OK, now wait a minute. It seems to me that a simple mode switch in Lightburn could make a majority of the features applicable to CNC machines as well. Obviously, some of the settings for power might be changed to spindle speed and passes might also include the Z position of each pass. But an almost all of the design tools (that make Lightburn so versatile) could be used in the CNC environment. Just a thought. 🤔

Lightburn is Gcode sending program, so yes, a lot of the features do work in 2D on a Grbl CNC.

It's funny to purposely create tabs when too often a piece doesn't cut all the way through due to glue spot, etc and you get 'tabs" you don't want. :) Seriously, we use tabs with our CNC projects to keep the wood from moving, and I guess that could also be helpful with a laser if you needed to go back and fix/add an engraving after cutting. thanks rich.

For some reason, my Windows 10 laptop won't let me change the order of operation by moving the layers. (Windows 11 - no problem) Now, rather than running a job twice, with different layers turned on or off, I think I'll try putting tabs on the outer cuts to keep the inner engraving in place. Thanks, Rich.

Your videos are super helpful and we have learned A LOT can you make a video of how to set up lightburn with the WECREAT? It said it is compatible but even with the manual set up it doesn’t want to detect the laser. We put the X and Y dimensions and also the laser origin. But that’s about as far as we got. If you’re not able to we totally get it but since you’re our new laser Guru we thought we’d ask 😊

I covered that at the end of the video.

Thanks again. I just had an idea. Occasionally when I cut out small slots the wood will drop on an angle and that then interferes with the laser and ruins the whole project. I can use tabs on those small slots to prevent that.

Hi LaHobbyguy. Thanks for your videos, they helped me learn to use Lightburn & y-x himmel in 3 days. Otherwise, everything has gone well, except Sculpfu's crooked aluminum profiles and oval rollers... Could you tell me how to remove the pungent burnt smell from finished products? I have been airing wooden products for several days and they still smell so bad that it stings the eyes. I can't sell those!

Hi Rich, liking some of the new features on latest LB, But i cannot burn with it, so need to be contacting support about that, Timer starts but just sits there, But regarding the constant running of the boundary, is it supposed to go back to home position in between each running of boundary, was kind of expecting it to just act like CO2 lasers etc do, and just run the actual cut outs position over and over? Cheers
@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy
@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy 6 месяцев назад
If you mean framing, no, it frames and then goes to the job origin.

Can you make it so that it does cut the perimeter, but not all the way through, so that the "top" of the piece has a continuous burned look instead of a razor cut?

Lower the power.

@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy I was talking about cutting the tab portion almost through (3/4 of the way maybe) the material, and the rest of the profile all of the way through. Sorry if I didn't make it clear about that before.

Hey Rich, I figured you'd be the one to ask. I'm buying a rotary attachment for my NEJE 3 max v2. NEJE recommends one that's $179, but it has no horizontal adjustment. Do you know if the Ortur Y-axis Rotary Chuck is compatible with my NEJE 3 Max? It's fully adjustable, just not certain it's compatible. This is the Ortur I'm talking about ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-chMcUsJe2g0.html Any help will be greatly appreciated

Ortur claims to be compatible with all diode lasers and provides adapter cabling.
