Your video helps tremendously. Greatly appreciated. My elderly non English/Spanish parents will need to catch a connecting flight at MAD. Fly from America to Asia. Without this video i wont be able to prep them for it. I emailed the airport for help. They cannot even provide me screenshots for how to connect wifi…they would offer help on phone only.
Hola tony i just returned from madrid to uk first visit and just wanted to say A BIG THANKS. gracias for the metro info. It took time but i mastered all three metro cercanias. Up to Bullet train 🤣 amazing such an efficient net work. Then mastered the buses ha ha 1third of my trip navigating it all sooo much fun 🤗🤗
We had our luggage assistant help us through the entire process because it was the most complicated and difficult airport we had ever been in. He was a God sent. This is good information
Glad to hear that. In actual fact, we don't consider Barajas to be such a complicated airport, certainly not in comparison to places like Heathrow or JFK. But it does require some previous research before travel. And in that regard, we are here to help!
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Great and detailed video about Madrid airport. We plan a trip from Newark (EWR) to Santander via Madrid airport, arriving 915 AM with connecting flight to Santander at 1140 AM. Is this enough time to make the connection? Thanks
Hello, I found your video on Madrid Barajas so well done and detailed. I watched your video #17 on (MAD) transferring from 4s to 4 and vice a versa. My wife and I will be flying Iberia from Chicago to MAD next month arriving at terminal 4s and transferring to 4 for a trip to Florence on Vueling. Then five days later coming back to Spain and spending three weeks touring southern Spain. We have been to Spain in 2018 and are so looking forward to coming back. I also enjoyed your information on the high speed trains and how to use the system Thank you again for the great videos
Great information! I would never know how to move in such a big airport. Another excellent video productio:. indispensable maps and animations very well done. Everything you produce and communicate is of rare and extreme competence, care and reliability. 👏
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Glad to hear that. I'll be there soon with an onward flight to Bogota. I'm sure it'll fine. Again, very helpful video. Gracias!
Oh, how I wished I had seen this video when I was flying into Madrid from London, for an onward flight to Palma de Mallorca! If I am ever flying through Madrid again, I will definitely watch the video!
¡Hola Tio Tony! I finally revisited Madrid again last week! Unfortunately, my flight from London arrived very late at night and my hostel (near the Callao Station) didn't answer the bell when I arrived past midnight. So I decided to just walk along Gran Via (I only had a backpack anyway) and found an open bocadillería for some jamon and zumo :) After that I decided to just go back to the airport (short walk Gran Via to Cibeles, of course) via the 24hr yellow bus since I had a morning flight to Dublin the next day, and sleep at the airport. I noticed...that T2 was a lot more peaceful at night than T4 (my flight was with Aer Lingus, so T4 was my first option) for sleeping. T4 was still crowded and noisy past midnight! The whole time I was in Madrid I was thinking of your channel and "what did Tony and Cecilia advise about this?" LOL! Maybe do a "Sleeping tips at the airport in Spain and Portugal" series as well? Hasta la proxima. - Red
Hello there! We took a flight from T2 at 6am recently and it was hectic, it might depend on the day (quite possible really quiet in the early hours of the morning). Barajas is a terrible airport to spend the night, we always try to avoid it. Thanks so much for sharing your experience, glad to hear you survived the experience with great success!
Once again, amazing video! I will now look at video 17 as I have connecting flight. I need to go from t4s to t4. Iberia airlines from Miami to Madrid July 7 and then Madrid to Barcelona. Separate ticket purchase.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal thank you. I called Iberia. They mentioned I need to pick up my luggage when I land and the then check it in at Barcelona check in counter. Does this sound right/correct to you? Thank you
Thank you for this information. My wife and I are flying from USA to Barcelona with a connection in Madrid in June 2023. We have a connecting time of 1 hr and 50 mins. I'm thinking we may need more time after watching your video.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Gracias. But, I changed our flight to one that flies directly from New York to Barcelona to avoid the need to change planes in Madrid. I'm glad I watched your video to avoid any potential problems.
After flying into/out of MAD in March, I am undecided what flight option to choose for an upcoming trip in February 2023. I plan to visit Madrid for a few days before going to Seville. Should I fly home to Chicago from Seville on Iberia with a one hour 5 minute layover in MAD? Or should I take the train from Seville the day before and just fly out of MAD? Are all of Iberia's domestic and international gates at T4? or will the Iberia flight to Chicago leave from T4S? 65 minutes might be legal but is it doable? Thank you for all of the terrific information!
Good morning, Connie. As you will have seen on the video, any connection under two hours at Madrid airport for us is a no-no. Iberia's domestic gates are at T4, the international gates at T4S. Either you take an earlier flight to Madrid or sleep in Madrid the night before (here we share some airport hotel recommendations: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-e9Q0IIogvn0.html ). All the best!
Hi Toni, I’m flying from Porto Portugal to Dallas TX with a connecting flt. in Madrid. Will I have to go through Immigration control? I’m worried because the Porto flight arrives at 2:45 and Dallas flt leaves at 4 pm. Coming in I barely made it and the departure gate was K93 is that part of another terminal?
Hi Linda, there are no immigration controls in flights between Portugal and Spain. To be able to help with your connection we need all the details we request in the video.
Very helpful info. Do have a question about checked luggage. I will be coming from Chicago on Iberia to Madrid for Iberia connecting flight to Seville. Do I have to pick up my CHECKED baggage or do they go straight to the Seville flight.
Hi. In the next Year me and my family will fly to NYC with Air Europa (T1 and T2). We go from OPO to MAD and then to JFK. In the Company site, it`s not possible to check in online to USA. My question is when we arrive in MAD (possible T2 and then go to T1), we have to make the check in the counters machines. We have to go outside and enter again, or there is counters machines from Air Europa trough the terminal T1 ? Thank you a lot. You make a great job with your videos
Hi Nuno, the process of checking in for a US flight is slightly more complicated than a flight to other destinations, as there are extra passport checks. Quite likely, when you arrive in Madrid, you will have to go to the open side of T1 and walk to the departures level of T1 and search for Air Europa check-in counters. All the best.
Hi Tony, very helpful. I have a question - I am flying out of Miami into Madrid for a connecting flight to Rome (booked on one ticket through Air Europa) - do i need to go through customs in Madrid airport? I'll land in T1 and need to go to T2 for the connection. I will not have checked bags. Do i go through customs in rome or madrid?
Hi, I am planning to book flights from Montevideo, Uruguay to Madrid via Iberia Airlines and have a further connect to Doha, Qatar and from Doha finally reaching India. My question is being an Indian passport holder do I require a Schengen visa to access between the terminal T4 to T4S if I have a valid US B1/B2 visa? I intend to stay in the Madrid International transit zone only without collecting any bagages as it should reach directly India
Wonderful Video - thank you! On April 29, 2023 we will arrive from Dallas DFW to MAD on AA #36 and must connect to Iberia #8792 to Casablanca (CMN). Based on your video, I think we arrive at T4S and depart same terminal. Is that correct? No checked luggage. On May 5, 2023 we will arrive from CMN to MAD on Royal Air Marco #972 and will stay in MAD for a couple of days. I think we will arrive in T4S, is that correct? No checked Luggage. On May 7, 2023 we depart MAD for DFW on AA #37. I think this also departs from T4S, is this correct? No checked luggage. I am handicapped and I use crutches. When I try to fill out the form for wheelchair service with Aena Barriers Free in MAD, I am required to list a meeting point. What do I list as a meeting point for wheelchair service in MAD: For April 29 when connecting MAD to CMN ? And for May 5 for when we will arrive MAD from CMN? And, lastly, when we depart MAD for DFW on May 7? Thank you so very much for your kindness of a reply and the great video.
Hello there, all your flights will either arrive or depart from T4S. As for the meeting point, we would put something like "boarding gate", since it's there where it makes sense for someone to wait for you. In any case, you can place that request when you check-in for each flight and the airline will communicate your needs to the destination airport. All the best.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Since we will remain in T4S (arrive MAD from DFW on American to only connect with Iberia to Casablanca), I do not think we will need to go through passport control because we will only have carry on. Correct? American flight arrives 9:05 and Iberia flight departs 11:25. Based on the video, although we have 2 separate tickets but have no checked luggage, our connection time should be OK, correct? Thanks for your assistance and such personalized advice!
@@franciemr you will most likely remain within the international transfer area in T4S. But online the airlines involved can give you a definite answer on the issue, we have never done an international connection like yours at Madrid airport. Your connection time should be ok.
Hola Tony. Thank you for your helpful information. I do have some questions hoping you can help. We are arriving in MAD via T2 (Air France) and will have 3 hours stop over before catching our next destination to Tangier , I think in T1 (Ryan Air). How T1 & T2 is connected? Is it far? Can we walk? Is the 3 hours time enough for us? Also, we need to store some luggage. Any recommendation of the company to store our luggage? Where do you suggest to store our luggage in T1 or T2? Thank you in advance.
Hi Henry, if you watch the video you will find most of your questions answered. There is a luggage store facility at Madrid airport, see the details here: www.consigna.es/ The locker is at T1.
Hi Tony if im landing from Miami with Iberia and getting the connection to Manchester (i believe both are landing at 4S) is a connection time of 55 mins enough with luggage. Flights are Iberia and BA bur the same group
We personally would never buy a connection of 55 minutes at Madrid airport. Your only advantage is that you won't be going through immigration at MAD. But still.
Thank you for the video! This is immensely helpful. I just want to make sure of something if you don't mind. I have a connecting flight with the same airline as my first flight (Iberia) that takes me from T4S to T4. My checked luggage will be sent to my final destination and I do not have to check my bag in again, is that correct?
Hello there. When you are flying with the same airline the usual thing is for your checked in luggage to be sent to the final destination, but you would have to double-check when you check-in for your flight. In that case, in Madrid you wouldn't have to collect your luggage.
Hi, thank you so much for the effort you put into making these videos. I'm from Morocco and will be travelling on the 28th of April, from Casablanca (CMN) to Cochabamba (CBB) and have a layover in Madrid (MAD). Here's the itinerary for the flight if you could please tell me if I need a transit Visa or not. IBERIA || Casablanca (CMN) • [T1] --> Madrid (MAD) • [T4S] ➡(1:30h layover) : : Baggage not checked through⬅ BOA || Madrid (MAD) • [T4S] --> Santa Cruz (VVI) ➡(1:30h layover) : : Baggage not checked through⬅ BOA || Santa Cruz (VVI) --> Cochabamba (CBB) According to the itinerary, I'll be landing and departing from the same terminal in Madrid, which means that I'll be able to re-claim my baggage at the same terminal (T4S), which eliminates the need for a transit Visa, right?
Hello Said, baggage reclaim for T4S flights is done at T4, so if you intend to collect your luggage you will have to go through immigration - and probably need a transit visa. If you were flying with the same company, without the need to re-check your baggage, you would be able to stay at T4S.
Thank you, will be flying from madrid to seville because I don't have enough time to get to the train station but I will take the train on the way back. Just quick q if you are landing at T2 there is no immigration?
Help with this question. We're planning a trip to Europe in December, our last day will be December 31, we're planning to take an AerLingus flight from Dublin arriving to Madrid at 11:05, our connection to Costa Rica is with the IberoJet flight departing at 14:45. These are two separated tickets. For what i have research and the info in your video, we will arrive at T4 and depart from T1, and have to collect and check in out luggage. Do you think we can make it? 😅
Hola Tony!
Hello sir., Thanks for the video a perfect one good, i have a question please, i am morrocan goint colombia flying with 2 differents companies royal air maroc i arrive t4s and departure t4s to medellin with avianca, i need to know if i can have my second boarding pass just in the checking desks of boarding pass inside without doing the desk immigration because i dont have a big suitcase just with hand luggges, if i can get my boarding pass just inside without doing the stump of police thans a lot for the answer
Hi Soufian, you could get your second boarding card checking online, removing the need to get it from a counter. As for the need for a transit visa, the best would be to contact the Spanish consulate nearest your city to get an answer about it.
Thanks a lot for the answer sir, so helpful, i will ask about visa transit the consulate to be sure, so no need for the normal form of boarding pass, i can use my online boarding pass to enter from.arrival to duty frees and also my online boarding pass i can use it in the boarding gate of second flight
Hey! Thank you so much for this video. I was in Madrid airport 3 times already but I never needed to change terminals. I plan to return from Paragauy in December (to Vienna), the departure from Asuncion is 14:20 and arrival is 5:15 of the Madrid time. The Air Europa lands on T1 and fortunately flights from Paraguay usually arrive earlier. Planned arrival is 5:15 and then I likely think about going with Iberia from T4 to Vienna that is going to departure at 8:40. I will have checked baggage with me so I guess I will have less than 3 hours (passport control and claiming my baggage) to get from T1 with my baggage to the T4. I remember the departures areas of T1 very well as I usually was flying through this terminal, the bus stop is outside of the departures in T1? Not sure if I can catch the flight or how far is the bus stop from the T1 departures. As I never used this bus and didn't see the bus stop anywhere before (but I wasn't going much outside of T1).
Hello , im flying out of Paris using Iberia airlines and landing in Madrid , I then have another flight 2 hours later using American Airlines leaving Madrid to the USA, any tips on what terminals could be used or what I should expect?
Thank you for this video. I have a flight connecting through Madrid from Istanbul to Santo Domingo, and both the arriving and departing flight operate through Terminal 1. Will I still need to go through immigration even if I will only remain in Terminal 1? Thank you.
In a T1 to T1 connection, and for as long as you don't have any luggage to check-in, you will stay within the T1 transit area, no need to go through immigration.
Thank you very much for the good information. From Seoul via Madrid to Mallorca. Arrive at Terminal 1 and move to Terminal 4S. The airline explains that the baggage is connected from the point of departure (Seoul) to Mallorca. Looking at the video you provided, I understood that 4s had to pick up their luggage at Terminal 1. Is this correct? Thank you.
You haven't informed the airlines involved, which means we'll have to take your word for it. It is not common practice for baggage to be transferred automatically on a T1 to T4S connection, double check with your airline. In the majority of cases, you would go through immigration and collect your luggage at T1.
Thank you for your video. I have a flight connecting through Madrid to London, both arriving and departing on T4S with a layover of 1hr and 45 mins. This time is fine? I’m planning to go with carry on. Do I have to go through immigration? I’m flying from Puerto Rico. Thanks in advance.
Hello , If I have a connecting flight , both are in TS4 ( from NYC to Madrid / Madrid to Morocco ) and the layover is only for 1 hour , will it be easy or it's gonna take too much time ( PS : both are operated by Iberia ) , Thank you in advance
We would never accept such a short connection at Madrid airport. You might make it, you may not, we just don't know. The last three times we arrived at Madrid airport in 2024 the flights were seriously delayed.
Thanks a million for your help and assistance, Please I have question my girlfriend will fly by Iberia From Quito To Egypt but she has stop in Madrid T4S then she will need to go to T1 to take flight to Cairo , she has only one backpack,Does she have to stop for immigration and is it required to have a transfer visa to be in transit area in Madrid as I mentioned? Or it’s visa free , thanks in advance
You welcome! There is an on-request bus connecting T4S to T1 on the airside, staying within the international transit area the whole time. But I would double check with the Spanish consulate nearest your city, we wouldn't want to pass on the wrong information.
Thanks for the great video packed with lots of useful information. I am planning to book a flight with Iberia from Porto to Rome with connection at Madrid. The flight from Porto arrive at T4 and the flight to Rome also departures from T4. However the connection time is short, around 45 minutes. Do you think that 45 minutes is sufficient for catching the flight to Rome without problems? Thank you.
We would never accept a short connection time at Madrid airport, even less at the moment, when the airport is operating way above its capacity. We would leave 90 minutes for a connection like yours. But that's us, we hate stress when we travel. All the best!
Hi, if I'm from Lisbon on TAP (Terminal 2) connecting to Istanbul on TK (Terminal 1), will our luggage be checked through? And is a 1-hour layover adequate? Thank you for your assistance!
Hi, not unless there is a special agreement between the airlines. You will need to check with them. On the video you will see what we estimate to be a safe amount of time for the connection.
Question: Iam flying from Lisbon to Madrid with final destination Miami USA, Iam flying American Air Line. Will this connection be in the same terminal? Thank you!
Thanks for this video! I need to ask a little help about my layover in Madrid airport We are two Italian guys flying with wizzair from Milan to Madrid and arriving in T1 at 8.50 The following flight from depart from T4s at 10.50, with Avianca For both flights we have cabin luggages, sure for the first flight, for the second we can make the check-in In your video you show the transfer is minumun 2h30, are you meaning I will lose the second flight?😢 I'd like to know how fast we have to run😅 Another thing: I can't understand if in T4 we have to pass again the security control (in case we don't need to pass at the check-in desk), or we are still inside the airport from T1 Thank you in advance for your help!!
There is no transfer minimum, the time we show on the video is what we consider to be conservative estimates for an stress-free connection. Could it be done faster? It could indeed, if everything runs smoothly. But only you can tell if you can afford to miss your connection. When you arrive to T4 you will have to go through the same slow security control as other passengers entering the terminal. Sometimes it's a five minute affair, sometimes it can take 20 minutes or more.
Hola! This was a VERY helpful video! I am wondering if you can tell me where we go through passport control? We are flying from the US on United airlines (FL UA163), landing at T1 (I think) at 8:05am (if on time). We are not checking any bags from the US. Do we go through passport control in T1? Is that on the lower level? We then have a flight to Seville on Iberia departing from T4 (I think) (FL IB0562) at 11:25am. We WILL have to check our carry on luggage for this flight so will have to go through security in T4 terminal. Is that right? Is all that correct and do you believe we have enough time? That is assuming our flight from the US lands in Madrid on time. Thank you so much! Diane
Hi Diane, thanks for your words. You will go through immigration still at T1, on the very same level you will disembark. You will go through security at T4, that's correct. We have an entire section on the video discussing the time needed for a connection, check it out! All the best!
Hi Tony, Flight from Lisbon with Iberia with a connection flight in Madrid to Israel. The flight from Lisbon arrives at Terminal 4T and from there I have to arrive and transfer to Terminal 4TS. I wanted to know, please, where I should do the border control (in Lisbon or in Madrid at Terminal 4TS? Thank you very much for the help and the videos you produce.
Hi Geulim, there is no border control between Portugal and Spain. Your passport will be checked once you arrive to T4S before departure. There might be additional checks near the boarding gate by the airline (common practice in flights to Israel or the US).
Hi. Thank you for video. Leaving for Tenerife today. Nervous. The gap between arriving to Madrid and departure to Tenerife south only1hr 30 min. Would be good to know how to get the gate to Tenerife ASAP not to be late
Hello Tatyana, I don't think you watched the video, otherwise you would have told us the airline(s) you are flying with. Without that piece of information, we are unable to help.
Hi Tony, thank you for your amazing videos. Very helpful in planning our trip so far. We are taking a train renfe from Valencia (1.45pm )to Madrid (arriving 3.35pm) and then wish to catch a flight from T4 to Geneva (business class). You think we have enough time to make the flight (6.05pm ) ? We are Canadian . Or should change to 8.00 pm flight ?

Hi, I am traveling from Krakow to Madrid in June. In Madrid I will have to catch a connecting flight to Asturias. Could you please help? I am not sure in which part of the airport the flight from krakow will land (Ryanair). From Madrid to Asturias it should be terminal 4. (Iberia) Thank you for your help :)
thanks for this great video! I have a flight coming into terminal 2 (from lisbon) and departing to the US from terminal 1. I have 1.45 min for the connection. How long is the walk from terminal 2 to terminal 1? (i'm fit and wont have luggage to carry). also, does it seem like enough time, considering you mentioned the move between terminal 2 to terminal 1 is shorter than the other way around? thank you
Hello, terminal 2 is long and narrow, depending on the specific arrival gate it can take anything between 1 and 20 minutes to reach T1. The good thing is that you won't have to go through immigration on arrival. On the not so good side of things, flights to America involve an extra layer of passport control. If everything goes smooth, you should have time. If your flight is delayed, your connection might be compromised.
I just booked a business class iberia flight from IAD to Naples with a 1hr and 5 min connection in Madrid. I'm nervous that this is really tight to make my connection. It says i arrive in Madrid to terminal 4S and depart for naples in terminal 4. I'm hoping my bags will be checked all the way to Naples and that I don't have to get them and go thru customs and recheck them in Madrid. Will I make my connecting flight??? I'm nervous now!
I am not sure if I have to collect my baggage in Madrid. I made my entire trip thru American Airlines from DFW to Porto . At MAD I transfer to IBERIA AIRLINE. IF I have to collect baggage, how do I get a luggage assistant (as mentioned in a previous comment). Thank you
Hello Tony, Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge of Madrid's airport. My returning flight to the US will originate in Málaga on Air Europa. I will disembark at T2 and walk to T1 with hand luggage for the trip back to the US (no checked luggage). Will I have to go through immigration control in T1 to exit Spain in order to board the Air Europa flight back to the US or can I go directly to the departure gate in T1? I ask because I am concerned that 1 1/2 hours between arriving in Madrid and my departure for the US may be insufficient. Thank you for any information you can share with me. Dennis
Hi Dennis, there is no immigration control as such, but there is a passport check when you enter the international area of T1. Flights to the US involve an extra layer of passport and documentation checks, so extra time for the connection is strongly advised. All the best.
Great info! I am an US passport holder, leaving Porto to London Heathrow with connecting flight in MAD for 3 hours, the terminational would be from T4 to T4S (single ticket through Iberia so most likely no need to claim luggage). Will 3 hours 15 minutes be enough to make the connection?
Hi, Tony! My ticket is from Chicago to Barcelona with a change in Madrid. I’m arriving at 4S and need to catch my connection at 4. Once I arrive at 4 on the train, can I go directly to my gate (carry-on bag only, flight from US. I’m a US citizen) without having to go through security again?
Thank you sooo much for this. I have a flight from Bordeaux > Madrid (T4), and then Madrid (T1) > Jeddah. Would I need to go from T4 to T4S to clear immigration, then back to T4, and then on to T1?
Thank you for such a helpful video. I am traveling from USA to ALGERIA with Iberia and I have a layover of 28 hours so we decided to spend the night at Air Rooms Madrid that’s I think is located in the T4. We are USA citizens except my wife has Green Card so my question is does she need a visa to get to the hotel ? Any helpful information would appreciated. Thanks again man. Cheers !
Hello there! I don't think your wife having a Green Card will make any difference whatsoever on the immigration requirements. We are not familiar with the current Spanish requirements for visitors coming from the US, but we understand you are exempt from getting a VISA for tourism purposes. I think the best would be to contact (or check the website) of a Spanish consulate near the city where you leave to be absolutely sure. All the best!
Hello, firstly, thank you for posting this video, excellent information presented! Secondly, seeking your opinion on whether we have enough time between connections. We are traveling in early October, coming from USA into Madrid on Delta/T1. Connection is Air Europa/T2, with 1 hour 50 minute layover. Return trip is from Malaga on Air Europa/T2. Connection is Delta/T1, with 1 hour 30 minute layover. Planning only carry-on baggage. The video mentioned 2 hours for T1->T2, is 1:50 going to be close enough? Have things gotten worse or better in the last year?
Hi there, things have gotten much worse in the last year, there's been an explosion in the number of tourists and the airport is operating beyond its capacity. On specific dates, queues at immigration control have been massive. Early October should be better, but you never know. We personally would play it safe, going beyond our advice on the video.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Thanks for the reply. We'll have to see if we can change the flights to/from Malaga. Will we also go through immigration coming from Malaga to Madrid, or anytime before boarding for the US?
@@mystuff4475 there is no immigration in domestic files. However, in flights departing for the US, there is an additional passport and document control before reaching the boarding gate.
Hi I am arriving to T4s then i have another flight not connecting flight from T2 after 3 hours from first flight I have 2 questions 3 hours is it good time to reach T2 And is there any passports immigration or passport checks in T2 i am traveling to amsterdam Thanks alot
Hello again. You will have seen your first question answered in the video. There is no permanente immigration control at T2 but the airline or plain clothes police officers might want to check your documents.
Thank you so much for the video. Flying from LHR -MAD-HKG on one ticket with Cathay Pacific. Only have 1h 35m to transit from Madrid T4 to TS4. I understand we have to go through passport control? I have a British passport and was wondering if the queues are really long for non-EU citizens?
Hi Louise, yes, you will go through passaport control at T4S. For non-EU citizens, and depending on the amount of flights arriving simultaneously, the queues can be really slow. Anything between 10 minutes to 1 hour. That's why we recommend long intervals between flights.
Hi, we are connecting at terminal T4S with Iberia for both of our flights. Can you advise how this will be please? It's the same building so I'm assuming won't take very long, just immigration? Thanks
If it's two T4S flights you will remain within the transfer area, you won't go through immigration. Look for the transfer area and then look for your boarding gate.
Very helpful video! I am traveling from Porto to Madrid and then catching a connecting flight to Florence. I will have to go from T1 to T4. The time between arrival and departure is 3 hours, the flights are from different airlines, and I will have to pick up and check in luggage. Do you think this is enough time, considering that I am European and do not have to go through customs/immigration upon arrival? Thanks and great content!
Thanks José, you will find the answer to your question in the video. Let us know if anything is unclear to you and we'll be delighted to help. All the best! P.S.: there is no immigration control for passengers arriving from Porto to Madrid, regardless of their nationality.
The connection time means from the time you arrive till the time of the flight ? or the time that you arrive till the time you have to make your check in ? Maybe this is a silly question but I am confused :)
Tony. Muy bueno e informativo! Pregunta.
A little confusing, we are traveling to Seville Spain from Madrid international airport, do we take the bus from terminal 1 to terminal 4 to check in at Iberia ticket counter or we take the train? Thank you so much..
Wonderful video thank you very much. We are flying out from Costa Rica on Iberia To Madrid airport and then from Madrid to London Heathrow also Iberia. Are we most likely to be in gate 4S? And how long does it generally take to go through Immigration? I have heard alot of horror stories about missing connecting flights due to the complexity of getting to gates 4/4S.We are scheduled to have a 1hour and 50 minute layover ....not sure if that is enough time depending on possible delays etc.
Hi, in the case of a T4S to T4S connection like yours, and for as long as you don't need to collect your luggage in Madrid, you won't go through immigration, you will remain within the international transit area. You should have enough time. But double check the procedure with your airline.
Hello, thanks for your informative video. We are flying from Vienna to Seville (via Madrid) in December. We will land in T1 and will fly with Iberia to Seville. We have a 90-minute layover in Madrid. Is it possible to catch this connecting flight?
Hello I have a trip to Madrid from USA on American Airlines arrival at 7am in T 4 , then we take another flight ( non connection flight ) to Santiago de Compostelo at 11 am ( its says T4) but that is just a short within Spain flight . We have to get our cheched bag from American, go thru customs, then get to our next flight can it be done?? how can we organize ourselves? Thank you
Hello Tony, thank you so much for this amazing video. I need your help please if you don't mind. My cousin and I are coming in on different flights to Madrid, Barajas -- she's arriving at terminal T1 (at 14:15) and I'm arriving at T4S (at 14:50). How can I go meet her at T1? (She's 17 and scared to get lost if she comes looking for me), Can you suggest a good meeting spot? or a place where she can wait for me until I come get her? Also I read online that T1 doesn't have free wifi in arrival for us to get in touch. I thank you in advance. -Hope
Hello Hope, there is a food joint, DEHESA DE SANTA MARÍA, you will see as soon as you reach the public area of T1 at the arrivals level. That could be the ideal place to wait. Whether eating/drinking something at the bar, or standing right outside it. As far as we are aware, free wifi is available throughout the airport. All the best.
I will have connected flights in T4s (will land to 4s and connected flight is in t4s as well, no terminal change.). Is there still any immigration control?
For a T4S-T4S connection, passengers that do not need to retrieve their luggage remain within the international transit zone, not going through immigration. But double check with your airline.
Hello I am coming from Santiago to madrid and have to connect to international going to the us and have only one hour with Iberia in the same reservation , is it enough time ?. Thank you !.
Hi, your video is really helpful. I have a question. May you please help me? I will be taking Iberia airlines from Feurteventura to Lisbon. There is a 45 minutes of transit (on the same airline) at Madrid (MAD) S4 and then at the S4 I will fly from Madrid to Lisbon. So my question is, it says S4, does it mean T4S? Would 45 minutes transit be suffice for me to change the flight at S4?
Hi, yes, there are no S terminals at Madrid airport. S is a letter reserved for gates. You should arrive at T4 and depart from T4 too. We don't like risks and wouldn't accept a T4 to T4 connection of less than 90 minutes.
i'm flying in to Madrid from Barcelona; and I'm flying out of Madrid on United for the US on the same day. Can you please tell me what terminals I will be using for each flight? I want to know how long it will take to move from one gate to the other. Gracias.
Hello sir! i would like to ask some question, i book flight direct from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Vigo Spain transit in Abu Dhabi and Madrid using Etihad, in madrid airport cases: 1. Etihad is arrive at terminal 4 and my flight from madrid to vigo is operated by air europa, am i fly with etihad or air europa? 2. if im using air europa, air europa domestic flight is at terminal 2, so i have to change terminal, is 6 hours enough time to transfer from terminal 4 to terminal 2? i dont need to checked in my baggage anymore, i just have to change plane 3. so to change from terminal 4 to terminal 2, i go to T4 arrival shuttle bus then i get out at T2 arrival shuttle bus? 4. am i have to go to the immigration again? Thank You sir☺️🙏
Hello Pat, 1. Your Etihad flight will arrive at T4S. You will fly to Vigo with Air Europa. 2. On the video you will find the time we recommend for a T4S to T2 connection. 3. First you will have to get from T4S to T4. Then, as explained by you. 4. Immigration on arrival at T4S.
Hi Tony, can you please explain how to make a smooth connection at Barjas airport if you traveling from New York (on Iberia Airlines) to Casablanca, Morocco? We have an hour window to get to our next flight. Thank you!
Hi there, if you are flying both legs with Iberia, you will be arriving at T4S and departing from T4S. But there is absolute no way to guarantee a smooth connection if you only have one hour for it, in particular in a crowded airport as it is Madrid Barajas. We would play it safe with a longer connection.
Hello Tony! First I want to thank you for making this Video! I have a better understanding how the airline is display but I'm still nervous for my upcoming flight this Saturday. Could you help me? I'm departing from LAX (USA) - Portugal Lisbon with American Airlines (Connecting Flight) .I'm aware that American Airlines has it as under, Airbus A330- 300 and the connecting is Airbus A 320- 100/200. I know it says T1 when I land to Spain but I wanted to get your input on this. Thanks again!
Hello, Daisy! We need to know the company flying your leg from Lisbon to Madrid, as American Airlines does not fly that route (it does so on a code share with another company). All the best.
Ola! Will have a connection of 55 minutes 😱. Probably from t4 to t3 (arriving from FCO and boarding to GRU) with hand luggage only. If we miss the flight, the company will relocate to another flight, probably the next day, in this case, may we leave the airport and tour Madri ? thanks so much
Hi William, please, have a look at the video where we mention the details of your trip we need to know to be able to help you (you are unlikely to be using T3, but with the information you have provided, it's impossible to tell).
Hello, first tnx for youre sharing and for your advice. So I need help for me and my family. On 7.8.2024.we take a flight from Budapest to Madrid with Ryanair, flight Fr6712 and should arrive at 19:50h. We have checked baggage of course. We have to catch a sepperate flight also with Ryanair from Madrid to Tanger Morroco at 21:40h, Fr3876. We arrive at T1 i think. We dont have much time. Need your advice and the exact walking plan.
Hi, the exact walking plan depends on the arrival gates, which you will only know on the day of travel. You will arrive at T1 or T2. Considering you have bought two separate tickets, it is a risky connection, if you miss the connecting flight, Ryanair will wash their hands.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal i found something interesting:Fast Track Quick access to the security checkpoint in Terminals T1, T2 and T4. Passengers travelling with children will have preferential, free access to the family security checkpoints.
Hi sir! My arrival and departure terminal is same which is T4S. Then is is a must to i go through the immigration and baggage claim and check-in? Or i can go to the boarding gate directly?
Hello, thank you so much for great video. It's very helpful and informative. I will fly Delta from US to Madrid arriving at T1 with carryon luggage only. I have separate ticket to Seville with Vueling at T4. I understand that i have to go thru immigration at Madrid and take bus to T4 to catch my next flight to Seville. My question is do i have go thru security again when I get to T4? I have about 3 hours between 2 flights. Thanks in advance for your help.
Hi sir , Actually we have a trip to Miami (U.S.)from Abu Dhabi on Etihad airline and stopover in Madrid , we will arrive in T4 and we will departure from T1 on Europa airlines and we don’t have transit visa in Spain , Can we get to Terminal 4 without going through an immigration control? It does mean is there transit way from T4 to T1 ? The Nationality is Egyptian
If you don't have to collect your luggage (if you do, you will go through immigration), you can request the shuttle bus from T4S (you won't arrive at T4) to T1 through the airside, staying within the international transit area. You request the bus when you disembark from the airplane.
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugalthanks a lot Tony for your support and reply, but actually T4 is the arrival terminal As mentioned in the ticket and we will departure from T1 ,Can we request shuttle bus from T4 to T1 in order to avoid passing the immigration control? Appreciate your support Thanks a million
@@ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal Thanks Tony , please correct me if I’m wrong, the flight will arrive in T4S and I can request shuttle bus from T4S to T1 through transit area and i won't pass through immigration control Appreciate your support and help
I have a ticket Palermo / Cancun ... I have a stop in Madrid at terminal 2 and I need to reach terminal 1 to get the next flight Madrid/ Cancun.... My question is : can I walk from terminal 2 to terminal 1? Mucha gracias
Hello, we are flying from Marrakech to Porto (Portugal) via Madrid, on Iberia in November. We only have 1 hour for the connection in Madrid (and that is assuming no delay on the flight from Marrakech). I am concerned that we won't have enough time to go through passport control and may miss our flight to Porto. We will Not check our luggage, only carryon, but still I hear sometimes passport control can take over an hour. How risky do you think this itinerary is (we already bought the non-refundable tickets unfortunately), if it is too risky I will try to change the flights or buy another nonstop flight on a different airline. Thank you for your expertise!
Hello, my situation is the following: have a connection in madrid my flight comes from São Paulo (Grarulhos airport) to Madrid( Barajas ) the company is LATAM my connection is to Lisbon, Portugal. Madrid to Lisbon operated by IBERIAN 1) what are the probable terminals of arrival and departure? 2) How much time i Need? Thank you very much! Muchas gracias!
Hi, if I land at T4s, pass through the passport control and go to T4 by train - is there aby chances to connect with T1 without leaving a Airport area (i saw one day "connection flights" gate at T4 aftrr using elevator.). Or I have to go outside and take bus and pass security control once again at T1?
