When you have a coach that wants to Coach the way she wants to coach rather than designing a system that focuses on the strengths of the players you have a losing team.
I have known a few coaches that had a system and you fit in the system regardless of your strengths. That is a coach that is inflexible. Ok when you have hard workers that overachieve but limits your stars.
Everything That Has Been Said About Caitlin Positive and/or Negative Never Came Out Of Her Mouth. It’s Been From Sports Shows, Play By Play Announcers and Other Female Players. How Can You Dislike This Young Lady. She’s A Great Role Model For The Game and She’s Getting More People To Watch The WNBA Along With Several Of The New Rookies.
She's not a good role model for the sport. There is no "I" in the word team. Who are the other players on her team? I can't name ONE of them. She's not a bad player. She can score. So? Basketball is a team sport. Everyone on the team that's a winning team, is special. I think the team she was on was poorly coached. My point is, if CC was out because of injury, who on that team could replace her? That's why UCONN has so many National Championships and IOWA has none. UCONN women's and men's (a 2x Championship team) play TEAM basketball.

Indiana is a terrible team...but wow...she really handles the press well..she says the right things and she has the most pressure of any WNBA player...oh yeah...she's only a rookie
Not me! Caitlin is not a team player and basketball is not golf, it's a team sport. She hasn't led her team to ONE National Championship and there are soooo many players as good as her who will be playing in college this year. CC was promoted because she's WHITE! We've always had players as good as her or better, but they're Black and never got the praise that she got. They are Maya Moore, Tina Charles, and Aaliyah Edwards to name a few.
She needs to be playing point!! For Pete's sake....she hardly touches the ball! Her ability to see the whole court and make great passes are not being utilized.

@@amancalledhawk5575 , you are spot on. Plum didn't come into the league and set it on fire either. Plum has found her footing with Vegas and is flourishing at the 1 and 2 spot in their offense. Because of Clarks huge popularity in college I think way to many people have put too great of an expectation on her. So much so they are blaming the coach for not scheming an offense around her. People forget the Fever got Boston as the number 1 draft pick last year and they also have Smith. Lynn Dune said it after the draft , the brought in Clark to compliment those two due to Clarks great passing ability. If Clark can get her passing going, without all the turnover, and dish to Boston or Smith in the low post then team will loosen up the double teams on her which in turn will free her up to shoot and create off the ball. People just need to settle down and give her time to adjust to a whole new world of players, coaches, city and playing styles. I mean just look at Plum and Wilson, both number 1 draft picks, they have been in the league for several years now and just in the last couple have they really started to shine.
what i don't understand is if you are happy with wheeler at the point why even draft Caitlyn? They should have picked up Cam Brink and actually gotten some more size and let Caitlyn go to one of the other teams that would have loved to have her on their team.

It's easy to put 3 or 4 people on one player and stop her, but the problem with thatyes If you stop her, you shut down the interest of people in the Women's basketball because without her.Nobody cares about women's basketball

After I watched one Post game with her I thought she is a cocky kid.... she is smarter than me, most coaches and clearly the league. She is unshakable and knows something nobody else does...she already a basketball legend and has lots of patience. She is not a kid anymore .... the Wnba got exposed last night... wait until she plays.... actually plays.

She is like a coach on the floor. Her teammates are slow and she is exposing them. Also, with a physical league who is bumping her all over the place, how the hell is Caitlin getting so many ticky tack fouls called on her and no fouls called against those bumping her. The only calls she gets is when she is hammered to the floor on a drive. Do not see this with any other player in the game. She is maintaining her cool throughout this BS initiation from both the refs and opposing players.
All the hype about this team, the most disheartening thing is to see how Boston is playing. I expected so much more than I've seen. Great young lady but needs work in her under the basket game.
I think it is an easy fix too. When Boston rebounds or catches a pass, she either dribbles or brings the ball down to waist level. She should not do that. It gives the defense extra time to get their hands on the ball. She needs to catch and shoot whenever possible. Also, maybe lose a few pounds to get down the court faster. Those are both doable. Oh…and get the team a new coach.
CC needs at least two teammates that don't quit on their cuts that can actually catch the ball to make opponents pay for doubling her. The ball has been there but they either quit on the cut, fumble the catch or miss a two footer. Her Iowa teammates are better than her current mates. If they can start catching and converting the double on her will be less aggressive opening up her game.
It’s even more sickening that Caitlin will take the heat for a very very self absorbed and ineffective Coach who seems hell bent from the very start that she would show Caitlin how to change. Maybe she should look at AB and the rest of this team who can’t run the plays fast and get up and down the court like IA did. There is bad blood there big time!
I’m from Indianapolis, Indiana. The Fever have always been terrible and they stay getting top 5 first picks and a lot of players end up being better once they go to other team. This is nothing new here to us.
She has too much class to say what she really wants to say but by saying "we" it's obvious that she knows it isn't all her fault that they are losing. I don't have that much class, so I'll say it. The coach stinks & many of her players are sitting back on their laurels & are not putting forth the effort. I guess they expect to be on the bottom again so they can draft another star next year. Eventually, they'll have enough talent to do something. I feel for Caitlin. She deserves to play for a team that will appreciate her for her talent & not just for the money she can make for them. Caitlin, ignore that crappy coach & take the shots you took in college & teach your teammates to catch your passes instead of watching the ball go past them.

Exactly. The five on the court during the third quarter should be your starters and build plays with them and around CC. CC knows how to direct the plays on the transition.

I'm from Mexico, I've never been interested in wnba. Until I saw caitlin playing for Iowa in March madness. Then I found out she was going pro and started following the league. I really enjoy all the teams. Still I'm caitlins biggest fan in Mexico. Been following her playing ever since.
She’s 6’0”, 152 lbs. I am not a coach, but going against the other women, you need size, like 162-172 should be her goal to get that muscle put on….train,train, train. There was less than a month to work out

In the last game ... no rebounds, lots of standing around, 'screens" - sometimes, just just lots of standing around with no help starting at half court. A lot of this is coaching. I watched MJ as he broke into the league. The similarities are striking. Give Catlin time and support, and watch the WNBA transform. WNBA, is your income going up because of your rookie crop? Clark as a Rookie has averaged 20.5 points per game so far & that’s pretty damn good for a Rookie. One player can’t win Ball Games independently, they need help form the other TEAM MEMBERS. So coaching needs to improve and The team members need to step it up and help Caitlyn Clark out. Also Indiana Fever need to draft a couple more really good players to add to the starting roster. Because where I’m seeing things is Indiana Fever only has 2 great players on the floor and Caitlyn is one of them!!!! I said great players not good or mediocre players, so they need at least one more great player on the floor to help The Fever win games. Which brings it back to what I said it takes a team effort to win ball games.

As far as I'm concerned basketball players are just like any other athlete, actors, and musicians. They're are simply entertainers. And it's not even questionable that she is selling jerseys, tickets, and bring the most eyes t watch online. Beyond games being held at bigger staduims to fit her fan base, ticket resales are selling $1000.
she is who we think she is but right now she's one of two decent players on the team. MJ didn't win any titles until hed had a complete team and that took 7 years.
Clark is a rookie and is adjusting and will learn from these losses. The fans really need to have realistic expectations. Give her some time. She cant get better if she doesnt play against the best teams and always wins. I used to be a coach and I had my teams play against older boys and players. They lost of course, but once they played against girls and players their own age they went and won 1st place in tournaments.

The reality is fever ain't going worst to first just by drafting cc, its gonna be a couple years before the fever get it going, a couple more number 1 overall picks to give cc the teammates that can help her make a difference
I called this from the onset. CC is surrounded by activists and NOT basketball people and none of them want her there. They have been freezing her out from her first exhibition game and are hell bent on making an example of her.
She's going to have it tough. You must remember the Fever were the worst team last 2 years. That's the reason they got the number one pick.. If the team can't get it together and become a real team, it's going to be a tough season for all of them..
I’m in my 50’s. I love sports. I’ve never even been remotely interested in the WNBA, until Caitlin Clark showed up. She’s a rookie, only a few games in, and people are already on her case. Calm the f*** down, she’s gonna be just fine once she really gets into her groove, gets more game experience as the season progresses, and starts to understand the pro league a bit more. She’s gonna be fantastic.

In Caitlin’s defense, she will need a bit of time to adjust to the higher intensity of the players. As for the coach, allow Caitlin to assume the “general roll” on the court and for the love of God, teach the other players to stop standing around.
