You don't have to pay to walk along the lode. You have to pay to get into the hide areas, which are behind the visitor centre. This entire area, by boat or by walk, is free.
@@UKCANOEING Canoeing is free, I've done this many times. But accessing the area you accessed is not free, it's also not allowed. There is a sign that says no navigation past this point. This is, in part, because there are water voles along that stretch. Also, I think you just said the same thing as me, the area behind the visitors centre is fee accessed, the entire fen is not. There's the lode, the three outer hides and the 2.5 miles walk around wicken fen. All free. I've been there more than 30 times and I've even moored my boat on the lode for more than 20 nights in total. I was also canoeing down the lode a couple of weeks ago.
As a fan of the channel and someone who is subscribed I only want the best for you guys on the channel so please don’t take this the wrong way . And I mean this in the best way. Claire I think you’re trying too hard. And not letting it come naturally. Your information is great but very monotone. Maybe less of a poet and more cheerful .
