My KEF ls50 are great for short periods or just to impress my friends for a hour or so but when I'm by myself and I want to listen to music for long periods thats when i bring my beautiful warm sounding Q acoustics 3020is out! Btw absolutely love the language thanks for keeping it real 👍
Nice review. I did buy these speakers a year ago (299€) + those same stands (79€). I was surprised at how good they sound on my desktop with smaller stands. Originally these were my mains but now I kind of love how smooth they sound nearfield.
We've got the 3020i's in our bedroom setup driven by a Quad Vera amp with a little Jamo sub and they sound great. I listen to them more than my main system nowadays.
Q Acoustics makes some great speakers! I have the Concept 500’s and I would need to go way up in price to get something better $20k+?), but honestly, why would I? I love them. Coupled with my Luxman 505 and RME ADI-2, it’s killer.
3050i is rather good also. The concept line is a set above. but the price reflects that. 3000 series is a bargain for what you get . I got mine for under £300 due to very light damage on base . When it arrived, it was nothing and will never be seen.
Great speakers, however, allow plenty of time to break them in. They sound warm with punchy bass, but I recommend adding a good subwoofer or two. I paired them with a Marantz NR1711, Two SVS PB1000 pro subwoofers, a pair of 3010i's as my rear surround, a 3090Ci center speaker and a pair of Klipsch RP-500S Dolby Atmos/height speakers.

I'm using a tower version of these and i'm very happy with both the sound and the looks. Added a sub recently and it was pretty hard to tell if it's even turned on at first. Can't really compare to anything since it's my first time spending that much on audio.
I'm actually debating between the two. Can you tell me more about them? What attracts me more about the 3050i is the enveloping sound and all aroundness, relaxed but controlled sound. How do the Concepts 40 compare, do you know?
I've had a pair of these for 9 months. I also have a pair of 3020i, and Concept 40's. The 3030i's are something else. The tone and bass - without sacrificing midrange and treble, is out of this world. I've often wondered why I don't hear more praise for them, but I guess they're quite new to the US market. I've not heard the floorstanders in this range, the 3050i, but I suspect they're great. I did get a pair of Concept 40's though, and I'm very much enjoying them. I'm going to say it though - I do sometimes wonder if the 3030i's are what I should be listening too. They're amazing.
@@reubensingh1430 Are you using them primarily for music, or movies? I use mine mostly for music, so don't feel a need for a subwoofer. But if you want to have a real THUD from explosions and the like in movies, then a subwoofer would help with that.
The white are pretty. I went with grey - 3030i, 3010i and 3090ci. With grey, I think in 20 years the 'EVERYTHING GREY!' trend will have long passed and they're look terribly dated. That's the look I want.
Are they better on tube amps? I have the floor-standing 3050i, and I was amazed, not by the bass, but by the "wow" factor, and kept saying to myself, "God, these speakers are good." I heard class A is the way to go with these due to the 91dB sensitivity. I've tried the Myryad M120 and T40 pre with classes A-B, and also a class D with the Cryrus 8, with an added PSXR power supply, and it sounded amazing. Regardless of the amp, they shine. I would like to know the difference between tube and class D as I am thinking about buying. Thanks, Martin. Great videos, by the way. I'm a big fan.
@xperia they are excellent for movies. Nothing is boosted, just pure neutral sound. Some people like boosted treble for movies, but when you go cinemas, even the best ones in the world, you dont hear any boosted treble or anything fatiguing. The diamond 12s are perfect for movies. For music, the mids are just perfect, vocals take centerstage, guitar plucks and pianos sound absolutely lifelike. Bass is deep without being intrusive and only comes on when there are actual bass notes present in the track. A very neutral speaker bar the intentional bbc dip that you can listen for days without feeling tired.
@xperia the r51 is just too hot in the treble, even for movies. If you like such a sound, you wont like the laidback sound from wharfedales although the 12s are not as laidback as the 9s you own. The 12s certainly have more resolution. Compared to the 3010s you have, the 12.2 is definitely a huge step up. There are a few vids of the 12.2 on my channel, although my room is a little echoy for now, it conveys the tonality and traits of the speaker rather accurately
Nice review. Just a thought....if you adjust the height of the front of the stands up it would angle the tweeter up a notch to make up for the short stands.
I've already bought some wharfedale diamond 220s for £99 and really happy with them but just can't stop watching your review. It's so interesting! P.s. are you Jack Black? Is this what you do when not making movies or rocking out? 👍👊
These are not their top-end bookshelf speakers. Those are the Concept 300, which you should definitely get hold of, because if you like these you will love those. They are a lot more expensive.
I have the concept 300s and they are great. You would certainly like discussing their custom stands. They run at approximately $4500, are direct from Q Acoustics and are a great value.
Finally thx 4 review. Now I don't know what to choose. This one or Polk Audio Signature S20E :D. mehhhh ok.... Polk = more power with the same sound detail and probably almost the same design. what would your choose from them?
You need Earthworks QTC30/40/50 Microphones dude. Match them to the Earthworks mic preamps & absolute accuracy is what you get, given your room/converters/interface are quality.
My wallet is not liking that they're £275 prime shipped with the stands being an additional £169, not too bad value wise it seems. Damn you white speakers being really pretty to me! I will say though, The Light Wood versions of the Warfedale Diamond 12.2 are also tempting going off looks alone at £299...
Careful, Zeos is has a habit* of highlighting products' strengths - in this case, appealing/unique looks, bass extension, vast sound spread, and available matching stands - while glossing over the products' weaknesses... in this case, a lack of clarity in the mids and treble, treble roll-off, overall not a good value considering the many other speaker options in this price range. * This review style benefits him, as he gets a commission if people buy the products from his affiliate links.
They’re decent for the $$ but let’s be honest, these do not have a “hifi” detailed sound. But it’s good that someone is making affordable /entry level speakers for the hobby.
Just bought the grey pair using your link, and got the Micca cables while I was at it, should arrive within a week so excited! Edit: going to use my Loxjie D10 & A10 combo to drive these... idk if that is a crime but fuck it!
@@j1nftw1n Overall I like it. I will say if you plan to listen at low volume and within close range the A10 has a hiss between 10 and 2 o'clock, but at higher volumes or a distance of 6 or more feet you can't hear it. I typically set the volume at just below 10 and use the D10 as my pre-amp to control the volume setting. I am looking to replace the A10, but keep the D10 as my DAC/Pre-amp. For now though I like the setup. The A10 can power these speakers to levels of which will damage them. If I max out the Pre-amp volume on the D10, I can't get the A10 above the 9 position... I mean I can, but its way above comfortable listening volume... and the speakers really feel like they can take it, but I rather not damage them.

@@brzozx7651 Both those amp choices are good. $400 is a tough spot for dacs, because if you're willing to spend a little more you can get a Bifrost 2 or Soncoz SGD1

Hey Zeos! IFI has just launched their new Singature set for hifiman headphones that come with an included 4.4 cable for balanced interconnect. I think it would make an interesting review and a good reason to bring back the sundaras from the shelf!
they have an analog eq that is supposed to mellow out the mid highs and bring in more sub-bass. Not many reviewer have gotten their hands on the set yet except for the sponsored ones :(
For much less money, a (specific) pad-swap will provide those improvements to the Sundara and other lower-priced (circular-cup) Hifiman headphones. In addition, you'll get a larger sound-stage, better imaging, and improved comfort... with any DAC or (appropriately-powered) amp. After much experimentation and research, the pads I settled on - and highly recommend - are from an American headphone-maker called ZMF. Their two best pad models for Hifiman headphones - that result in the sound differences you mentioned - are the *Auteur Hybrid* and *Universe Hybrid.* The Auteur pads give more bass and center-imaging. The Universe pads are more flat, more widely-compatible, and $10 cheaper. The Perforated models of each of the pads allow the headphones to reveal _everything_ about the sound. But if you're treble- or detail-sensitive, you should probably choose the solid versions.
I actually just ordered the dekoni hybrids around the time you left your comment. I believe others have had the same experience with the improvement in sub-bass. But for me the comfort was the reason I switched. My big ears rest on the driver, so i am hoping the dekoni pads are firm enough that they will remove the stress from my ears. I have a question for you though. What would you recommend as and amp to run for the sundaras. I currently have the zen DAC V2 and i am ordering a balanced cable to run to my sundaras for the extra power and quality. Edit: i should let you know that i am located in EU, so schiit is pretty much not an option
Please do your research...These are not Q Acoustics most expensive or their best bookshelf speakers. The Concept 300 bookshelf speakers are 4500.00 a pair. They are great. Ask to review them.
Sometimes he does this, he’ll get stuff in the mail and gets a review out with little to no preparation. Not for everyone but great entertainment value.
@@riseuplight Do you depend on his opinion? Would you like it to be right? Why would you go and buy a product on his advice? I guess it's your money and you can spend it anyway you like but I can't trust the guy/gal who can't get the facts straight. It seems small but he pushes these items and gets paid to do it. We have to trust that the information he gives us is correct. Not all of us live somewhere that we can get access to the products he pushes. Def tech or golden ear, anything that plugs into the wall with a powered bass section. On the cheap Svs ultra tower but they sound funky in the midrange.
Thanks to you I have the JBL studio 530s and Jamo 93s 11. I do have to say I'm sorry but the Jamo speakers sound a lot better than the JBLs. In every way possible. I have tried class AB, class D. Tube amps. Basically every kind of amp known to mankind. From 20 to 500 watts RMS. I have just basically settled on my Yamaha 100 watt per channel RMS stereo receiver with my vintage ADC equalizer/ spectrum analyzer. Digital cd player, record analog player. All sound so good.
