sleeping with Rudeus. She planned to take full responsibility for his affair, painting herself as a villain so that Rudeus could go back to his wife guilt free. She couldn’t even enjoy her first time with the guy of her dreams because she felt it wasn’t real; that she was just a temporary replacement for his real love. She gave him her first time while fully expecting to be hated for it. This is what Rudy means by sacrificing her own feelings. You are right though about Rudeus’ feelings for Roxy leaning more towards respect than romantic. I don’t think he loved her the same way he did Sylphy, something he himself says afterwards. But he does fall in love with her after the fact. It’s the same way she had great affection for him as her student but only started feeling romantically about him after reuniting. Both their feelings for each other changed during the trip. And yeah the idea that it had to be sex is questionable logic. But it was the sort of solution they would come up with. These are the same sort of people that rationalize trauma as a curse. They treated Rudy’s depression like some status ailment that’s antidote was sex.
They skipped that entire discussion Roxy, Elinalise and Geese had back when Rudeus was depressed. That would have cleared a lot of misunderstandings Anime-onlys have with regards to Roxy's actions and how painful they were for her. Its not like she is horni and only wanted to get penetrated back then.
We talked to a psychologist, ed, about if Rosie had groomed rudy, and he unequivocally said, no. The relationship between Rosie and rudy was not grooming. Rudy was anxiously attached to Rosie as a child. Her panties became his safety blanket because of what she did for him. While she taught him as a child she did absolutely nothing to groom or foster a future romantic feeling in rudy. It was completely one sided when he was a child. She didn't develope any romantic interest in the person called rudy until he saved her in the labyrinth. Just because he has attached to her as a child because she correctly helped him get over some of his past trauma, doesn't mean she did anything to force him into a sexual relationship based off those past interactions. Rudy's actions are his own, how hes attached and who that attachment is to, is on him. If it wasn't Rosie, it would have just been sylphie... which it was, and it would have been eris later, which it was. In other words, other people's emotional issues and how they attached themselves to us isn't on us. Now, going back to roxie and coming onto rudy, yeah, still not a great situation. But that being said, I have absolutely no issue with polygamy between consenting adults. Sylphie is ok with it, roxie is ok with it, it's not on us to judge. Plain and simple. We can not insert our personnal beliefs into other characters.

And she had seen the plus side of Polygamous relationships along with the negative so she was not trained to dislike the idea she knows it works great some of the time. Finally people are different People seam to run from not wanting to ever have a long term relationship and do it to those who want a multi Poly situation to those who want Monogamy. Girl no offense but you don't know what "grooming" means lmao. Roxy has had little to no contact with Rudeus since he was 5 and never tried to manipulate him into becoming her lover when he grew up. When they meet in the labyrinth, she fell in love with the man without even knowing it's Rudeus. Fast forward after Paul's death, and she does the deed with him merely to just get him to start taking care of himself again and she asks for nothing in return. She doesn't even think he's into her until he proposes after Elinalise tells him to. That's just straight up not "grooming" in any definition of the word. The writing was perfectly fine this whole episode, and consistent with the rest of the series. 18:40 Marrying Roxy WAS Rudy's decision. Elinalise simply gave her advice to Rudy about the situation with Roxy, but Rudy made the final DECISION to propose to Roxy. Following someone else's advice does not mean that person made the decision for you. Rudy made the final decision to follow Elinalise's advice. 14:12 Roxy never "groomed" Rudy. Roxy simply helped a child get over their fear of going outside, and it was Rudy who decided to go from just perving on her to worshipping Roxy. If just being cute and in close proximity to each other counts as "indirect grooming" then I guess co-workers are constantly "grooming" each other every time they clock in for work, which isn't true. Spending quality time with someone is how love and bonds naturally form, its not something vague as "indirectly grooming". 21:16 Rudy doesn't want Roxy to be miserable because he's always strived to make the others around him happy. Rudy ORIGINALLY didn't want to take another wife because he didn't want to make Sylphie miserable in their relationship, even though Sylphie said she was okay with it. Rudy was also ready to obliterate Norn's classmates because he thought they were making Norn feel miserable. Being a former depressed shut in, one of Rudy's top priorities is the happiness of those around him. He doesn't want ANYONE to feel the same misery he felt in his old life, that is why he has stood against bullying the entire time at the University.
100% agreed, she's starting to twist logic and words to fit a narrative she is building rather than just approaching the series unbias. You don't have to like Roxy, plenty of people don't, but at least understand what is happening and what her character actually is instead of forcing your headcannon into the show.
Grooming is the deliberate act of separating a child from all other adult influences and tearing down the child's self esteem and making the child emotionally dependent on you. As typical Internet broadened the definition massively too much. You can't accidentally groom a child. Raising or mentoring a child is not Grooming even it the child develops love feelings without deliberate plan to do so which will include the other parts of Grooming.
Ok, you are free to interpret media anyway you like and you are entitled to your own opinion....that said I feel like you are being extremely bias and not openminded at all about Roxy and it just comes across as blindly hating on her. Rudy does love Roxy, it isn't just grooming or respect, yes he does respect her sure but everyone should respect the people they love right? Those feelings are not mutually exclusive. I feel like you are twisting every genuine expression of love that Rudy/Roxy show to each other as some kind of fake romance. I think it's important to remember what Paul said, both his wives are different and he loves them equally but in different ways. Rudy loves Roxy but not in the same way he loves Sylphy. I don't think that makes their love any less valid though. He will always have a more "traditional" husband / wife relationship with Sylphy similar to Paul and Zenith, but for Roxy his love comes from a deep respect of her and everything she's done for him. So yes maybe it does come across a little more stiff and formal but I don't think it's fair to judge their romance as inauthentic. Also keep in mind he's still getting used to being in a relationship with Roxy whereas he's spent years with Sylphy at this point
i think the biggest problem its bc Larah dont want to see the MT world as a different from our world in the romantic / lovers aspect. Its like the opposite of our society, when here we are most likely monogamy or something similar, in MT World the polygamy its normal, the only exception its for the Milis followers - and Norn its the representation of that in Rudeus Family - but they are minority in that world. And being bias and hating Roxy all the way like shes doing its maybe her way to say that, that she doesnt like it or understand - i think its more the first option, tbh. In the end, Sylphie says that if she was on the same position that Roxy was she will do the same, and it was completely ignored bc well, the hate of roxy its all over her eyes.
Yeah but I think you're overlooking the fact that she did in fact take advantage of him. I agree that Rudeus can love them both, I mean polyamory does exist. But the way it was went about is obviously going to leave a sour taste in people's mouths because 1) Rudeus didn't consult Sylphie (which didn't matter since she was open to it), and 2) she decided to do it when he wasn't in a clear state of mind.

That's what I like about MT, everything is realistic and messy, no "this is the ideal way to do things", always "this character, with these character traits, would do this", just like people do in real life.

As a mental health professional. NOTHING can bring someone out of a deep depression in ONE scene. BUT, if we're talking what would be more effective as grief counseling? Sleeping with someone isn't more helpful than actually talking through the emotions they're experiencing. If anything, that could lead to some problematic pathologies. It's a show, and it's just a plot device, obviously. Had it been realistic, to get someone out of a catatonic state, it takes a lot more than just a single afternoon to galvanize someone to dig themselves out of such a dejected state.

Sylphie for sure is more of a pushover and doesnt have much confidence in herself so even before she managed to be with Rudeus, she was already getting ready with the possibility of Rudeus going for more women, because he is a Greyrat, because he is Paul's son and stuff like this (we had a scene in the first part of season 2 that showed this as well, Sylphie getting in peace with this kind of thing way before) so yeah u r kidn on point in here. I just think you are not getting Roxy's motivation for doing what she did but not your fault, it is lacking the context in the anime. The thing is you are using our knowledge of psychology and ppl, so u know that this is taking advantage of someone. In Roxy's context, everyone was trying to solve Rudeus Issues because he was stuck in his room and they just were tired and wanted to move on and not wait till he got better (he was already a week+ stuck in his room without eating). Their sugestion for solution as Adventurers in this kind of world was just "oh he is a man, give him alcohol and woman and he will lit the spark". Everyone kinda just wanted to let Rudeus fix himself at that point because how exausted everyone was, but Roxy was the one that realized that he was fragile and needed a stronger push. So Roxy didnt want to mess with Rudeus, a married man, and their knowledge was that sex was going to help him go back to reality and start moving on. It's not like Roxy wanted to take this opportunity to get lucky, her only intent was to bring him to reality and just abandon him to have his "happy life" and not get in the way. Of course in our modern setting all of this sounds absurdly fishy because there are more ways to help a person, we know how psychology works in general and we would assume this is bullshit, but u gotta realize that all those decisions and sugestions were made by those medieval ppl.
I will say Rudy handled the second wife situation a little better than Paul did. IIRC, Paul slept with Lilia behind Zenith's back, knocked her up, and then married her thanks to little Rudy's intervention. If Rudy does get a third wife, I have a feeling it'll definitely be Eris; as much the idea icks me, them being second cousins and all.
Eris and Rudeus are from two different family branches, each in charge of a different frontier, their parents are already distant cousins and they just share the family name
Second cousins is pretty far removed. Almost no religions or countries forbid it in the real world. First cousins is when it gets contentious in the real world, but was done pretty often historically. Anything closer starts getting pretty universally repulsive.
I’ll just say that in this world the promise that he made to stay loyal to sylphy was a weird one to make. Like literally no one in this world including sylphy expected him to keep it, nor did anyone care if he did besides Millis followers. In fact someone of his status is expected to have multiple wives, it would be frowned upon if he didn’t.
Think about how hard it would be to live in that world with the experience of living in ours for much longer. You can't just break yourself of years of experience.
This is why I love discussing Mushoku man. The characters feel so real and the plot covers shit that has you genuinely thinking about these characters as if they were real people. The characters feel 3 dimensional frfr it's great. We can agree or disagree with a lot of situations in this show and you can always come to a different conclusion.

Evangelion didn't have to resort to it either in 4.0. It was extremely tasteless and terrible writing to get him his second wife. To be fair Rudy didn't break his promise Sylphie , he told Sylphie he won't take a concubine cause he didn't care about having children, but the fruit of love with someone he cherishes(which Roxy falls into) so Sylphies reaction is based on she took him at exactly what he promised only those he loves. In theory he broke a self promise that he internalized. To my understanding in this world s3x can be used as the equivalent of therapy so what Roxy did was to help Rudy but yes she did also want to do it so it was a 2 birds 1 stone, would it have been better if they got a random woman for Rudy? Plus Roxy has the mental maturity is like that of a 19-21 yr old even though she is like 50 by her species standard she is still basically a young adult.
As someone who quite literally suffers from depression and had to go to the doctors all my childhood, I absolutely seethe when someone says something like this, just waking up in the morning with panic attacks was annoying because I tried going to school, it got to the point where I wasn’t even afraid anymore I was annoyed I couldn’t do anything in the morning without freaking out, waiting. If MT was more accurate then Rudy would’ve suffered his entire childhood that one trip down the town wouldn’t have been enough.

As you said, Rudy staying doesn't dictated that he would've followed the Man-God's advice. In fact, he was pretty set on not doing that even if he did stay. Whether he actually would have or not is something we don't know, but he didn't _need_ to follow his advice, as evident by the fact that he ignored him in the first place.

I _knew_ people were going to try to bring this up (Which is funny, since she hasn't reacted to it on this channel and don't think she's even seen most of it yet), but this analogy really doesn't work because the circumstances are much different. In the case of MT, Rudy and Roxy were around each other for much longer and had a closer relationship as student and teacher respectively. In Frieren's case, Frieren was a passerby who happened to come across a random child that happened to be Himmel and had a very brief interaction where she told him where to go. They only seem similar on a very basic surface level. That said, I do agree that it isn't grooming, because it wasn't Roxy's intention and she didn't realize who Rudy was when she first met him again.
Depending of the reason of depression, probability of "talking way out" for friends may vary. I was in depression myself. No matter how many "right words" i was told, it doesnt changed my feelings. Even if i'm understood things in head, what i need to do, but in my heart i still feel like sh1t, and couldn't move forward. So if depression is deep, you or suffering like 1-2 years and get up yourself, or something happens, not just words, and it shakens you and you get up also. Most likely, if words could solve the problem (for example if you feel heardbroken and unloved, rejected by world, love Confession will definitely do something), but death of your father can't be solved by "its not your fault", cuz it's partially is, and you know it. If dude doesnt eat and throw up every time like month, KNOWING he has wife and kid on the way, which is like heaven for fatty NEET, I don't think there is any word or phrase vould heal him. He wouldn't survive long enough to make it back to Silphy, more than this, nobody except him knowing teleportation magic to activate portal. But being in this state he will not use it. But direct injection of happy hormones during a fun night with Roxy would. (But their night had different meaning in novel, he just took it out on her, and it wasnt clearly happy time for both of them)

It is not related to the pregnancy news by Lise. He wanted to keep her cos he cares about her and her feelings. Not just cos of pregnancy news. Whatever, the pregnancy case was removed by author in anime adaptation. I mean author involved in this. So it's what it is. I like this change. But skipping the entire bar scene, changing Rudy and Roxy position, making Roxy aggressive one who shows no hesitation in anime are not the good changes. Anime wants to reduce blame on Rudy and shifts most of the blame to Roxy. Even in last episode, I was hoping to see he thinking about slapping Norn to stop her in order to stop Roxy from leaving.

Roxy didn't groom Rudy lol. A decision can be broken up into two: act and intent. Grooming means that Roxy had malicious intent and actively seduced 5-year-old Rudy. Roxy did neither of that. They reunited as two grown-up adults. And I mean that Rudy is grown up as someone past the age of 15. Regardless, I liked your reaction to that scene and can understand why you reacted that way.

Context and skipped content is very important for this as well as getting an understanding grip of the different cultures and lifestyle in that world. Although the anime played it out well, the LN of course, with all its details, did it more masterfully. First, Roxy never groomed Rudeus, that is a word that gets thrown around quite easily nowadays. Groomin is consciously building a relationship of trust and dependance with a child so one can easily manipulate them in the future. Rudeus while a child, had the mind of an adult, although filled with trauma, insecurities and extremely immature. Roxy was (unknowingly) Rudeus saviour, that lifted the trauma of going outside of his shoulders, plus the person that lay the foundations for the man he is today. Rudeus love for Roxy was (at the time), different than the one he felt for Sylphie (and vice-versa), while Rudeus is always having lewd and crazy thoughts, his love for Roxy was more than anything of pure admiration and respect, instead of romantically, like it was towards Sylphie. Same with Roxy, she loved Rudy as her precious and special disciple, that eventually inspired her to keep growing and reach a higher rank as a Mage (King Class). Roxy (unfortunately?) already had conditioned herself to fall in love in a fantasy-like way. She would fall in love with a young handsome, muscular dude who'd save her in a labyrinth. Which is exactly what happened. Rudeus happened to save her in labyrinth, and in the coolest way possible (using an spell that scaled up to Emperor Class power) just when she was about to die. She instantly fell in love and didn´t even recognize it was Rudueus at first. Her falling madly in love, that, we can´t blame her for. Although of course, the stuff she did was f'd up, it definitely saved Rudy and weirdly enough had some sort of nobelty behind it. She planned saving Rudy with the sexual-intercourse, which succesfully threw Rudeus out of the depressive-guilt loop he was caught in, just enough that he could move one. Then was totally fine with outcasting herself, totally taking the blame, sacrificing her feelings and love so Rudeus could go home mostly guilt-free and continuing his life. Skipped content that honestly was imo a miss from the anime, it's that, in the novel, Rudeus was 100% more reluctant to take Roxy as his wife, but was convinced by Elinalise due to her lying to him about Roxy being pregnant, which made Rudeus chivalry kick-in, not wanting to abandon Roxy due to her alledged pregnancy. (Same way as he stood for Lilia in his childhood) And of course, taking culture into account is important. While having multiple lovers is not the most ethical or pure of things, is not frowned upon in that world, unless you are a Millis Church follower, and only Millis follower there was Norn, who unironically, was the angriest.
12:38 Back in season 1 Rudeus, Ruijerd and Eris encounter Paul, by luck pretty much, and the two girls were part of Paul's team then. But they're pretty much background characters.
I think it's fine to be mad at Roxy but watching a reactor just constantly hate on a favorite character irrationally is annoying. Also it's a bit hypocritical. Sylphy and Eris also took advantage of Rudy and have done some bad things, Sylphy even admits this episode she would have done the same as Roxy. So the hate just feels way too bias.

Great reaction as always. One thing that's worth pointing out. It's obvious that what Rudy did with Roxy was incredibly sh*tty, that being said it was way more sh*tty form his own point of view, than from Sylphie's. Core issue with cheating, is not the act itself, but breaking your partners boundaries. OK, we finished the second season with the GODDESS OF LOVE 💚 and the GODDESS OF WISDOM 💙. This is a detail that I won't adapt because the anime simply skips a lot of things but Rudeus has a unique faith where he worships his wives, it's beautiful and bizarre at the same time.

I love the way you express your opinions, I feel like they’re completely valid. There’s a bit in the light novel that happens where Aisha talks a little smack to Norn about flying off the handle to Rudy and Roxy, but Rudy himself stops Aisha and says something like “Stop. Norn’s opinions are completely valid and Sylphy herself had every right to make those points if she felt that way.” I think the conclusion really is that what Roxy and Rudy did was wrong, a betrayal to Sylphy. Things only ended up “happily” because Sylphy forgave, which she had every right not to.
I just hate when people interject their simple-minded fake "morality" onto others, especially when it's a fantasy world where it doesn't apply, because if they do that to a fantasy world in an anime, they're going to force it on to real people in the real world even harder. Tbh, Some people can't even actually explained about the real priciple and details for their "morality". They just follow their moral because people around them did it or they did it by feel but sometime they just can't really explained why'd they have to do that, what's this "morality" create for and why people create it back then, what's the real purpose and principle of this "morality"? and yeah, moral always change in every era and there's no moral that can be used in every place. The anime did fine portraying that though, she just isn't paying attention at all to Roxy's side of the story and choosing to ignore all the context. The last episode made it very clear that Roxy was hurting herself by doing what she did and felt incredible guilt.
If that's what happened in the LN, that's a bad writing. Rudy and Roxy both deserves to be shit talked indefinitely and Rudy knows that or should know that.

Unfortunately, rudy is a hypersexual person, and roxy knew that, she knew that she could have him at least leave his room after doing what she did, and everyone else was giving him the "tough treatment" and letting him sort it out by himself, but she knows that he is way more fragile than that. She was the only one that saw rudy as what he was, an extremely emotionally fragile man, while everyone else seemed to be thinking that he was so amazing that he will pick himself up. Still, she took advantage of him and admitted to having ulterior motives, its a fucked up situation and personally its why I like this show, EVERYONE in this show basically is a nutjob and it makes the audience reflect on these things instead of just beeing a good feeling show, it makes it even more rewarding when things get solved and talked through
Regarding your intro, yeah I don't agree with you personally but not everyone needs to like every decision by every character. I didn't understand some of the comments before on the other video bashing. Just because I disagree with someone's opinion on a tv show doesn't mean it gives me any right to attack them if that makes sense. True that. I don't know why but people seem to expect their main character to be a saint. It's weird. I really like that none of the characters in this series have made safe or clean decisions. Zenith, probably the sanest character came from a prestigious family. She quit all that and became an adventurer. By logic, that's stupid. But people don't criticize that at all.

12:26 The tall girl are the one that wore a bikini armor in ss1, back when Rudy first reunited with Paul As for the short one, that's her little sister, she always stay in the background on purpose. Their back story that wasn't shown in the anime but basically what happened was that they were captured by bandits and they did .... certain things to them. Paul eventually saved them but the sister was traumatized so she's afraid of men looking at her, so she dresses in a way that avoid attention. Meanwhile, the older sister recovered quickly. Knowing that her little sister is scared of men, she decided to take it on herself and wear skimpy outfit so that everyone will look at her and not her sister. However, after the fight between Paul and Rudy, she felt like it was partially her fault that they started to fight, which is why in this season she's wearing normal clothes again

After being rescued, they joined said group and were first seen fighting Rudy in the episode where Rudy reunited, and then squabbled, with Paul. Vierra is the sword fighter in bikini armor who's underwear rudy used as a mask, and Shierra is the one who was casting spells behind her.
The funny thing about all of this is how far people are going to bat for Roxy, when I have a good feeling that if Rifujin-sensei was asked about this take, he'd say it's valid. People are so hellbent on people agreeing with their specific interpretation of events that they don't realize that most authors are fine with whatever interpretation you extract from their story. Doubly so in this case, where it's Mushoku Tensei and the morals of this world are dubious at best to begin with. Very few, if any, characters are clean and un-flawed people, and they aren't intended to be. MT doesn't really go out of its way to glorify certain actions insomuch as it's from Rudy's perspective so there's some intrinsic bias to how we're seeing things.

Yea that was the dumbest take I've seen, Roxy didn't even have direct contact with Rudy since he was like 5-6 until she met him again at the dungeon lol. The thing about Rudeus is that people have no idea how he is affected by things, he can be indiferent to things other consider important, and cares a lot about smaller stuff others wont ever think about Roxy and Silphy have understod some of his angles and act upon them trying to help him, but they also have their own personalhangups Silphy knows Rudus can need help sometimes, but in the end her main worry is being "good enough for him" as she thinks she is the unbalanced part of the relationship, like, her main strenght was being a silent caster bodyguard, but against Rudeus her magic was completely useless And Roxy knows Rudeus needs lots of help in concise situations, but otherwise you can leave him alone to do his thing, and mostly sees him under the idea of mutually pushing each other forward, particularly about magic, so her main concern is of "being helpful" Is like that time Rudeus was learning languages and had trouble with the demon language, so he wrote Roxy asking for advice and she wrote him a book, and hired a high ranking adventurer to delilver it across countries Roxy was confident Rudeus needed this big help as soon as possible, and he could do the rest on his own But i get what you mean, Roxy could have just waited and comforted Rudeus by talking, and after returning they could have researched magic together for a few months and eventually become married, without the need for all this drama Is just that Roxy felt she had to be the one to do something, as she was the one who better understood how vulnerable Rudeus could be, and had to give one big help so Rudeus could deal with the rest on his own, and she wanted to make her move FunFact: Silphy expected Rudeus to marry Nanahoshi as second wife, because from her point of view they share some special bond, as they speak the same langugage (japanese), like the same food (japanese food) and Rudeus allows Nanahoshi to visit their house and use their big (japanese style) bath Thats why she was so accepting of the whole deal

I am a failure as a father." would've tipped him over from starving himself to death to going into active terminal self-harm. Being told what he needs to do is what he asked Roxy and Lilia. But that was after Roxy gave him that reboot. 5:50 The Man-God's warning is anything but meaningless. But when it comes to that conversation.... You're not ready for it. If there's anyone who'd class as a groomer, it'd be Lilia. She raised Aisha from birth to be Rudeus' personal maid in the Asuran manner, and that includes the task of bedwarmer. I only remembered that bit on my volume 8 reread, when Sylphie was showing Luke and Ariel a shortcut in the city she'd found on her morning run. And yeah, Rudeus did take it as a shock that his own wife said she never had any trust in his nether regions. But Norn's face in that shot is absolute gold. 24:07 that shot is absolutely beautiful. To her the prospect is irrelevant, since she loves Rudeus the way he is and she only has eyes for him alone. Sylphie did feel good about his promise and would've liked him all to herself, but being in his life at all stood higher on her hierarchy of things she wants. when they retired for the night, Sylphie did admit she was afraid when she saw Roxy, that Rudeus had brought her to replace her, that Rudeus couldn't love her anymore and is taking Roxy as a wife instead. Sylphie can handle (with some gritting of teeth) Rudeus bringing additional women into the family, but she absolutely fears being replaced or sidelined. And that's why she'll never accept Nanahoshi as a wife, since she feels "that wench" and Rudeus share a bond that supersedes hers with him. 26:30 be careful what you wish for~~ 27:05 at a later point Rudeus did spout English and Japanese at the baby when they were alone, much to Aisha's amusement. "You are my sunshine! I am a pen!" His kid being a reincarnator is a real worry for him. 28:25 So "Eris best husband!"? 29:15 *Everything* in this story is foreshadowing or chekhov's guns. "It hasn't broken me yet!" *Yet* As a reader I dread that one arc in the first cour of season 3 and how they'll present it. Shit gets traumatizing. I'm talking Eclipse-grade. Been another enjoyable video. It's great to see a viewer of this story get so animated about it.

You are working yourself into a tizzy, very entertaining. Roxy leaving depressed means, to Rudeus, that she's going to off herself. Rudeus was nearing death when Roxy helped him and he remembers his past experiences where he stopped caring about anything and everything. The anime did the volumes of the LN so dirty. If you're going to be anime only you're going to have to pay attention. Only Norn acting like a fundie had any delusion of monogamy. It's not even remotely common in their world. Norn harping about Millis but not even Zenith or Cliff seemed to pay that much attention when it came to their partner. Sylphie had the final say. Not Rudeus nor Roxy, and certainly not a child sibling. If you take modern sensibilities to a medival society you're just going to spin around in circles. MT is not superficial anime slop. The adaption leaves plenty to be desired but there's a ton here. For instance, in the LNs we've seen what Eris is up to. The anime threw up a placeholder gif. I don't know, but I certainly haven't seen Rudeus regret anything. Weird.
The anime expects people watching to pay attention to all the details, facial expressions, background, dialogue etc.... because it is very meticulous in its story telling, it cannot afford to just info dump how every character feels and thinks like the novel can. that's the issue with people reacting to this season, unless you are really open minded and willing to look at the context or are very media literate, then this season will just drive you insane because to someone who isn't paying attention or being open minded it looks like characters are being messy and causing drama for no reason. If she plans to watch S3 I really hope she rewatches S2 with a much more open mind and without trying to force modern western morality into a medieval dark fantasy setting.
They are 3 adults at the end of the day and can do what they want. Roxy definitely pushed herself into the family, I agree with that. Hopefully they can all live together happily lol. You're right the "sacrificed her own feelings" part doesn't make sense. She did and got everything that she wanted. I don't wanna say Rudy pitied her... but I think... that he did. I think Rudy was content with his current family. Regardless, I think Rudy will grow to love them both and has a lot of respect for Roxy.
My issue with Rudeus collecting pokemon is that Sylphie is literally perfect. She reminds me of my fiance to a tee (minus being open to polygamy thank god) so I can't comprehend wanting more when you already have perfection.
The point is that all of the main girls have strengths and weaknesses. Yes Sylphy is the perfect "wife" in that she will always support him and comfort him, but that's also a weakness because she can be TOO supportive to the point of encouraging his flaws and enabling him (for example excusing his cheating). Eris is the opposite, she's stubborn and confrontational so she pushes Rudy to be better and not get too comfortable, but it also makes her horrible at comforting him when he's depressed (which is what Sylphy is best for). Funny enough Roxy is supposed to be the middle ground between Eris and Sylphy and by the author's own words she is the "best wife" for Rudy. When the last episode aired he saw people hating on Roxy and tweeted out that had Rudy met with Roxy before Sylphy he would have married Roxy and refused to marry or sleep with anyone else, Roxy is the only girl Rudy would be truly monogamous with because she fulfills all his needs.
