UPDATE: After some testing done with @IroskTheOrc (Thanks again man), i am happy to admit that i was wrong about the interaction between Empathic Evasion/Riposte/Precognition. In the clip in the video Empathic evasion is activating because i am dodging to evade the horde which makes it look like the interaction is working. CHANGES: 1)Remove empathic evasion and pick up Perilous combustion 2) Remove Precognition Blessing and use Uncanny Strike Apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused! Just cuz you say it doesn't make it so, Im holding you liable for my next god roll. i ain't launched the game and dont know what im rolling for yet, but when i do, im holding you accountable.
Rampage on the dueling sword is pointless as you need to hit 3 targets at once to get it to proc. Better off leaving it as riposte paired with uncanny strike.
So after a week of your assail psyker build gameplay. I've decided that you're correct, I couldn't make assail work on the harder difficulties before but now I'm absolutely melting everything. I have a great void staff almost god tier 377 with a dump in resistance, my only way of toughness regen is with warp build up and the bubble. It's the only crutch to the build and I feel skilled enough to make it work. Auric Maelstrom was only usually attempted with my purg build, but this assail build is very effective with the right team. I'm still extremely vulnerable to armour if it gets close but the void can knock anything down with a charged headshot. My only wish for the assail ability is that the single shot was chargeable like the staff. You've breathed new life into the game sir thank you
One thing to mention in terms of min-maxing bonuses, toughness regen speed will really only effect your passive toughness regen from coherency with psyker, because all of your toughness regen mechanics via the talent tree are instantaneous. Toughness regen speed is exceptionally good on Veteran due to the regen over time nature of all their regen nodes, but on psyker it is better replaced with something else. Cheers. Thanks for the vid.
One way that I like to use assail is to use it in conjunction with the columnus since I think they have pretty good synergy for horde clear. You'll basically spam assail into a horde until your peril is maxed out and then immediately swith to the columnus to magdump into that horde without quelling peril. Max peril gives the columnus a good damage bonus from warp rider, and getting kills with the columnus will give you stacks of malefic momentum and perfect timing to boost your assail damage. By the time your mag is empty, your peril should have mostly depleted on its own and your assail shards regenerated. Switch back to spamming assail, rinse and repeat. This also helps to conserve ammo as a gun psyker.
Tried it and loved it! Thanks for the build! Started Darktide with Assail Psyker and really missed it after the recent set of nerfs on it. This build makes it at least viable and I can strike fear in my teammates again every time a Daemonhost is around xD
Will give this build a go on my psyker, looks fun. Been trying to find something to get away from my absurdly overpowered zealot flamer/relic combo (fan the flames for absurd cc) but it's getting boring always playing one char / build haha, need to give my other classes some love!
I have spent hundreds of thousands of credits, and tens of thousands of materials trying to unlock that surge blessing, and I think at this point the game just hates me.
They should make Assail be able to be charged into a ranged spear that gains more damage and armor penetration against a single target at the cost of 3 Shards per spear with a Peril buildup of around 30% per spear.
Coming into this game fresh, I've played all 4 "classes" to get them to level 10 so I had an idea of what each was capable of. Psyker is the most confusing, this is great!
You can throw shards and even range attack a sleeping demonhost, but you can not shine at it (flashlight, psyker's smite) and you can not get too close.
Dodges from empathetic evasion DO NOT trigger riposte and precognition. The clip you showed doesnt even include ranged shots, which is what empathetic evasion effects
Just wanna say I don't want to come across passive-aggressive at all in what I am about to say. But it appears to work for me, as demonstrated in the clip in the video. Understand that it's only counts for ranged attacks, but from what I can see, when you get a crit, it puts you in a dodging state that meets the successful dodge criteria for riposte and precognition. I will do some further testing as i may be wrong and in the case what you are saying is true, i would 100% advise dropping the talent from this build. Thanks for bringing this to my attention!
the dueling sword's heavy attack is a pure nightmare for armored targets, but a forcesword with uncanny could do the trick with forcepush as well. depends on which playstyle suits you more
I tried a similar assail build when it first arrived. I stuck to my Illisi force sword and focused less on critical however. It probably speaks more to my lack of skill than the build itself but I couldn't make assail work in auric games. The fact that so many armoured enemies litter the hordes meant that the shards were rendered moot after they hit flak or carapace. It's unfortunate because it's the coolest ability by far. A little off topic but I was just wondering if you've noticed an increase in Knife Zealots and their solo attitude?
You aren't wrong though. Assail locks you out of one of the best nodes (5% cooldown on elite/special kill) doesn't kill armor, and needs several other nodes to do reasonable damage. The extra warp damage nodes are useless for gun-psyker, but are helpful if you are using a staff. Empowered Psionics is a meme of a key stone though, both of the other 2 are much more impactful, but Empowered is fun if you want a Roleplay build.
@@zacattack32441 I've only ever used EPsi for smite builds. It not only melts hordes but holds the elites in place for your team. Assail would be more useful if the ADS shard was chargeable and armour piercing. Imagine a fully charged assail as a spear!
I like your build. But what I want to ask is "charged up" When I used this build, with assail in almost every fight, the Empowered stack in most situations never gets to 3. This is because I shoot assail in every one Empowered stack. Is Warp psionic better off in this situation? I'm sorry for my poor English. I'm not good at it.
I'd love to build this, but it feels like the Surge blessing is a pre-requisite for a lot of the Psyker builds, including this... but it's T4, which is subject to some insane RNG taxes and as a new player I just don't have it. :(
Struggling with the duelling swords ( only lvl 20). Doesn’t seem to hurt armour/ unyielding at all. Is it heavy attacks only for them as light doesn’t seems to do much. Is the special attack useful?
It's not an ideal build for a psyker. Surge Force staff is far more superior ranged weapon which is easy to kill enemies with without missing your shots. I rarely go for Seer's Presence because it's not worth it. It's better to get the 5% extra critical chance which you are more likely to find useful than being able to deploy the shield 10% faster and you are more useful to your team as they also benefit from it and can clear enemies faster alongside you. To deal with Peril, I simply go for being able to quell 30% faster which is better than me having a guaranteed crit because you can easily avoid going over your peril and imagine it as if you can also deal an extra 30% more damage by being able to use your warp attacks faster. Overall, I would rate your build 3 out of 5 as I don't see players often use a similar build like yours, as there are better alternative builds that can outperform it.
