Almost wetting his pants when he thought the fee was going from £10,000 a month to £10,000 a day. Oh and that's in dollars, actually no, suddenly it's Sterling.
He's a cockroach. No doubt he's played the race card throughout his career.. And it got him all the way to the second highest position in the U.K. government. I wonder if he has ever made decisions that enabled or helped or improved the lives of the average UK citizen?
@@badda_boom8017 well if you propose a budget that causes such concern in the financial markets that it causes a huge spike in interest rates and almost causes the collapse of pension funds then yeah, you can do that.
Where there is cost there is a beneficiary. He embezzled £70bn out of the Bank of England in quantitative easing to his mates in hedge funds in full glare of the UK media. He wasn’t incompetent. He was ruthless.
Petition to bring back the stocks, with tarring and feathering for politicians! For Hancock, Bojo, Sunak maybe an upgrade to the stocks. "HDQ" springs to mind!
@Archon I think this getting this legislation in to have active MPs tax returns under FOI should let us see what’s going on and it’s perhaps subtle enough to actually get seriously debated and considered… if it gets that far (struggling for numbers atm)
Spot on transparent. If it was about national security, they would have cracked on with an unsecure network, or sent texts. But this is about the wonga...
I guess all the booze on the shelves in the background is for work events, it’s not like the Tories don’t have previous. 😩 Maybe if your business office was in a lounge bar, there might be more bottles.
In fairness, the Junior doctors have real skills, technical knowledge and a work ethic. The two politicians that you mentioned, do not have any of those attributes.
I get what your saying but junior doctors in large numbers want £19ph from the tax payer. The MPs want it from the private sector. If they are worth that money is down to the people paying for them just like footballers. To pay the £19ph would mean raising taxes. Sure we can raise rich people's taxes but as much as we think it will make a difference, the number of rich millionaires is not enough to make a dent to cover the £19ph. The UK needs to improve its productivity by having more highly skilled jobs with higher wages to create additional income tax revenue to create funds for the NHS. That's the unfortunate economics.
@@tanveerUKhan15 If we wait until the tories do anything to help improve productivity then you can be pretty sure we won't have much of an NHS left. I can guarantee you that 50% of the F1s and F2s that I work with will be gone in the next 2 years given the present working conditions and payscales - why would they stay if the can move somewhere that treats them with respect, and which allows them to live some sort of life outside of work. Then good luck to you, as you will be paying far more in private health insurance contributions than you are in tax, and even then, there won't be enough doctors to look after you.
@@rl3799 yes I agree. Though I don't think Kier starmer is the guy to resolve things as he simply makes statements the public want to hear but doesnt tell us how he can do it. The country had a chance to fix the NHS by putting Corbyn who is outside of this elite system as PM of this country. The people choose Brexit and immigration over the NHS. We all knew Boris was not honest and would sell out the NHS but the people still voted for him. I think the Tories will still win the next general election because Kier Starmer isn't showing to be a good prospect.
And this is what MP's really excel at: "selling themselves". Most are just like car salesman telling buyers (whether corporations or voters) what they want to hear.
Interesting how quickly he switched from USD to GBP. Of course when he was chancellor he did his best to achieve parity between the two currencies. Good work guys. I can't wait to hear why Handoncock thought he was worth £10k a day.
Terrifying. He clearly did no research, had no idea this wasn’t a company, and midway, I thought he was the one who’d rung her for an interview. To think these people have access to public funds and security agencies is truly terrifying.
The only thing that matches his gargantuan greed is his boundless laziness … You would think he would have a brief doublecheck of this made up company.
@@garnhamr I think he’d have given them anything they asked for. It’s just shocking to me, these people claim to be the party of law and order, and national security. They’ve broken the laws they made, and these ministers did nothing to assess the validity or intent of this company, which could have compromised national security. Scary times.
2:53 Interesting as a Brexiteer he is keen to emphasise his European connections. I wonder whether his French, German and Italian “counterparts”would have given him a reference.
Kwarteng needs to resign as MP, over this. Due to him been business / Energy minister the UK still had the Energy crisis, which we are all still paying for. As Chancellor, the economy crashed & all pension funds were so damaged, they have still not recovered. Yet he talks about £10,000 / day as not a kings ransom, the company would expect pay back big time, for that kind of money.
This is priceless , Surely nobody would actually vote for this man now? Here he demonstrates just how far he can plummet into the depths of greed and his own vanity.
That might be wrong to assume. I cant see a single mainstream news channel reporting on this yet so its probably gonna be ignored and forgotten. Most people will probably never even know.
He'll still retain his Seat at the Next Election, just wait and see. Why ??? Because the electorate are so STUPID. They could have voted Labour in 2019 but decided to give BoJo a majority instead. Fishy Rishi will win comfortably at the next one ... and for another Five Years, we'll all be complaining about the Tories, and just how bad and corrupt they all are.
This man? If this had been literally any other Tory MP, it would have gone the same exact way. You'd think they'd actually research the company to check it existed first though - Jesus.
And he said that was his secretaries office, imagine the booze & probably a big bag of cocaine in his office!! It`s not easy to tell if that`s true though. He is a Tory after all.
@Max the maltipoo if it was a gift from a grateful constituent then it should have gone home, if they are allowed gifts. But this looks like it's there so he can enjoy a glass with a colleague or someone he's trying to impress. While the rest of us mugs work hard to support the failing post brexit economy.
He is so blinded by his greed that he suspects nothing in the fact that in the space of one minutes conversation the lady has increased his day rate by 3000%.
I’m not sure that’s what he means. He expects to do one days work per month, so basically the same. I’d love to know if he asked what they wanted him to do, other than asking how much. I’d love to see the raw footage.
yes, and its not just that hes blinded by greed, he also thinks it completely normal to be discussing how he can use his position as a government insider to help a foreign company for money
He accepted dollars and when she clarified " dollars or stirling?" he couldn't believe his luck when he said stirling and she didn't flinch. He came across as really desperate for the job. You wouldn't believe he had one already.
It’s the stupidity that gets me. If a company contacted you out of the blue offering you lots of money for work for them wouldn’t you do a bit of research and find out if they are legitimate or not. And if you couldn’t find anything about them wouldn’t you think that was a bit dodgy?
I would assume it’s spam and not even open it. I published something a month or so ago, an immediately started getting emails congratulating me and offering to work with me on further submissions. I would assume it’s predatory, he’s very naive.
5:01 Of his generation in the UK there are indeed very few people who have done so much damage to the UK economy in so short a time. The UK population are still paying for it😡
Our MPs literally couldn't care less about the people they're supposed to represent. Something has gone horribly wrong with the way Westminster works over the past 12. years.
It's been this way since Thatchers time. People need to stop voting for conservatives and liberals, only leftist Politicians will even try to stand up for the everyman
What, you think it was better before that? What we had before was semi-functional neo-liberal capitalism. Now we have disaster capitalism. To think that politicians weren't indulging in this sort of thing before David Cameron is naive.
And Liz Truss (remember her ?) has reportedly recommended Kwarteng for a Peerage to the House of Lords. Then, he could presumably double his daily rate to £20k per day ! 🤣🤣
"I wouldn't be looking at a king's ransom. So, just the 10,000 pounds a month." Yup. Can you imagine what he'd be asking for if he was looking to earn a lot? The greed permeates within them.
The sooner that politicians are barred from freelancing, the sooner they can concentrate on doing the job they were elected to do in the first place. As long as lining their pockets is an option, representing their constituents will always come second.
Rory Stewart seems pretty honest and level headed, but then again he left the party fairly recently due to disagreeing with the parties policies and people in in charge.
Quackie, is trying to convey, by implication, that he’s been reading intelligence reports about geopolitics and the Ukrainian invasion to endear himself to the interviewer.
Anybody else ever had a decent job that actually allowed you to go and take other paid work, and not do the job that you were originally contracted to do?
Apparently a study found they on average they work 60 to 70 hours per week for £84k 😂😂 And between jan 20 and Aug 21 sitting MP’s accumulated £10m in second income revenue. The recent sky report estimates over £17m since the end of 2019. Of which £5m was for Boris. I’m all for people earning a good living, but having worked long hours for many years I know There’s not much time left in the day, to do anything more than eat, sleep, repeat! The full system is corrupt
Ex-Chancellor of the Exchequer and he couldn't calculate 8,000-10,000 GBP for 12 days. Thinks about it for a couple of seconds, errs and ums, and says "we can work with the numbers".
I think he was comparing the yearly difference between his request for 10,000 a month (120,000 a year) with their top offer of 12,000 a day for 6 days a year( 72,000 a year). The errs and umms are because of that not so small a difference (he phrased it as “we aren’t a million miles apart). I think I he mentioned 12 days as to say: if work for you 12 days in a year at your average rate of 10,000 a day I will get the 120,000 I was looking for.
An additional concerning aspect of the interview is how he asked nothing about the company and his role. An interview should be a two way street in which both parties share and learn and determine if they are a suitable match. Kwarteng's only concern was the salary. He literally would have sold himself out to anywhere for a few quid. Desperate.
How can they be so short of work to do, as an MP supposedly representing their constituents in parliament? The greed and irresponsibility is so upfront.
So blatant that they care about anything but lining their own pockets. They should be made to work 40 hours a week and operate a clocking card. I’d like to know how many hours they have to put in for their 84k MP salary
@@paulstevenson9902 And of course there'll be numerous companies offering handsome salaries, for very little work, after some time as an MP or minister. Just so long as they do one or a dozen things that their lobbyists want them to do. It seems to me that politicians enter politics just so they can get high earning positions either after or during some time in government. (nik clegg springs to mind, and the milliband bros.) Rotten to the core. What is left for the government to hawk to foreign investors and pension funds? ...Royal Mail is all i can think of. And they seem to be running that into the ground. How can what is essentially a monopoly lose money?
They are telling people to live on £7 a day and nurses and doctors to be happy with £10-£20 per hour. Greedy mother 🤬🤬🤬🤬 Hope they will be prosecuted for this what they have done to all of us.
He interviews worse than he budgets. I bet he was gutted when he was asked for a statement and realised the 10k a day was just bait 😂. I’m looking forward to the hanCOCK interview. It just shows what total disregard these tories have for their constituents.
The basic annual salary for an MP is £84k which frankly isn’t a lot if you want elite people. He doesn’t bat an eyelid at being offered more than a months wage, for a days work. It seems ordinary to him. That’s a staggering amount of money for anyone to receive, over a months pay for very little work, and there’s no reaction from him.
Did no body tell him that all that face touching and scratching is not a good look in an interview? keep your hands in your lap, gently clasped, raise occasionally to make a point. also learn your 12 times table.....
Oh nice the whole thing. Does this mean we get the hunt one as well? I'd be Interested in the others too, even if they didn't go as far. It's illuminating how basic these "connections are made" "we would need to have a...relationship... But you seem like an intelligent person" deals that effect the country are made in meetings of no substance like this.
It's the fact that not one of them has done ANY due diligence before agreeing to speak with the 'company'. Which is bizarre. But not entirely unexpected
Absolutely. Everyone seems so quick to condemn greediness etc, but this is the key point for me. He’s keen to work for money, but he doesn’t have a clue who these people are.
The fact that he is willing to agree to work with a company that he has done no due diligence on, he has no idea how ethical (or even legal) they are, what they do, who owns them and whether they have links with people who have been banned from having business dealings in the UK is absolutely shocking. All companies need to carry out due diligence by law, and yet our MPs apparently don't have to. He hasn't even asked what will be expected from him or made any disclaimer that he will not be able to share confidential or sensitive information. This should be a case for the Standards Committee, surely?
@@Blonde_Somnambulist could not agree more, this country is going downhill with this wokery...I fear labour would be just as bad possibly worse with their tick boxes.
the "I am sitting in my office in parliment" and the dropping his roles, "my american counterparts, my european counterparts" his connections... he KNOWS he is being hired for his influence and not his time and he is ACTIVELY trying to sell that.
I wonder whether Kwarteng considered what his constituents in Spelthorne (whom he is paid to represent in Parliament !) thought about his moonlighting ? Thought not ! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Every job I've ever had has had a clause in the contract stating that I could not work for someone else at the same time. I always had contracted hours - that bit is usually flexible, especially nowadays, but doing work for someone else is a dismissable offence. As it should be. MPs earn a good salary compared against most people's earnings, but not compared with the other kinds of professional jobs most MPs could walk into. However, when you take a job on, the salary is clear. If it's not enough for you, go and do another job instead, not as well as. It's really not that difficult.
Not completely true. If you are on zero hours contracts (sadly as a school teacher I am), we are allowed to work other jobs, frankly to make ends meet. Doesn't compare to these MPs though. I think nurses and all those gig workers get the same deal.
@@ronniechowdhury3082 If you're allowed to work other jobs then there's not something in your contract that says you can't. Zero hours contracts would be a great thing if you could take on many contracts and not be committed to any of them. Of course, that's far from how they work. It's another method of outsourcing, designed to remove responsibility from an employer. And yes, nurses and a lot of other hospital staff are on such contracts. It's just another form of privatisation - government takes out a contract with an agency, they no longer have responsibility for the staff, and their chums running the agencies cream money off the top.
I agree that parliamentarians should be held to a higher stand of integrity but I disagree that anybody should be contractually disallowed from further employment. In fact your comment just sounds like “I had to suffer it, so everyone should.”, which is a woefully unproductive mentality for people to hold.
@@TransientNeurotic OK then, put yourself in the position of the employer. You pay someone's wage and agree to them turning up to work and doing their job. But instead of doing that, they've taken on another job, potentially using insider information they get from the job you're paying them for. These are standard conditions in employment contracts. Can I assume from this that you're either self-employed or haven't read yours? Or just fortunate enough to have an employer who's happy to pay you to work for someone else? As for politicians, voters vote for MPs to represent them. They do not expect them to instead use their position of power to gain employment elsewhere. We live in an free market society. If you want to be an MP, do your MP's job. If you don't, go and work somewhere else.
