Nah, they aren't losing money. It's a $38.12B company as of January 2024...They just want to fleece us for more while giving us broken crap. I'm so done with this game. It's sad. This was my go-to escape game but since the sims 4, I've been enjoying it less and less.
Life by you and paralives are the only real "sims" games I'm looking forward to playing. Because I've had it up to here trying to fix the sims 4 through mods when it's not even my job to make sure the game works correctly in the first place.
As a silent viewer This New Update has really made me frustrated the pulsing cart is annoying as hell it also has resulted a bug with my saved games where pie menus are not showing up but it is making noise but nothing pops up it's frustrating as hell because i payed more then 40 bucks for this game and it's freaking broken.
I've read (from a player on another creator's video) that that happens to sims with a singing skill higher than 5...cheating that skill down below that should fix that, for now. Don't know if that's actually true or not because I won't touch the game anymore but maybe you want to try and see if that works so you can at least play?
As someone who has spent over $1,000.00 on this game (and DEEPLY regretting it btw) there's something you should know. The more you buy, the worse the game gets.. and I don't even play TS4 anymore because of the outrageous amount of bugs and issues. I'm just saying this to save you money and frustration lol. I mean, it's your money and you can spend it how you want, but I wanted to share the warning with you at least fellow Simmer.
The UI is messed up and I don't know what mod is causing it. So now I have to comb through everything one by one just so they can advertise packs I'm not gonna buy. Yay!
@@sugarcloud_2609 Not true, many of my mods have been fine through a ton of updates. Maybe a tweak or two for a handful, but they made an essential change to the code that made this a bigger deal then some other updates. I forget the details but it has to do with how each pack is coded or something so many library mods other mods depend on even broke.
Or just not play, there are litterally better games. Getting into coral island, PalWorld, and two point hospital myself. Not the same thing, but fun with cozy vibes and if I really get a sims itch, I will play Sims 2.

Damn, as an avid sims 3 player I'm used to having to get rid of ads and pop-ups whenever I enter build/buy. But to have it there constantly flashing and I can't get rid of it? That's just unacceptable.
It's the fact that it is clearly targeting newer and younger players who are unaware of how broken most of the dlc, especially older stuff, is to try and trick them into purchasing these without checking out reviews first that is truly gross behavior. I am also continuing to be disappointed in some, some, bigger Simmers that have stopped doing reaction videos to these kinds of things, as well as suddenly doing ,"using a pack feature i forgot about!" videos that are just "commercials" to get their followers to purchase some of these packs using their codes. Smh
Who have you noticed is untrustworthy? How did you find that out? I don't want to support someone I shouldn't. I've watched Lilsimsie play a pack once and it started glitching UNPLAYABLY. So she immediately starts rattling off a list about this packs amazing features like nothing's happening with the same facial expression and cadence. I forget that people act for the camera sometimes.
@@DiscoTimelordASD if you follow anyone who is doing this, then it should be obvious. If you think someone you like may be doing it but you missed it, then just check their video lists and see if there has been a change, if not, you are following a good one.

It's just IMHO of course but sims 3 was far less in your face about it. You saw it in CAS and build/buy but it was easily ignored. This button in live mode is several steps too far.

A single shirt for $5 bucks isnt as bad as a kit being $5 and adding items to the build/buy menu that you didn't own to try and entice you into buying the packs is far more in your face than a single button in the corner of the screen. I stopped buying since parenthood came out. Only tiny living I bought. The last thing I added was free. But only the normal updates are breaking my game

EA just laid off 670 people (or 5% of their workforce) yesterday, according to CNBC, and announced plans for "sunsetting games and moving away from development of future licensed IP that we do not believe will be successful in our changing industry,” according to their CEO. (I work in tech--not the gaming industry--and this crossed my LinkedIn.) I wonder what this is going to mean re: getting things fixed, well, ever. (And it's been my experience in and out of tech that layoffs happen to keep profit margins high. EA isn't losing money.)
People have to start boycotting the sims if they want change. Content creators are one thing, we need someone communicating these updates (thank you Yin), but the common players should really stop purchasing content from EA. They’re greedy and money hungry and have proven for a couple of years now that they don’t care about feedback. They’re the most despicable game studio in modern day gaming
I've been saying this since MWS but there are always going to be buyers. EA has just discovered a new demographic for this game, a lot that haven't played the previous ones. They'll buy packs blindly this way. It's the free to play way nowadays. I hope people will boycott but I'm not holding my breath.
I've started thinking about this too. Sims content creators need to stand up about this. If the sins franchise dies then so will the content creators that depend on it for their bills.

I'm generally silent on the sims issues since I don't want to aggravate people but The Sims 4 at the moment is really disconnected with reality. There are SEVERAL projects in the works that are producing games with elements similar to the sims. You'd think that with upcoming competition the sims team wouldn't be doing this. I'm definitely not playing the sims 4 or purchasing any packs until the feature is either removed or dulled down a little. Especially considering that this shopping cart is DEFINITELY meant to prey on people so they impulse buy it. I'll definetly be switching over to older sims games like the sims 2. It's disappointing the sims is continuously doing stuff like this. And the fact that they are valuing corporate greed and making money than fixing actual game breaking issues is vile.
On the other hand, I think Sims 4 is getting worse BECAUSE there are competitors appearing. This seems like the last dying gasps of the franchise imo, and EA/Maxis are trying to milk every last cent before it gets abandoned for Sims 5.
So if you ask me....They went out their way to Break the Mods/the Modding Community, so that All Players wouldn't have choice but to get the closest Equivalent DLC! Honestly I was very upset probably unreasonably so over the new cart icon. I have adhd and other sensory issues and unwelcome sudden changes coupled with flashing buttons is a bit of a breaking point for me. I was having a lot of fun with my game (I rediscovered some cool mods ) but I don’t think I’m going to play till this button is gone. I feel super bad for people with epileptic issues this button isn’t just instructive and predatory but a major accessibility issue. Pardon my rant but I’m rather upset.

What makes it even worse though is they already made crappy accessibility decisions like with the original blue loading screen but they didn't even learn from it and are doing it all over again. I still watch sims commentary and builds but I stopped playing a while ago. As a LONG TIME PLAYER (since sims 2). I’m not giving any more money or letting myself get frustrated by bugs and etc. I just can’t wait till some competition comes and maybe then they’ll get their act right.
I saw someone say this an I have to agree. it seems almost too convenient for the update that adds a big flashing cart to advertise more dlc also being the exact same update that breaks almost all mods. at the very least until mods are fixed I wont be playing and might not be able to play unless theres a way to get rid of the flashing cart icon because I will get distracted by it. and again the homepage has advertisements for the dlc's your don't have- as does the ea app. like damn guys
i am so over this, i was going to get for rent when they fix it but at this point idc if they fix it today. i am not buying anything else from ea. idek if i am going to keep playing because it's just so broken and now the mods that made it fun aren't working either, which i wouldn't mind updating if ea did ANYTHING good.
Sims 4 is the MOST disappointing and annoying game to even try to play atp. I’ve gone back to 3 and recently got back into 2, yeah those games have their issues however I can safely say that idc about the bugs and glitches in the two previous games bc they are actually worth putting time into. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve had to fix basically everything in 4, it’s honestly gonna get worse than sims 3 in terms of how many bugs are in the game. Not to mention that pack integration basically doesn’t exist anymore, they need to let this game die it’s been over 10 years and I feel like the game has no more to give anymore.
I've heard people talking about how this situation reminds them of the last (official) days of TS3, and perhaps they're on to something. The thing is, Project Rene is nowhere near releasing so I have no idea wth Maxis is thinking. Are they done with the passive- aggressive incompetence and decided to go straight to self-sabotaging? Yeah, when sims 3 was nearing the end, they advertised sims 4 coming for the last year . They went as far as putting a poster for sims 4 into the game which was extremely big. Then you had the store advertised and at the beginning of every single set of objects in BB or CAS you had all these store features content you could purchase before seeing things you actually owned.
As a PC player I am waiting on mods to remove that terrible icon but I def feel for console players. What about people with sensory issues? The whole thing is so tone deaf but what else is new with EA. 😑
I already have a mod that gets rid of that ad filled "home screen." It was annoying in sims 3 (I turn off the in game-store). They have that awful main loading screen that's a sensory nightmare. Fix bugs? They sleep. Add more sensory nightmares to force more ads down your throat? Real shidd.
I updated it last night and the update put a bug on my game where my sims can’t talk to other sims, and I play on pc🥴 This is getting out of hand if every “bug update” just brings another bug what’s the point of it in the first place.💀
It sounds like the EA team was feeling nostalgic about the old Sims 3 UI and Sims Store. I can't wait for EA to return to selling individual items for purchase, showing what paid items I'm missing in CAS, mystery boxes/spin the wheel, and doing those deal of the days promotions /s! It's almost incredible how often EA consistently tries to see how far the company can get away with monetizing the players, even at the expense of backlash.
I expected Mods to not work right for a bit, but even my CC is broken now. If I have anything non-EA in my game, my mailbox doesn't work. Plus the annoying, triggering (medically and otherwise) flashing icon right next to the next level and gallery buttons is distracting and pain inducing. I have migraines and epilepsy-like symptoms. This is a bad problem. My mother is in her mid-seventies and plays Sims, but she has inadvertently hit that cart button several times already because of the location. She owns every DLC pack and doesn't need a stupid cart icon. When new packs come out, I buy them for her (though we'll be holding off on Crystals, despite my really, really wanting the pack - won't be able to play it with that flashing icon in there so why buy it?) The mods breaking is annoying as heck, but I'm used to that. But the obvious icon set up to try to push packs is obnoxious. And if they down the road make it have merch, that's even more obviously a cash grab. And what if they pull what happened in Sims 3, where you had to individually buy DLC items (like a single outfit each time) for cash? That's what this button screams at me will happen in future. That it's being tested to sneak in these other things in future. I am very frustrated. And Mom is near tears.
Well, maybe you shouldn’t buy every pack when it comes out if you want a better game. I don’t know how you don’t see this disconnect. It’s one thing if you genuinely enjoy it, but you don’t, and purchasing packs is a big part of why the game is like this. It doesn’t matter if the new pack offers one CAS item or feature that you think you’ll like; it’s going to be disappointing. If you want the game to be better, stop buying it.
@@giversinner971 I have very few problems with the new packs, actually. The bugs are annoying but I am willing to deal with them and I haven't complained about them. But the flashing was NOT something I signed up for. As well, EA has supported modders, but then their new PATCH (not pack) breaks all mods? I don't know where you got the idea I had trouble with the new packs that keep coming out. Neither problem I mentioned was created by a pack release but by a PATCH update.
after the update i didn't have the cart at all, although my game did randomly crash. i suspect it might still show up for my game. if EA is losing money on the Sims it is because they refuse to fix the bugs that have been there for years and keep putting more bugs into your game with every additional pack. I refuse to buy anymore packs while my current game/packs remain broken. It's frustrating enough, i don't need MORE bugs. I stopped playing for 2 years because I was so annoyed. Came back and lo and behold it's not better.
Okay I checked mine version, and thankfully it was not pulsating. It had like little yellow dot on it, as in unread but that was it. Phew. I was worried game will be unplayable.

I’m currently rebuilding and recreating custom and classic sims franchise families for my save so I have barely noticed any of these gameplay bugs lol. Since I do go into a little bit of gameplay to cheat careers/skills/family trees and all of my content is pirated (bless Anadius & Co.) I’m surprised I get NOTHING, the only bug I’ve had is not being able to open the “expansion cheats” section specifically for milestones of MCCC but that’s been happening since a little while after Growing Together weirdly, there’s a mod specifically for it that works alongside MCCC so that’s cool, UI Extension wasn’t working with MCCC for me WAYYYY before this update so I’m very grateful to the mod gods rn 🙏🙏🙏 ALSO MY CART HAS NEVER PULSATED IM SO HAPPY good luck to the modders getting rid of this bs
No fix fot the club system from Get Together in this update. It was the only good feauture bug free in my game. Now it works at half, or nothing at all. Oh and the interaction "ask to move in" completely broken.😞
Yeah I have the move in bug too, I got around it somehow but I forget how. I was playing the not so berry challenge and trying to move the previous gen out.
my game has been unplayable after the update. I don't have a powerful computer, but before the update I could play without issues and with mods. Now there are no mods and I've just updated my drivers, all other games are running better... then ts4

I agree that maybe they're a bit low on cash, because WHY else would they be pushing so hard for us to buy packs??? Just last week I kept getting pop up adds when I opened the game (main menu) for MY WEDDING STORIES?!?!?? Yk, the pack thats STILL broken!! This is ridiculous.
Trust, the EA share holders aren’t anywhere near broke even if they see a decline in sales after this, most execs at EA could cut there own saleries by more than half and easily pay their developers to work on bug fixes. Which they won’t do not because they don’t have the money, but because greed drives every thing the do. I get games need to make money and turn a profit, but Sims isn’t hurting on either of those things.

I just quietly stopped playing months ago when I had a legacy save file I’d been working on for years get corrupted. I play the sims 3 or the sims medieval, those games can be laggy and buggy but still somehow are more functional than the sims 4 and definitely more fun. The only thing that ever brings me back to the sims 4 is build mode and that has been so laggy and buggy since I bought for rent I just don’t want to bother. Y’all better stop buying these packs and kits if u want a decent quality game
Even though I love The Sims i did not buy For Rent regarding all issues with the game. Furthermore I will not buy the new Crystal Creations Stuff Pack. Weirdly I didn’t have the pulsating cart symbol when i started my game.
I think I can safely say that I will not be buying any more Sims 4 DLC. I love The Sims in general, but enough is enough EA. This is an insult to the player base.
The only way the game doesn’t survive (and thrive) is by them seemingly intentionally running it into the ground Yeah right like I’m about to spend more for Project Renee or whatever with how they’ve abused their customers in the Sims 4. This is too much and they keep wondering why they’re failing when constantly giving us poor quality, broken, overpriced content instead of just doing the very best they can to make the game incredible. My flashing cart button advertising For Rent, Horse Ranch, and a kit. For Rent is broken, and it's not going into my game until fixed. I'm not interested in other stuff i have not purchased either (like Batuu and half the kits).
People need to understand that to give players a 1000$ game that doesn't work and to keep churning out new DLC instead of fixing most issues is not a mistake, it's not being shorthanded, it's not the economy. It's a business model. I don't believe for a second that EA is not making enough money, they just can't get enough for their fat wallets and shareholders. Sadly, it takes most new players (especially when young) too long to see how broken the game really is (and EA are doing their best to hide it and be intransparent/uncommunicative), and until then EA already has lots of their precious coin.
That's why I paid 0$ for The sims 4...and I have all dlc up to date(for rent being the last update for me). Ain't no way I would pay 40$ for My wedding story just to get a broken and unplayable product
gonna try the Vivaland dream house demo for Vivaland today- at least they're giving players something to play while they wait even if it is just the build/buy mode I'm thankful I haven't had to suffer all these game breaking bugs or invasive advertising tactics - granted I play sims 3 - the tactics were just different and done better then i guess
I play on Console so after the patch I accidentally clicked on it and it crash my game immediately 😅. Playing on console on the sims is already a struggle with bugs/No Mods . Thx EA.
all mods are broken, okay so I disabled them and updated some. Now the game is messed up. There are problems with university, issues with going to class. The auto-going to class is no longer there. Also auto going to work. My mods are off, and it still does it. Cannot get leftovers from the fridge. The dust is popping up 4 times a day which is annoying. spending my whole day vacuuming. There is so much more. Please fix it.
I will not purchase another sims 4 dlc until we get in game ads taken away. This game has been out for too long and most simmers have spent a stupid amount of money on a game that barely works without mods and the amazing mod community. This is a slap in the face of simmers who can not wait for other options in simulation games to go live.
This latest update has broken SOO MANY MODS. It’s taking me HOURS to find them and remove them to even play the game again. Fortunately I did not get the stupid pulsating cart in my update
I'm not buying the Sims 5. I had enough of going through the ups and downs of Sims 4. I didn't like how negative the Sims community was/is, but I can clearly see now that it's not negativity at this point but pure frustration and disappointment with the Sims 4. At first, bugs didn't bother me in the game, but it got worse as they released more content.
I don't update. Haven't updated since the chef's pack. Hadn't updated before that was before the prepatch High School but i had to after a year of not updating because my game needed to be repaired. Which pissed me off because my apartments in cutview are a mess with walls and doors. I knew that would happen when I had to repair the damn game. I'm just hoping i can get by without updating again.
As a former Sims Player it is sad and shocking that EA and The Sims have done this, and not surprising either. I'm glad that I left the Sims Franchise last year, it's nonsense like this that's making OG players like myself get tired of The Sims and want to play something else entirely. The current state of The Sims Franchise and the silence of the 'Sims'Gurus is shocking, if the gurus are such fans of the franchise, why aren't they speaking up?
I don't have to buy every package and every kit in Sims4, which has more than 70 DLC and kit packages in total! The bugs are never fixed, they add more bugs that cause the game to crash, and they also force me to buy a new DLC. This is such a shame. I haven't even bought a new package for a long time. I didn't buy Rent, My Wedding Stories or Star Wars because they still haven't fixed their bugs. Instead of fixing the mistakes of so many packages, they stubbornly release new packages and infuriate people. Then EA gets angry because people download the game via torrent. I'm sorry, but first think about your customers who are loyal to you, then get angry! From now on, I have no hope left from EA. I don't have any hope for Project Rene either. If I want to play The Sims, I will either download the pirated version, or if I want to play online, I will go and play SecondLife. It is enough!

I am a console player, games has cost me around $1500can and since the so called “bug fix update” my sims glitches every time I try to get her to play a guitar or violin!! What a shame. EA forces you to updste if you wanna play (cause offline mode is an alien concept to them), but if you do, your saves get borked and all the hourd you put on it are wasted, but all they care about is keep selling.

It’d be awesome if my sims can make them too! I’d prefer to not buy anything from them anymore since they deleted everything and I had to get it all back etc.

I really doubt that this is some limited test, too many simmers seem to have stumbled across. Hope they have the good sense to remove it and apologize to the community but I doubt it.
I would love it if the Sims player base staged a boycott where on the next DLC to come out no one purchased it. If they saw a significant drop and sales, maybe they would do something about the state of the game
