to be far the media is not helping the us team with the controversy. reeve will never admit to making a bad decision and to what her true reason for it is. but if it wasn't due to the petty arrogance and attitude by her and the rest of the committee i would expect this whole situation would never have happened. I really expect all of this controversy to be taken out directly on CC when the wmba season resumes and it's going to be there for the world to see as it will be televised, and I expect it to blow up in the wmba's face. mostly because women are very vindictive and really petty in their backstabbing treatment of other women this is so common that jokes have been made about it even before the birth of the internet. and there are some massive ego's in the wmba with huge chips on their shoulders.
I agree, I'm concerned that the media's obsession with talking about this could unfairly fuel resentment toward Caitlin. Caitlin doesn't deserve that, she has never spoken out against Team USA or the Selection Committee.

It’s about excitement and entertainment. If a Caitlyn Clark type player had been around 10 or 20 years ago, the effect would have been the same. She is fun to watch. She makes her teammates better. Iowa had two championship games in a row largely bc of CC. Without CC, I doubt that the remaining Hawkeye players make it to the Sweet 16 either year. The Fever had the worst record last year. With CC, the Fever should make the playoffs this year. They’ve shown themselves capable of beating the best teams in the WNBA, especially after the coaches and players figured out how to take advantage of CC’s skills and got through that gauntlet of games against some of the best teams without much practice.
Only way this matters is if Clark takes a hiatus once her contract expires and then we will see if over the next few years the W can stand on its own CC can play anywhere in the world and many teams would offer her 7 figure contracts knowing her Market and celebrity the dinosaurs controlling the W need to go or Adam needs to clean house at the end of the season. Cheryl said it best the W settled for less and if CC was being highlighted this would be true but soon, we will see they were fortunate to get what they got, Old saying you do not know what you got till it is gone.
DT is a great player. Unfortunately Diana like a lot of WNBA players are insecure when it comes to CC. She’s the most recognized female on the planet, Every player is going to benefit from this exposure.

WNBA management and leadership within the players union are ALL working very hard to make her not succeed, and as a result, she should change her focus to making money over “recognition in the WNBA”. Going forward this cohort will turn up the heat even higher and might attempt to give her a career ending injury on the court just so that group can say “see we were right she sucked”. Her manager should work with her sponsors so she can play for another country in the 2028 Olympics, and also reopen negotiations with Ice Cubes Big3 League so she can make money in the off-season domestically without having to go overseas. If time permits she should also figure out how to start accruing FIBA 3x3 points to qualify for the big international tournaments because she could probably play FIBA 3x3 into her early 50s. In addition, Wilson would name the specially designed 3x3 basketball after her if the above happened.
