The Tren Urbano (English: Urban Train) is a 10.7-mile (17.2 km) fully-automated rapid transit system that serves the municipalities of San Juan, Guaynabo, and Bayamón, in Puerto Rico. The Tren Urbano consists of 16 stations operating on 10.7 miles (17.2 km) of track along a single line. In 2022, the system had a ridership of 2,453,100, or about 10,800 per weekday as of the fourth quarter of 2022.
The Tren Urbano complements other forms of public transportation services in the San Juan metropolitan area such as the Metropolitan Bus Authority, the Cataño Ferry, taxis, and shuttles. The entire mass transportation system is operated by the Integrated Transit Authority (ATI), The Tren Urbano system is operated by Alternate Concepts, Inc. (ACI). Tren Urbano is also the Caribbean's first rapid transit system.

I agree that there should be a route from airport to old San Juan.

This was supposed to be phase 1. There was supposed to be like 3 more phases including the extension of the underground tracks and stations. The island went into an almost 2 decade long recession and they decided to postpone the later phases.

Thank you, I did not know that there were plans for 3 more phases. I felt traveling in metro was very convenient and at low cost. The station masters at both stations were very helpful even I don’t communicate in Spanish.

Yes, I just read recently that they are talking about starting on the next phase.

Hello from Santo Domingo. I think that Puertorrican's Goverment must continuin building more phase of masive transport, but implementing another kinda masive transportation like monorail, light trains or Maglev. Because, thoses type of Transportation are less expansive than Heavy Subway and easier for building in less times. In orde to, San Juan need thoses Project that Heavy subway instead, because San Juan is a Empty city.

I agree with you and they need a monorail or maglev that connects airport to the old San Juan. Now there is none other than taxis.

Yeah, both are great option for Puerto Rico. In my country, Dominican Republic, Goverment is building a Monorail and Cableway in the second largue City, Santiago. Those type transportation Will complete with 8 line of Electric buses. In Santo Domingo city, currently, Goverment is building a extention of second line of the Subway, and extention of the firt line too. The next year Will begin the third line of Subway with 42km in public-private alliance (Goverment Will building 10km and Private sector 32km of Subway). Complete with third line of Cableway, a light train in the most expensive and luxury avenues in the city with 12km of light train. Those kinda transportation are good option to San Juan PR. The Transit in San Juan is less crowd than Santo Domingo City. Light train, Monorail and Cableway are great, in orde to solve the transit problem in San Juan City.

I feel as if the route was very poorly planned. All major tourist points should have been included such as the airport, Condado, Isla Verde, Isleta, Catano ferry crossing, etc. Soaring fuel prices and inflation overall should have substantially increased ridership by forcing people to forgo their cars for daily commutes or leisure trips into the city proper. But not if the major points of the city aren't covered. The line is more of a regional rail that with no major park and ride on either end, nor proper feeder points for travelers in-between. It pains me to say it but it seems more like a showpiece of technology vs its true intended (and sorely needed) purpose.

I agree since I have to transfer twice from Airport to Old San Juan. The price of the tickets are reasonable but not convenient. At least the train should have connected Airport and Cruise terminals.🙏

@@TirelessWorldTravellerThe train stayed in its first phase. Look on the internet for the other lines. The current line is the skeleton of the subway.
