Great video! I'm curious as to why you didn't adhere the glitter vinyl to the shirt first, then line up the print and then hit it with the press to sublimate it? That would eliminate the need for the Teflon sheet. I really enjoy your tutorials!
I find it hard to line up the design after it's on the shirt, and holding up the shirt to the light doesn't allow light through the same way the teflon sheet does. But if that process works for you, it's totally fine. I feel better knowing that my design is lined up before pressing on the shirt, so I can repress if needed before applying. Hope this helps! ---Becky
This worked great, I was having a hard time lining things up, the offset worked great, plus I used my lightbox to help see better. This worked 100% better then what I was doing. Thank-you.
Could you possibly press the HTV in the desired spot on the garment and then let it cool and then sub? Wasn’t sure if it mattered if the H TV was heated prior to placements.
That's actually the preferred, and easier, way to do it. Just tape the sublimation print down so it doesn't shift when closing the heat press (highly preferred) or when using an Easy Press. And, contrary to what she says, pressure is key for good sublimation.
I was looking for a tutorial on this exact technique. (I need all the help I can get, when it comes to aligning my design to the HTV cutout.) I kept putting in all the wrong search terms, somehow, and kept finding the "press it on the shirt first" instead of sublimating first, and adhering to the shirt later. Your video just happened to pop up in my recommendations just now, and I'm so grateful!
This was amazing!!! I have watched at least 5 videos and they have NOT helped me at all the way you just did!!!! I am way more confident with sublimating on glitter now because of you! THANK YOU SO MUCH😍👍👍
Thank you for your kind words, I'm so happy to help! I was also frustrated with subbing on glitter HTV, so we were definitely in the same boat! I'm glad we found each other! ---Becky
Love this! You are the best. I've had a project on my desk for weeks and was wondering how to sublimate one part of it with glitter!!!! I just haven’t researched it yet and here’s my answer! ❤️
Great video. I do it a little differently. I actually tack the glitter to the teflon sheet for a few seconds. It is then much easier to remove the carrier sheet. Then line up your print. You don't need to spray it, you can actually tape it to the teflon sheet.
Great tips, Buddy! I don't press on the Teflon yet because it's easier for me to line up with just the HTV, but everyone has a different preference! I'm glad you found what works for you and are sharing it to help others! I appreciate you! ---Becky
Buddy, any tips on this process. I have a design with lots of letters so I am thinking I can press that onto the teflon sheet first. Then line up my sublimation print. Just don't know how it will work when peeling up from the teflon sheet to place on the garment. I imagine there is a risk of all the letters moving around.
@@priscillaramos1105 Just press the HTV to the item for 5 seconds, lay your sub print on it, tape it down, and press it at 400º for 60 seconds. Done. Quick and easy.
Thank you so much for the great video :) One little thing tho. I was waiting for the reason as to why you need a dedicated teflon sheet for this. I also used my heat press. teflon on bottom, image and butcher paper on top. What I didn't realize is when I lifted the teflon off my heat press it left a perfect melted shape on my heat press pad :( but my print turned out beautifully lol
Hey Charlene! When you say a melted shape, could that be extra adhesive from your HTV coming through the Teflon? That's what I'm thinking due to another viewers experience also. I have not experienced this before but I'm researching this for you guys. I'm wondering if it's because of the higher pressure. But to answer your original question, I use a dedicated Teflon sheet because of the adhesive and the sub ink, I don't want any of that to transfer to my HTV projects. Hope this helps! ---Becky
@@DesignBundles Yes, I had this same problem with the adhesive coming through the Teflon. Would a paper of some sort in between the teflon and the heat pad work to protect the pad? Wonderful video, thank you!!
Hey Fernando! Yes, the product is very glittery, it only dulls the slightest bit during sublimation. If you want a non-glitter option, look into EasySubli, it can be used in the same way that this is but you can skip the step of removing the carrier sheet since it doesn't have one. I'll link our EasySubli video here for you. Hope this helps! ---Becky ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Xlon5yxRfZM.html
Hi Beckie, I was wondering if you have done any videos on how to use the RETRO fonts from font bundles. I would love to find out the best way to use them and how to use them. Hugs
Thank you for your videos you are my go to when needing to learn something also do you do the standard temp for vinyl at the end when pressing your image
Thanks for your kind words, I'm glad you enjoy the tutorials! Yes, after sublimating, I just press for whatever I would use for the HTV, in this case 320 for 15 seconds. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Do you ever notice any loss of saturation when using the tack spray ? not sure if it makes a barrier between the polyacrylic in the glitter htv causing it to not be as vibrant as it can be since the glitter takes away some already compared to easysubli. Nevertheless this must be the smartest transfer technique I've ever seen with no margin of error . I was trying to come up with a solution to ensure a perfect alignment to the htv and this is genius!
She does this a very difficult and time consuming way. Mirror the glitter HTV, as usual, then press it for about 5 seconds. Peel off the carrier sheet. Print (mirrored) your sublimation design. Trim if needed, then (heat) tape it down on the HTV you just quick pressed on your item. Press at 400º for 60 seconds with higher pressure. Pressure is one of the keys to good sublimation saturation. That's one reason why it pays to buy a pretty decent heat press. Also, check into Honestly Spinking sublimation paper (that's what I'm getting next), and I use Dyenamic Ink sublimation ink found on Etsy for my Epson printer. Beautiful, vibrant colors, especially on white glitter HTV. I just made a Bengals shirt for my husband, and the colors pop. Just to note, I typically use Siser white glitter HTV. It works well, and no loss of vibrancy.
Hey there! Thanks for watching and welcome to Sublimation! Sublimating on Glitter HTV holds up very well in the wash! It's a fantastic way to add that extra pop to Sublimated apparel. It works on all brands of Glitter HTV that I have tried so far.
I'm wondering if you could skip the step of heating it onto the teflon and just heat both layers on the shirt at the same time? The tack spray will make sure it stays put and the amount of pressure, heat, and time you need for sublimation is more than enough for the vinyl underneath.
Thank you for this video. I subscribed to your channel. I'm new to the cricut thing and sublimation. I started yesterday. I'm so lost lol but I'm rewatching. I would love to know how to do this. I have cricut design. I don't know how to do the graphic like you did. How to print part on cricut and design on my Epson.
Great video what temperature did you use the second time. I have read some comments but didn’t see anyone asking about it. Your clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Hey Sara! You can reduce the heat to 320 for 15 seconds on the second press since you are only adhering the glitter to the shirt. Hope this helps! ---Becky
@@DesignBundles I have finally tried it and it was SUCCESSFUL!! Thank you for your great videos. My next step is to learn the software you use. I only know Design Space.
You said you were using white glitter but something other than standard white glitter? had colored specks in it? or did I hear that wrong? but I think you answered my question. that question was although your glitter had to be cut to a certain spec to fit the design - the sublimation printed out on your printers did not also have to be a specific cut to match, you just needed to line it up with your cut vinyl? and that is because white won't print? just the printed design.??
Yes! You are correct! I use the Rainbow White (it's just a "color" option for the glitter HTV) because I like it better. But for your design, you can print it from wherever, and then cut your HTV with your Cricut, as long as they are sized correctly. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Great video. Can you please tell me what easy tack you are using. I've noticed there are two, one is a repositionable and one is not. What one should I buy? Thank you for your help
Hey there! Glitter Iron-on and HTV should be the same, Iron-on is just typically a term used for Cricut brand. I haven't tried Cricut brand, only Stahls and Siser, but it should work the same. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Very nice and helfully video,i have a question....do i really need to use siser? becouse we dont have in uk and to order from usa is very expensive :( can i use anything else?if yes, what? thank you very muck!
Hey Faith, yes, this would work for any type of design, just the more detailed designs require more effort and patience to line up. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Is it better to sublimate on the vinyl before adding to the shirt? It seems as though it would be since the cotton shirts tend to score, especially the lighter ones. I have seen so many tutorials that put on the htv and press, then add the htv. I tried that method and my shirt scorched.
Hey Yvonne, unfortunately you cannot, but you can sublimate on Siser EasySubli, which is a matte white HTV meant for sublimation. Hope this helps! ---Becky
How did the shirt hold up after multiple washes? I'm new but didn't know you can reheat vinyl several times and it will still stick to the shirt. I'm a newbie though so I don't know 👍
I was told yesterday (4-11-2022) that you can use any color glitter? not just white. but they use specialty materials which may be different than what you used. OR is there an update on sublimating on glitter? I'd like to experiment with other colors but thought I'd ask first before wasting or purchasing materials. I do have other colors of glitter from a different company. (not the Specialty Materials brand) I think it's Siser but not sure. I did buy a sheet of the brand they sell because pretty sure that will work, but I only bought the white. thank you.
PLEASEEEE is there a video showing how you did the outline or offset. this video is great and simple, but if there is not a PART 1 thats shows how you uploaded the imagine an cut it to prepare for the sublimation part.... i dont understand what the purpose of this particular video. Canyou please point me in the right direction. thank you.
Hey Shawanda! With dark color tees, you can definitely use the sublimation and glitter HTV method, it turns out great. But you won't be able to sublimate directly onto the dark fabric, you won't be able to see the design well. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Okay, so correct me if my thinking is wrong- but this method would not work for images that are more than one piece, yes? I want to make a unicorn head on a shirt for my daughter. But the eyelashes for the unicorn's face are separate/unattached pieces from the unicorn horn and crown. So this method wouldn't work then, right?
Hi Jillian! Our apologies for the delay in response and we hope you've found the answer but if you are still having any troubles, please feel free to write in to mail@designbundles.net or join us in a live chat so we can help with your next project! - Dawn
Hey Tina!! Just be sure to check out the great Silhouette videos we have! So far we've covered an introduction to Silhouette Studio, Tracing, the Modify Panel, using HTV, Adhesive Vinyl, patterns... The list goes on! I also take requests if there's something you have in mind.

Hi 👋 I really loved you tutorial. Do you have the link for the Dedicated Teflon you used to align the glitter htv to the sublimation image? Please and Thank You
hi, im new to sublimation and am not having that much luck! i have people that want RTS awareness stuff that is hard to find ive tried sublimating on iron on white vinyl and the sublimation goes through it? can you help me?? thank you and God bless.
Hi Kilah! This feels more like a vinyl project rather than a sublimation project. The HTV sits on top of the shirt rather than the it being infused like sublimation does. 😊
Can the spray be any brand as long as it is repositional? Love your videos. I have already done a shirt with your method minus the adhesive spray n it turned out awesome.
Hey Ashleigh! It does, but you'll just have a smaller design area since you are limited in print area in Cricut Design Space. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Thanks for this video - I am new to sublimation and my daughter wants an image in glitter on a black sweatshirt! So looking at the comments - this is a glitter vinyl so it will appear like glitter correct - also I looked up the Stahl's and it is something I have to order on line but I did see the Siser glitter vinyl at Michael's - will it work the same?
Hey Jody! Yes, you will definitely see the glitter after sublimating. Yes, I have used Siser Glitter successfully in the past. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Are you looking for the Easy Tack spray by Krylon? It's sold in Walmart and Amazon but it may not be available in your location. Aleene's Tacky Spray is similiar and is craft stores like Joann's and Michaels as well! - Dawn
@@DesignBundles I might try it then because I tried to print the design on easy subli and my Maker tore the intricate parts ..it did fine with regular htv but it's SO much to weed. I was trying to look for an alternative
Hi Becky, Peter from Antwerp Belgium here. Learned a lot from you already. I was just wondering - does it necessarely have to be glitter? Can you sublimate on, let's say regular Stahl white HTV? Is the glitter just for the effect?
Hey Jody, Stahls also sells vinyl that is created for commercial printing (patterns), so that may be what you are looking at? I've only ever used their Glitter Flake for sublimation. You can contact their customer service if you need specific information. Hope this helps! ---Becky
I have been sublimating by pressing glitter to shirt first, then adding sublimation and reheating. My designs feel thick like a patch. When you do yours do they feel this way or am I over heating??
Great question! It's a black foam that I picked up, it's cheaper than teflon pressing pillows so I use it for Sublimation. Check out Coastal Business Supplies, I believe that's where I snagged these. Thanks for watching! ---Becky
Hey Iyne! You do need the Glitter HTV since that's what binds to the sublimation ink, but you can also use Siser EasySubli if you need a non-glitter finish. Hope this helps! ---Becky
@@DesignBundles Hi Becky, does it have to be Siser white Glitter HTV or will any glitter htv work? I love your videos and the way you explain everything - very helpful!!
