If there was no 2020 summer of peace, there wouldn't be the Commanders, Guardians, and a slew of college teams that changed their names. Not to mention the Bullets changing their name to the "wizards" because of urban violence.

Well I know some native Americans who were not crazy about the Nick name. Nothing is 100% ever but as long as there are some Indian minorities who don’t like it, that should not be the name.

Yeah my brothers and my sisters are a cowboys fan and I'm a Redskins fan I'm the only one in the family is a Redskin fan. But when the Redskins and the cowboys play that was history always called that game the game of the week of the year. When the cowboys and the Redskins play I call that the two American teams when they play I got Redskins tattoo on my arm they can't take that away from me be proud for who you are and you have a good day my good friend that's what makes football so fun to watch. My dream game was watching the cowboys in the Redskins in the super bowl but that would never happen cuz one of teens will have to remove to American team. Lol
The number one reason why Redskins fans hate the name change is because no one asked them what they thought. There was no fan poll or input. No vote on a new name. It was only changed cause some small group of easily offended people got offended and said it was racist. Redskins Forever!

As a lifelong die hard fan with 4 Redskins’s tattoos I went from never missing a play to I haven’t watched an entire game since the name change I’m native and commanders is a slap in the face! REDSKINS is why I’m a fan! I’m not from DC like most fans! I can’t even talk football with my friends anymore And I find myself wanting us to lose to spite that God awful name and logo ! Why get tattoos based upon a frigging game? Does that define who you are? Are you a winner because you cheer for the Redskins? That is a sad way to define yourself. Go out and help other people. Or animals. Make a difference in your town or community and get a tattoo based on your personal victories, not based on people playing a game. A game that kids play for free. Oh well.
The team was forced to change their name, I can't remember all of the details, but a lot of their corporate sponsors was putting a lot of pressure on Daniel Snyder to change the team name. I wasn't too happy with all of the name changes, but this team was going through so much drama with Daniel Snyder at the time the name changes wasn't on fans mind as much as all of the other BS Daniel Snyder was doing at the time. For me I am not focused on the team name, I just want to see them be a winning franchise again like in the 80's and 90's.
Let’s stop beating around the bush. Let’s go back to old name, old fight song and old uniforms. Yes go and build a new stadium on RFK sight again. We are going in the right direction with the personnel

I've been a redskins fan since I was a little boy.Vincent Lombardi was the coach. We can honor our past and build for the future, but it should be under the banner of the Washington Redskins.
Simple answer to that question... both. For many of us that were around during the 50's to the 70's, we remember when the Redskins were a joke in the NFL, then came Lombardi, then Allen, and finally Gibbs. The Cooke family in support, this team was more than equal to the Cowboys, Giants, and even 49'ers during that time. Understandable that those supporting this team under Snyder didn't have much to get behind. A few playoff seasons, but nothing further than first round. Constant issues, both off and on the field, didn't help much. With the change of ownership and leadership, the willingness to bring back the greatness of this team and combine with that fighting spirit of the new regime, and tie it together with something that all can take to heart. And not some moniker that was chosen by those that have percursory attachment without the knowledge of this team going back to its inception in '32.
Bringing back the Redskins name is a start in the right direction. Come back home to DC. No real football fan can get excited about the Commanders name.
Let's not forget the bravery the Redskins during WW1. Redskins were a unit of Native Americans. Let's not erase our native Americans from history if you please .

I have never called them the Commanders, never will. Have always, still do, and always will call them the Redskins. It's the only name I will ever give attention to. The only reason these types of idiotic things happen is because we allow it to. Maybe a little complaining, but nothing that really puts pressure on the powers that be to stop ruining historic and beloved brands out of lies, ignorance and political dogma. I really hope they do bring back the Redskin name and end all of this foolishness.
WOKE BS is the problem! Rational people and Logical reasoning is the only solution. The Redskins was one of the teams I liked. I was a Cleveland Browns fan. I lived in southern Ohio and the Bengals were my second favorite team. The only times I cheered against the Bengals is if them winning would effect the Browns in a negative manner. The reason that the Redskins were one of the teams that I liked is I lived in the Washington DC area twice in my life, once in College in Takoma Park, MD the second time I was Air Force and worked in USAF Intelligence at the Pentagon in DC.
I’m not a football fan, but the name should’ve never been changed. Redskins is an iconic name. The logo on the side of the helmet, also iconic. Did anybody ask the Native Americans if they were offended by the name and logo? Are we erasing their history by doing so?
People had been complaining for decades about the nickname Redskins. The owner simply did not care and swore he would never change it. Since he was earning millions, if not billions of dollars from the ones who supported the name, he felt he had no reason to listen to the "minority" of persons who are offended. And that is the problem with our society: people on top do not listen or care about people they see as not on top. "Money talks and BS walks." The NFL did not put any pressure on the owner, either, because they still make billions. At one time, while in office, Obama did comment, "if it were up to me, I would consider changing the Redskins nickname." But the owner was not even swayed by our president.
I am not a fan of washington but have seen them play several times but weather they are the comanders or change their name the name should not have anything to do with their winning games. To me that would have to do with the picks they make.
For those wanting the names, Warriors, RedWolves, Braves, unfortunately those can’t happen due to trademark ownership. NBA’s Golden State owns the Warriors trademark. Arkansas State University owns the RedWolves trademark. MLB’s Altanta owns the Braves trademark NC State owns the Wolfpack trademark. Everything comes down to trademark laws and regulations. Even Washington doesn’t own the trademark to the Commanders name, and has been denied multiple times to try and trademark the Commanders name.

I don't know why they chose 'Commanders' in the first place. They did a massive name change over the course of about a year, during which the fans were asked to submit ideas. The fans did this, some great names were put forward. And then they said "The new name will be Commanders", a name nobody seemed to suggest or even like.

The name change was just a cop-out from the start! We're still living in these PC times, but they are slowly dying in favor of reality. It has been unfair from the start that 2 franchises got singled out, while so many others were not even mentioned. The pinnacle of hypocrisy came in last season's Super Bowl when thousands of Chiefs fans loudly did the Native American chant to not one morsel of outrage! Time to bring back The Redskins & pave the way for yje return of The Cleveland INDIANS! A team with a gutless owner, that gave up an even older name & logo due to the pressures ultra-liberal commissioner instated another horrible name! GO REDSKINS!

Every season, the same high hopes are dashed by the end of January. I live in the UK and have been following Washington since 1983. The team has always been a contender for the division, a strong match for anyone visiting; however, these days, any other teams must think of Washington next Sunday. That's no problem. We'll snatch a victory in the last quarter. Washington can't maintain a lead even if you give them the leach of a guide dog. I would like to see the name changed back, as I even saw the first black quarterback lead a team to a victory in a Super Bowl (How can the name be racist if they did something no one else did?) If winning becomes a regular occurrence, that would be a start.
As long as you win it doesn’t matter what the name is. I would rather have Commanders than the Browns! Seriously what the heck is a Brown?! If Washington is going to keep the Commanders name then they need to work on their logo. Keeping it “W” on their helmet is lazy IMO
Redskins? Warriors? At this point they could bring back the Redskins and throw Snyder under the bus despite the pressure they put on him to cancel the nickname. Even with Warriors they could use most of the throwback helmets and uniforms. The early 70's yellow helmet would be the odd one out.

Bring back the name Redskins and replace the current mascot. Educate people about the traditions so they will have the knowledge to understand and not just say that is is racist.
