Incredibly, Arbroath FC are a part time team in the Scottish Championship who are TOP OF THE LEAGUE!
If you thought Greece winning EURO 2004 was a big deal or Leicester winning the 2016 Premier League then just wait until you hear about the meteoric rise of Arbroath through Scottish football!
I interviewed Mike Caird (chairman), Ian Campbell (assistant manager) & Dick Campbell (manager) to hear more about this incredible football club!!!

I’m an Inverness fan so I know a lot about the magnificence of Arbroath this season. They exceeded everyone’s expectations completely, a lot of people had them to go down. They have one of the less valuable squads in the league but oh boy do they have amazing togetherness, fans and a great manager in dick Campbell. I want them to go up aswell as us!

Amazing story and video, and that's despite the game called off. Everybody loves an underdog, and I hope that Arbroath go all the way. Also, everywhere the staff at the clubs and people in general just seem incredibly friendly and open.

I'm a London boy and bred and a season ticket holder at Crystal Palace. I've never been to Arbroath but ever since I was a kid I have always looked out for their results as the old boy who lived next door used to play for them and my old and me would listen to his footballing stories bless him... I make a point of paying for a membership and buying their shirt every year just to put some money into the club no matter how little... So weird how we become affiliated to clubs isn't it

Got to love this video! As a Thistle fan (based in Japan), I was just about to sign up for pay for view for this game, so I'm disappointed it was off. But as I used to go to Arbroath on holiday when I was a child, I've always looked out for their results, and if the Jags don't get promoted to the SPL, then I really hope the Red Lichties can do it. Hope Sam got a fish supper at the harbour. They are out of this world!

Great video Sam.. The staff at Arbroath are mega to allow you so much access and welcoming friendly factors like this is most likely the main reason they are a club on the rise.. So much information provided about the club and the fact you got to interview the chairman assistant manger and manager in one video is incredible and this shows imo why the club is currently doing so well. The lack of game footage is irrelevant when you have so much access like this.. Top club and good luck Arbroath on promotion this season to continue this recent fairytale.. Watching this video has made me want to keep an eye out now for Arbroaths results till the end of the season just like I have been doing since the video you uploaded for Kelty Hearts.. Up the Red Lichties🤞

As a Mo fan (Montrose FC) I like to see them doing well. Don’t get me wrong, the relationship between the fans of the Mo and the Smokies has been at times very volatile, but they were great to have at Montrose, brought a large crowd and the atmosphere was tremendous. Well done Iain and Dick Campbell and Arbroath. One Arbroath fan told me he wants to see a statue of Dick Campbell next to Robert the Bruce in Arbroath 😂

I really enjoy the channel's coverage of Scottish football. Most of the clubs featured seem to be very much in touch with their local community. I can remember a BBC feature on Arbroath when Danny McGrain the former Celtic player was manager.

Great video Sam, perhaps even better because the game was called off. It’s really exciting what’s happening at Arbroath just now. I’m a Forfar Athletic supporter, Arbroath are traditionally our local rivals, thought currently we’re two divisions apart, but I’m excited for them and hope they get their promotion to the Premiership. A great club and, of course, the management team and a few of the players are ex Forfar so we have a real respect for them. Forfar are looking good in League 2, almost certain to be in the playoffs, Montrose are looking like promotion candidates in League 1 and Brechin doing very well in their first season in the Highland League so football in Angus is exciting all round not just Arbroath’s amazing achievements

Although disappointing the game was postponed in some ways it facilitated an even better video for yourself! Really enjoyed it! I had a similar experience when I popped in when I was working in the area and the secretary showed me around including allowing me to wear the managers coat for a photograph in the tunnel! Great club and I really hope they pull it off and get into the premiership next season!

Great video on the history of the abbey and the club I know the chairman pretty well as some directors and club officials I have been supporting the club since I was about 8 or 9 I will be 62 this year! I live in Forfar I have your other video on other clubs I have visit almost every ground in Scotland with Arbroath not seen them at St Mirren's new ground or Cove's but seen Arbroath at their old ground was at Kelty to see Stranraer in September

Brilliant Sam….Scottish footballing romanticism. I used to attend university in Aberdeen and loved heading south to take in games at Forfar, Brechin, Arbroath and Montrose. Interesting history with the declaration of Arbroath; many believe that Americas spirit of freedom was born in Arbroath. More than half of those who signed the Declaration of Independence were of Scottish ancestry!

I’d travelled up from Wolverhampton to go to the match on Saturday, couldn’t believe it when it was called off although it was very windy. Went to Montrose instead so still got a footy fix but just means I have to make the 12 hour round trip again soon to go to Gayfield 🤧

I think I read that when the SFA sent the invitation to Bon Accord to play in the Scottish Cup vs Arbroath, they sent it to the wrong club and it was the Bon Accord cricket team that played the Red Lichties. If true that might explain the score!

Archie Thompson scored 13 in one game for Australia in a 31-0 win against American Samoa about 20 years ago. World record for an international. A few days earlier Australia beat Tonga 22-0 in another World Cup qualifier. 53 goals in qualification within 4 days. Not bad. In the next World Cup Australia moved to the Asia region where the standard was considerably higher.

It'd be difficult to make big changes at Arbroath as there's hardly any money in Scottish football, even in the Premier League. Winning promotion isn't the same financial bonanza as English football. If they managed to stay up for a couple of seasons that'd make a difference, but they are a small club, even in the context of Scottish football.

And i'm not expecting Arbroath to go spending millions on their stadium. But I am curious if they have any plans to increase their capacity to maximise visiting fans by a few thousands should they complete this Fairy Tail

@@Bucksbhoy0910 Hoops man myself, and I've no connection with Arbroath, so I'm just speculating. It'd be difficult to imagine that they'd risk spending the cash on a new stadium given how precarious their position would be even if they did get promoted. Having said that, you can see some cracking wee grounds in the 6,000 capacity range. Victoria Park (Ross County, not Hartlepool FC) is a decent ground, and St Mirren's ground is also a very smart wee ground, (though bigger at 8,000). Dunno how many supporters they could pull in - population is 23,000, and it's only 16 miles from Dundee. It all boils down to the shocking deal Scottish football gets from TV companies - more cash and Championship clubs could see a more sustainable future. It'd be a fantastic story - I remember them kinda coming to my attention when Danny McGrain managed them for a couple of years in the early 90s, so I do wish them all the best 🍀

Gretna's success was founded on sand rather than sound foundations as they ended up in debt when their millionaire owner ended up having a stroke and dying.

Not even remotely the same. Arbroath don't have a rich benefactor ploughing money into the club as Gretna had. Arbroath are also a far bigger club than Gretna and have alread played in the top flight more than once in their history.
