Thank you for video. with this setup, where would you connect a variable speed regulator for the fan? on the supply cable?

Thanks! The thing is, the winding switching (in the motor) is the speed controller. Of course, if one of the windings is damaged. Then, you can buy the regulator separately and connect it.

Ok, thank you. Well, it is because I am thinking about connecting a variable regulator I have, and then (maybe) also keep the swithing mekanism, so I can have even more control over the Rpm. Do you think it will work? I Do not want damage anything.

I need to replace a 2 speed cooker hood fan but only 3 speed is available, can I simply ignore one of the cables. Red is the neutral, black white and brown are the 3 speeds.

You cannot skip one cable, because the connection will be interrupted. You can combine the last two into one circle

my concern is when you manually plug the power cables directly into the mains supply voltage it is not a good example to show

@@xVoLAnD you could use a regular plag with a 10A switch, cable lags and terminal blocks. It takes more time for you but video can be properly cut out. As you said SAFETY FIRST.
