Very nice color. I just bought a pair of 840s in black from handcuff warehouse. I wonder why the rigid style has not caught on in the US? I plan on testing mine out at my department. I use chain and hinge both but these seem like much more control.
It's true. I think US police have a lot more latitude with the cuffs they can use. British police have to use what they are given and told to use.Rigid handcuffs do provide a lot of control. Whether TCH or Hiatt. You may find this old mislabelled training video useful for the previous model (still made in the US) by Hiatt. So all the principles are the same: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ep-pFVz_IEs.html
I like them a bit better. Slightly more rounded edges and they just feel nicer somehow, I think. Plus TCH are made by the same people who made the HIATTS versions, so that's always a nice thing, rather than the American versions. 🤣 That might be a bias on my part, being British lol.
@@cas_lovesjake8219 They do. I ordered some cuffs and then I ordered blue, red and yellow cases for TCH 840 so that as and when I get cheap ex-police cuffs online, I can put the cases on them to get the colour cuffs I want cheaper than brand new. I had my red grips on a gimmicked pair, but I sold that pair with the original black grips on. So now I currently do not have a red pair, until I one day buy another cheap cuff to put my red grips on.
@@cas_lovesjake8219 You have to contact the manufacturer directly. tchuklimited.co.uk/contact-tch/ Tell them that you wish to make an order and would like a quote for the price. They will send a prospective invoice to you and once you have paid they will ship.
@SilentButDescriptive Hello! I was wondering wether or not you may be selling the TCH840 rigid handcuff cases? I tried getting in contact with the TCH840 company, but they refused my request. They told me that they we're only accepting requests from people who are actually in a police force. Do you think it would be possible if i was to buy them from of you? Each case costs £5. I would pay you £15 for a blue, yellow & red case. If you have any thoughts on this then please let me know! Thank you.
@@SilentButDescriptive That's absolutely fine. Apart from that, I don't think it's possible to buy them elsewhere which kinda sucks. I'm just a little confused on how you we're able to get the company to accept your request if you don't even work in a force either.
I do not know. My first ever interaction with them was when I had to return a TCH842 for repair years ago. Perhaps they got suspicious about the card issue you had or something and just "said" they only do police. Or perhaps their policies have changed since I last ordered and they only sell to police now. I do not know. You can buy the whole handcuffs with those colours from the handcuff shop in the UK. But I do not know of anywhere else you can buy just the grips.
Very cool. I have all of them now I think. I thought I had done videos on them before but it seems that I have not. When I get more time I will put up a video on the yellow ones and my gimmicked red ones.
I’ve seen the reference to PSNI before and I wonder whether they are for street duties - as the PSNI are big fans of the UL1 folding cuffs. I think it’s more likely they are used by custody detention officers inside station. Hence why they aren’t seen often and makes sense - so the custody cuffs stay in custody and the street cuffs stay there. No “accidental” swapping of cuffs!
The video footage I saw were 2 women police officers visiting someone for either a television license thing or balifs to remove stuff from the home or something. I can't remember. I know the TCH850 or Hiatts UL-1 are a popular one in Ireland now.
