And to top off the last thing I said as long as they are on their property doesn't matter if it's a condo or an apartment building or anything like that. You as an officer cannot give somebody a DUI in their own driveway because you can't arrest someone on their own property without a warrant. So since you didn't have a warrant before you got there, you don't have any probable cause that they are actually committing a crime on public roads I can be as drunk as I want and drive around on my own property if I so choose main reason why I know that is cuz I worked at a campground during the Sturgis motorcycle rally. This is why I keep saying that America's drug laws are ridiculous. The USA has the largest prison population in the entire world right now -- even more than some of these third world cesspools. America believes the answer to everything is prison. The problem is that the punishment is far worse than the crime. Especially if you're young. Plus -- a lot of productive people with homes and families have been shunted off to prison for a measly 3 months because they got caught with less than an ounce of resin in their car. Because the guy likes to smoke a joint or two on the weekends to reduce the stress from his high-paying job. Now, because of a lousy 3 month sentence, he'll almost certainly lose his job. Which means he'll probably lose his home because he's now 4 weeks behind on his mortgage -- or he would've been evicted almost the very next month after his incarceration. The problem is that he might have gotten a 3 month sentence -- but he probably had to sit in prison for 6 months waiting for a trial. By then he will have lost everything. And went he gets out of prison, he'll have no family, no job, and no home. Plus now he has a recent drug possession charge on his record -- so he goes from being a high functioning, highly-paid, family man with a nice house, an expensive car, etc. to being a homeless bum with a record and no real prospects except minimum wage work. He lost his job, lost his home, lost his family -- his children are all screwed up living with the mom --- who planned to be a stay-at-home mom and thus has no appreciable skills -- brings home $15,000/year in tips at the local diner. And the guy can't even go back to school for a career change because most schools won't take people with a drug charge on their record. And .. all of that chaos because the guy just liked to relax on the weekends with a joint.
Ain't NO different than a speeding ticket.... They're BOTH illegal, and they BOTH have penalties that EVERYONE knows about ahead of time. If you still chose to DO the crime, then BE prepared to DO the time. This world AIN'T Burger King, you CAN'T always have it YOUR way. Actually the guy was probably telling the truth. I've seen quite a few of these cops episdoes, and they've said over and over again that exchanging the use of vehicles for drugs was a very common practice. Remember he did say that he dropped the truck off so he could get some dope. But the guy didn't have any dope, so he gave him $40 to get some dope. So that's what it was. Another drugs-for-wheels case.
I am 99% certain that being under the influence of drugs is NOT illegal.. That cop was full of it.. I know it was the mid 2000s but even then possession, trafficking and driving under the influence were illegal. Just walking around, not doing any harm and being high is most definitely legal... The judge is gonna have a filed day and the guy could sue their asses if he had a decent lawyer.

The clip from Season 18 Episode 33 reminded me of when I was a kid and my parents owned an advertising agency and we did work for Budget Rent-A-Car and they would give my dad a new rental car every month. For two months we had a really nice burgundy all leather Dodge Dynasty and it was a beautiful car. We had all kinds of cars, including a Ford conversion van that my mom couldn't drive because she's 5'1" and the one night my dad broke down in our company car (a 1987 Saab 900S turbo) and my mom had to put my dad's gym bag on the seat behind her to drive that huge van...lmao I was like 5 or 6 years old at the time.
