Hi, I will come to New Zealand in January whit 3 friends, I have already been in NZ when I was in high school in 2009 for a year (exchange student program). We will stay for about 3 weeks or something more, one of my friends has problem with his leg because he had a bad car accident and can't bend it very well. I will be the younger driver 26, and we will be 2 people driving. Do you have any particular suggestion for the tipe of car? 4 people, 4 big luggages I think. Do you have also suggestion for a particular rent company? We will arrive in Auckland and maybe coming back to Auckland is the best option for flight (to Italy, quite a long way) Also do you suggested to rent rooms with bnb or hostel now or later? We are not sure about our trip yet; we were thinking of chosing the place to stay the night during our road trip. Thanks for your time

I have to make a must stop in New Plymouth where my host family and friends live, so your program must be changed a little. I know thant January is not the best option becuase of "many people", but I would like to come during summer (I remembered the freezing days during July and August) and it is easyer to find days for holidays where I work. So you suggesto to book now everytingh! It will be hard

If you tell us a bit more about your trip we might be able to advise on the best options for you. How many people? What is your budget? How long do you want to travel? During which season?...

Is there any way where we dont have to lock our credit card? and Should i book online from my country in advance or I shall book directly after I come to nz,...We are 2 people and I will prefer some economical car and not luxurious
Sadly when booking from overseas you will have to use your credit card to book and you will have to book early for a trip in January. It is the busy season here in NZ so we suggest booking in October to insure you get the vehicle you want. However most companies will offer you insurance options with low excess so you won't risk your credit card if crashing the car if that stresses you. It is a bit more expensive though :(
Sadly in January the country is really busy and you will have a hard time finding a car to rent at the last minute and if you do it will be super expensive. You can try though, it is just not what we recommend :)
