I tested a bunch of inks when I first tried stone paper. A LOT of the inks spread and faded really bad, within a matter of days. It wasn't limited to any particular brand, and was interesting that some spread and some didn't, within the same brands. Now I use stone paper like micro mesh - to smooth my nibs.

There are barely any fountain pen inks that do well on this paper, but Noodler’s Blue Nose Bear looks AMAZING. It does its light blue halo thing very efficiently.

The blue and orange is very cheerful to me. Thanks for capping the bottle of ink early on so I could stop worrying. 😂😅 Thanks for sharing! Peace and love..Suz What ☮️💛

I think blue and orange go together quite well, from many perspectives. I'm glad that you could take solace from the early capping :-) Thank you for your feedback.

Thank you for another video. I fell a little behind and have some catching up to do. I've used stone paper before but I hope they have improved it. I used Noodlers Apache Sunset on it (that's what it was called then). After a few months of sitting on the page, the ink started to spread. It may have been just my particular notebook but it surprised me when I saw how much it spread. One benefit of the paper is that it smoothed my nib. 😅

I've added a note to my diary, to check for ink spread, in a few weeks time. As this video will soon be available to the wider viewing public, I'll mention this in a future podcast.

@@Flatability I should revisit that notebook and scan the page with that spreading. I have not looked at it since but the page with the spreading was already mostly unreadable. Not all inks did that. If I remember correctly, Waterman Florida Blue did not spread/feather.

I'll be interested to see if the ink spreads in this notebook.

Oh man, wanna see something interesting? If you have Diamine China Blue (the only ink I’ve found that does this), try doing a writing sample and swab with the stone paper and give it 24 hours. For whatever reason, China Blue fades to this odd, yellowish color. I have a few samples over ten years old and it only gets more faded with time. I mean, look… it doesn’t take a lot to entertain and interest me. But for some reason THAT does it for me, lol.

*Stone paper* is a gimmick, its mostly made from plastic. And it feels like writing on a plastic bag too. For fountain pens I wouldnt recommend it as it takes ages to dry as there are no paper fibers, and also stone part is abrasive and I would imagine it could harm the precious fountain pens. Its kinda ok if you use a ballpoint or a pencil , also the paper can be wrinkled and soaked in water and it will survive, as all plastic bags would. But its still like writing on a plastic bag with some chalk in it....

That is such a great description that I may mention this in a future podcast. Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate it.

And even of it was truly just made of stone, stones take millions of years to be made and actually have uses, using paper made from qood is actually better for the planet because that's literally carbon capture, deforestation happens because of farming not paper

I agree with all your points. There is actually one thing it’s amazing for: practicing calligraphy letter forms with a Bic Crystal (or any cheap ballpoint, really).

Stone paper is horrible on so many levels.

I’ve got some old ink swabs on stone paper that STILL SMEAR OVER A DECADE LATER.
