*CORRECTION* The Text that say "No Mic For Calls" on the Xtreme 2 @5:26 was meant to say "Mic For Calls" it's something I forgot to mention verbally but wanted to point it out at least with Text but failed at that to 🤣. Anyway I feel like jbl should have kept the Mic on this speaker!
Xtreme 3 has more low-bass, while the 2 has more upper-bass. They both sound really clean. At max volume the 3 is louder but pushes a bit too much high frequencies. Xtreme 3 is a great improvement, but IMO the 2 is definitely a better deal, (at least here in Italy where it recently went on sale for 129€, compared to 299€ of the 3) nice video as always man, keep up the good work!
I just have my XTREME 2 yesterday and I got it on Sale at $167 from our local store Philippines (SM San Jose) and I'm very happy that I got it! My 1st JBL speaker!! And I freaking loved it!
Considering the price of the Xtreme 3 and its over-all improvements, I'll be sticking with my Xtreme 2 for a bit longer. The PB 100 would be a better choice if you're willing to spend $349.95. ✌️
Hey DLX willington. I watched Gymcadaddy JBL extreme 3 video. The extreme3 has slightly louder but it the same bass. And you are correct the JBL extreme 3 it has more highs than the extreme 2 make it a littlebit brighter and louder than the extreme 2. That's why the JBL extreme 3 and the boombox 2 play in maximum volumes indoors then the highs are wayyy too much sharp and it can get earpiercing at times.

Thanx for the review. I owned a Extreme 2 for some months, and found yesterday a new feature. I was disapointed on the amount of volume it gave me, and yesterday i first time put the volume down from the speaker, not of my phone. And volume up again from the speaker , and all hell brake lose. Now its loud as hell. I dont understand how its possible, that before the volume was about 50% of what is now, and now its better than ok. Before the volume didnt go up, what ever i tried. Sorry for my bad english, i am from Finland and dont speak Englis so mutch.
I'm still rocking the Xtreme 1 I just mess about with my EQ on my phone to get the best sound from the speaker the Xtreme 2 is the better choice between the Xtreme 2 & 3...the Xtreme 3 isn't worth the money keep up the good work my man
As a fan of this speaker, and also a skateboarder, even if you have your Extreme strapped on tight/high up, there's absolutely no guarantee that your speaker is not going to make contact with the crown especially on the ends where those bumpers are placed that you're not a big fan of. Skateboarders/mtn bikers will appreciate the extra protection.
My main pros: xtreme 3: slightly better detail in the upper mids xtreme 2: slightly better global tonal balance My main cons: xtreme 3: slightly too much brightness in the treble range, wich "colours" the tonal balance a bit xtreme 2: bass aren't slightly as rich as they should ...My preferred in global sound wise, the xtreme 2. But in fact, for my son (16 years old anniversary) I've bought the xtreme 3. A louder max level is a point when in outdoors with friends. In other aspects, I bought JBL because in bluetooth speakers is maybe nearer to a real musical quality level than almost the whole universe of rival brands in this business, ...usually generalist, focused on selling by means of pure marketing, lying or being unexact in specs announced.
Yeah I thank the Xtreme 2 at higher volume levels gives a less piercing fatiguing sound signature at higher volume level then the Xtreme 3. And then I notice the Xtreme 2 has slightly more presence in the lower mid Range Region listening to this video with my sennheiser momentum 3.
@stratgibson After hearing both. X2 sounds more balanced. X1 is bass boosted to hell and back no offense. X3? I’m hearing tons of complaints about the hissing treble. I’ll stick with my X2.

I got 2 charge 5’s to achieve stereo, but I’m thinking to get the xtreme 3 and return my 2 charge 5’s. Are you able to make a video that shows if it’s worth it to get 2 charge 5’s instead of a xtreme 3? Would be a neat vs video imo.
Honestly, the bumbers are gonna be pretty useless. Maybe if you go trough a tight area like a door or something They might work. But the placement of them is kinda bad. If i bump it against the door it will probably still leave a dent or scratch on the speaker. I've done it with my xtreme 2 a bunch of times but no damage. (Xtreme2 4 life). As for the desigh, it will probably grow on me over time but i still think it's ugly. Also i've heard both of these irl. Imo, the bass is not a big improvement. Almost no difference. Overall sound quality is pretty much the same but i think xtreme 2 does it a little bit better. But i'm sure they will balance it out with a future firmware update on the xtreme 3
Me and my friend did a test and well the xtreme 2 was louder, it was a Gunmetal Special Edition Xtreme 2, and a Black Regular Xtreme 3, the Xtreme 2 was noticeably louder and bassier, a bit blurry in higher frequencies.
Yeah no sh it. The gun metal version is basically the Xtreme 2 but capped at version 2.6.0 there's no other version available when buying gun metal meaning it will always be updated by default unlike the other xtreme 2's (PL's stock firmware 1.9.0/1.6.0)(GG's stock firmware 2.4.0)(GUN METAL firmware = 2.6.0 CANNOT CHANGE) As you can tell 2.6.0 has the best sound and it's probably better than the Xtreme 3 entirely
Hello.. Nice videos.. if I connect it via cable to a mixer... the sound takes more than a second to start. That is, after silence, it has a pause before resounding. Has it ever happened to you?

I noticed the xtreme was hitting the slightest bit deeper it sound more rich and heavy I enjoy watching your Harman Kardon videos because the onyx studio 5-6 sound very deep rich and heavy

currently have a mega boom 3, in your honest opinion is it worth it to spend the extra $100-$150 for the xtreme 3? Because i thought the 2 sounded better at times as well.
Both are amazing, but there is not much difference the Xtreme 3 sounds a little clearer and a little deeper bass, than the Xtreme 2, honestly the Xtreme 2 is more worth it for the price
I think its not really worth it upgrading to xtreme 3. Beside those side bumpers that dont look really good but are somehow efficient, the sound is just a very little better like the bass, but still not worth the extra money
there's a feeling that xtreme 2 has more bass on low volumes, but actualy it's an inllusion caused by the highs. Definitely a great improvement on the highs. it was a thing that miss on the xtreme 2: more bright. But, audio is subjective. There's always people that prefere more warmer sound rather than brither ones. Besides, probably after a 200hrs or so playing music on the xtreme 3, the sound probably balance itself to a little more warmer signature, but with more bright, compared to xtreme 2. if is worth the price? i don't really know... but i really like the upgrade
Actually, this argument could go on forever. Depending on your definition of “more bass,” it could go either way, because the Xtreme 2 hits louder on the upper bass range. The xtreme 3 gets down to deeper notes, though it is quieter on the upper bass range! It is close though, and probably not worth an upgrade.
Do you know if the aux port on the Xtreme 3 will let connect other devices? I saw one video that said the Xtreme 2 aux port was only for updates, not for connecting devices. :( I liked the joke btw! Great review.
The AUX port has always been for plugging in a wired output. It sounds like youre talking about the service port, which might be the USB-C charging port.
Well, JBL sold 1 Million charge 4, and that s one million speakers who can t be connected to the xtrem 3. There is no reason bluetooth speakers from the same brand won t work together... expept hungry marketing...
The bumpers would be useful in my situation cuz once I has my Xtreme 2 strapped on and then it accidentally bumped a wall and now it has a huge scar on it lol
@@ChrisTian-sd5yq dunno they're really hard as far as I know. When you slam the thing against a wall you'll still hear a loud thud so I assume it's not harmless
Why its a same loud at 60% on jbl extreme 2 & 3, but i saw your other reviews jbl extreme 2 vs charge 5 at 60%, jbl charge 5 is louder so the charge 5 louder than extreme 3?

Weird fun fact: The Xtreme 2 has more bass than the Xtreme 3 even though the Xtreme 3 is rated 10W more. This was only tested on battery mode and not when they were both plugged in

Just wondering, those who own a 2nd speaker, do you use the two speaker equally, or the 2nd speaker is strictly for pair up to party? Edit: I listen to this with 1000xm3 with totally flatten eq. Im impressed to manage to hear some bass LOL.
I think my extreme 2 is muffled because of sound snictuture since I got a jbl clip 4 I don't own the extreme 3 yet but small size of clip 4 has "JBL orginal pro sound " just like extreme 3 and charge 5 someday I will own the extreme 3 pretty soon.
That USB c charging though... I’m coming from my JBL Xtreme 1 (purchased in 2017), and gunning for this one as an upgrade since my battery has now detonated badly. It can’t hold charge for way under an hour anymore.
Same mine, 3 years and then battery problem begun... i want xtreme only if it is possible to charge it via powerbank as even xtreme1 was brandnew it was playing only max 3 hours on full volume 😐 too short for all night on the beach 😆
That's does not make much sense since xtreme 2 was changed in design not so much inside and the jbl xtreme 3 was changed completely so that means extreme 1 and 2 should sound about the same and 3 should sound different
hope they make batteries for this too, i have the xtreme 1 for 5 years now i replaced the battery 2x using cameron sino battery, there are also batteries for the xtreme 2,,its like having a forever bluetooth speaker when you can change battery imo😀 oh just take care of it, not wrecking or dropping it and submerging it, its an electronic device not a scuba equipment 😂
