I sure can relate to you about keeping ephemera in those photo boxes from Michael’s. I thought that was such a brilliant idea, but for me out of sight is out of mind. Once I switched to this ephemera book idea it is so much easier to see what I have.
This is a good idea for ephemera that is always a storage issue. (a good rainy day activity😁) I was wondering if you thought about using repositionable glue dots? You can cut the regular size smaller (or they sell mini glue dots) add to the back and when you use the ephemera piece you can roll off the glue dot and use it again. TFS gina
That’s a great idea Gina! I used to LOVE those! I don’t have any now, but I think it is a great option! And maybe if you stick the glue directly to the paper instead of the ephemera, then you can even reuse it more?! 💗
This video is perfect timing. I am organising all my ephemera and scraps and was wondering how to store my ephemera. You have shown me the way 🙂. Thank you.
You can put them on sticker release paper and use a 3 hole punch to put in a binder. You can reuse the release paper (backing that you take off sticker so you can put sticker wherever you want them), and being in a binder lets you adjust your pages when needed to help with organization. Another tip, instead of using the adhesive remover to remove the stickiness use your powder tool. Wipe it clean when you want to use adhesive again.
What type of tool to remove tape? Are you talking about the old pages that my mom stuck pictures on the a clear sheet went over if not can you list a type? Thanks Dawn
I use the old photo albums (with the magnetic paper with the plastic covers) , in 3-ring notebooks. I sort mine by Style & include packet cover if all together on page also. I labeled mine with tabs that stick out for quickly finding what I might want. **I love the idea to use small piece of runner tape on those stubborn pieces that keep falling out! You could always convert a binded book to a 3-ring notebook if you wanted to change the order of one that is bound.
I’m a newbie to junk journaling and was so happy to find this video! As I’m watching I’m thinking maybe sheets of paper protectors. Put a piece of the media paper or cardstock inside and stick the ephemera to the plastic? Maybe waxed paper too? I think you should develop an ephemera storage book for purchase! It could come with the sticky dots already on the plastic pages and just pull plastic back and stick 😃 New subscriber. Thanks for all your videos 👏
Hi Ingred, I know that I’m a year late with my suggestion but when you are working on the little labels or even the larger ones that you lay side to side so evenly in your book, rather than glue just run a strip of tape runner down the page and stick them to it closely like you did in this video. Voila!! Way less messy than glue and really quick! I love this idea by the way!❤️
I recently went through all my small labels and organized them by shape, size and color. IN A LITTLE DIVIDED BOX!!! Ugh!!! I’ll never know what is in there. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!! Im so excited to get them all in a book. You’re so right, it will be a GAME CHANGER!!! Thank you for taking the time to make this video for us! I’m loving your channel!🤗😁🤗
I did this method years ago in 3 ring binders. I personally have regretted doing this. But that’s based off how I craft. But I’m glad it’s working out for you so well! ❤
Thank you so much for sharing this with us!! I just found your channel and am loving all of your very helpful videos!! When I started making my own ephemera book, I wanted a way to keep things even more organized (by designer, color, theme, etc). So I transformed the sketch book into a disc bound book (by using a mushroom hole punch & extended/extra large discs). This has turned this awesome idea into something even more awesome, so I wanted to share it with you 😊 Now, I can add more blank pages wherever I need to add more ephemera. I can take out pages of ephemera I think will go with the junk journal I’m working on, lay them all out in front of me, use what I want, then put the pages back into the correct notebooks when I’m done. If you want, you can also add tabs for organizing into sections (by designer, color, theme, etc). Hope this tip is helpful!! 😊 Blessings
I desperately need to organize ephemera like everyone else. I just read the comment below. There are sticker collection books. Would that work? Of course, you would still need to put glue dots or runners on the back of each piece so I guess it wouldn't really be any easier and this option would be cheaper. I like the loose leaf idea though. Thanks, Ingrid!!! Looks like a snowy winter day project to me... Lol BUT, as you all say, I don't use what I have now nor can I find it, so this might make a BIG difference!!!
Wow this has changed my life! My need for organizing and collecting and Junk Journaling thanks you. I have a bunch of ways of storing my ephemera and it is confusing so this helps so much. Thanks
Very inspiring to get my ephemera out and make it more useful. I think I will look at storing my bought packets in the front of the book and my digital pieces, I will start from the back :) I am a colour girl so it might be a bit of a mish mash lol!!. thanks Ingrid 😃
I am a very organized person...I would do it be themes...like u said Journaling...flowers...plants...signs..people...words...Bible scriptures...designs...vintage..ect...food...pets...
Thank you for the inspiration . I store my printables in a clear sleeve folder. Of course when you start fussy cutting them they all become mixed up , so still the need to go through them. Now thanks to your inspiration I am using washi doubled over on itself to stick them on a piece of A4 plain paper and now at a glance I can see what I have. Thank YOu
I love this. So glad I found it! I am thinking about doing this but because all my "Ephemera " is all over, putting the main papers in a ring binder or using my disc punch on the papers. So when I find more mushroom but don't have room, I can add another paper. I can also make pockets for the 100's of old postcards I have, different book of course...
First off all is it bad that I got a little jealous when you started talking about all your ephemera?! 😍😍😍 I HIGHLY recommend this method…I will never look back! 💗
I have a lot of my things in those exact clear plastic boxes from Michael's. Put away so neatly and labeled, not used. 😑 I'm realizing that having a bit of a mishmash to thumb through is more inspiring so this might totally be the way for me to go. Thanks so much for the video Ingrid!
Are these words of all sizes from ??? Tim Holts or ??? They r a cute style. What size (18 x 21 ins??) You said large but what size is large in inches is the book u are using to paste the ephemera in? Love your style n it's an extra blessing when u tie in a scripture at times..God Bless u for sharing your talents n passions with all who watch your videos..
I would like to know what your ephemera book looks like now and your thoughts on how it is working. More like an update, since it has been one year later.🥰
I was also wondering if you could use some of those old-fashioned magnetic photo page ( the ones where you peel back the flap of clear plastic and stick the photos on the low-tack adhesive, then cover them with the flap.🤷♀️
As you know I made one based on yours and I just have to say - what a huge difference this has made! I’m now using things I didn’t even remember having because now I can see it all🤣
Thank you for sharing Ingrid. I love this idea❤ lol when you pulled out the atg gun I was like whoa...we mean business here...lol I love mine as well...I had bought it before the pretty pink ones came out so mine is the serious red...I finally ended up altering it shabby. I will definitely try this so I can get all my ephemera in one place... The journal type ephemera holders are pretty neat as well though it takes time to make one where this is get right to it😍
It’s funny because every time I get the glue working well I think why don’t I use this all the time but then when my glue paper breaks, I’m like this is why 😂 The red one is the I MEAN BUSINESS roller!!! 💪✨
Hello My Awsome Friend❤I love everything about your videos👌You’re a top notch organizer,Crafter,Your videos are inspiring and Exquisite. TFS!❤❤ Outstanding idea! Hugs !❤😘
I think that’s a great way to organize it as well! The biggest negative I can come up with is that when you add new ephemera you might run out of room for a specific color? ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Do you put your stickers in this book also? What about big rolls of clear printed washi tape? What do t you put in this book? Can you link that big glue gun? Thanks Dawn
Dawn, I would not put stickers that don’t have a backing, but I think that the ones with a backing would work. As for washi, let me think about that one! I’ve linked the glue gun, although I could only find it in yellow. 💛
OOOOO!!! Thank you so much! Idk why I didn't think of this too! As an INFJ, this would seriously help with organization!!! I've only been doing JJ'ing since Oct or Nov, and I have to say, i's very addicting! LOL! I still can't get my brain to come up with ideas a I have bought many books from the library when they had a book sale. (another one coming up in Sept!! Hehe) But I tear everything out and have them stored in 3 drawer plastic... whatever its called. (Pst! I watch Kdramas too and listen to Kpop!!! ♥)
Yes, my theory behind the FM book is that I can see everything readily available thus and more likely to use it. When it’s laid out like that, I can easily put my project next to it and see if it coordinates or not. 💗💗💗
