I was gifted a silhouette cameo over a year ago and I kid you not, it is still in the box. I have a background in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator but found these machines super intimidating. This introductory tutorial was incredibly helpful and now I'm so excited to rip open that box and try this thing out!!!
I’m so glad I’m not the only one mine was out of the box for a year With me just staring at it instead of getting to work on it and now that I found these videos I’ve started trying to do some things on it
Awesome ! Thanks for your generosity and clear instructions. Straight to the point without talking about your personal life... that are so abundant on YT !
I love when Im looking for a quick specific tutorial and the RU-vid launches into a 20 minute explanation about deworming the dog they rescued last week. Everyone knows, people are watching these videos because they're trying to kill time. Not like we're trying to problem solve for a project we're working on or anything lol.
I have abandoned my 15 year relationship with the other cutting machine company due to constant web-based down times, glitches, purchasing and business practices etc., and picked up my first Silhouette Cameo 4 today! I was waiting for over a year to get the 24" inch version, but it looks like it won't be in stock for a long time to come, so I settled for a 12" red Cameo 4, for now. Your video was the first video I have clicked on to learn the Studio version of the software, and I am very happy you took all the scare out of using it. It is so robust compared to what I was dealing with. I am a 25 year computer career technical engineer trained primarily in UNIX, so I am up and flying with this software because of your great tutorial answering the basics, THANK YOU!!!!
This was my first official Silhouette studio tutorial and I'm soooo glad I clicked your video!! Simple, helpful and great introduction to get me going! Woohoo!!!!
I'm so happy to hear that Abiola! It can be overwhelming when you first start out, but we have tons of great videos that you can watch! Good luck and remember to start with something small and easy!
I've had my cameo 4 for a year and I've not used it one time! The software overwhelmed me and I put it all up for the last year! I've got it out again, trying again!
I’m in the same boat as y’all!! I’ve been terrified to take mine out of the box, since Christmas 2019!! 🥴 so, THANK YOU for explaining things so well, I am going to unbox it immediately!! 😁
I have been so afraid of my silhoutte cameo 4 and have only tried to use it once. This is a clear, concise and easy to follow tutorial. Thank you so much !
I just purchased my first cutting machine… I’ve watched a ton of videos on the Cameo, Cricut & Brother machines…. I felt that the Cameo 4 Plus just fits my needs on what I want to be able to do … I’m so lucky to have stumbled across your channel…. I subscribed to your channel & so looking forward to opening up my new Cameo & getting started … thank you so much for the tutorial and I’ll definitely be watching your channel as a continuous reference while learning all the features & capabilities of this unit … I’m going to go ahead & purchase the Business edition that way I’ll already have the full capability of what the software can provide
This is an awesome tutorial! I have had my Silhouette for almost a year - have tried using it, but was intimidated by the software. Now that I watched your video and have a better understanding, I am ready to start creating great things! Thank you for putting this out there for all of us newbies!
This is by far one of the best tutorials out there! Thank you for making such an informative video without all the extra unnecessary talking like in other tutorials.
I know bedc not here now but that section on fonts & the glyphs being on board silhouette? Game changer! I’m in bed at 11.30 at night and I had to get up to go check if it was for real! Thanks for the heads up.
Great video, thank you so much. I already have a Scan N Cut, so used to some of the basics. I have tried this morning to upgrade to the Business one, but I can't find my Licence key. I'm in the UK and bought the machine from GM Crafts, so will contact them tomorrow. I have already ruined one mat by leaving vinyl on overnight and then washing the mat (won't be doing that again). I'm a seamstress by profession and have worked with centimetres ever since the 90's when I used to teach pattern cutting at Bournville College, so I really struggle now with inches. I have searched but can't find a way of changing the units from inches to centimetres. I have now watched a few of your videos and will work through them. I also do decoupage and a couple of the pages I belong to have asked me if I would make vinyl words for members, so I think I might have already mastered this bit. Thanks again - your videos are not only educational, but you really are easy listening xxx
I wonder if I am the only one that was so overwhelmed by the software and the set up of the machine tells. you to get to know it first , that I have had my silhouette cameo 4 for a year and a couple months before I even turned it on. this is a great video and I am a plus member of design bundles so I totally get how wonderful their licensing is and all the wonderful freebies and plus credits you get. to me its where I get most of my images and designs. I am glad I found you. Thank you
Omg. This video help me a lot.. I’m new using cameo.. and this video make it super easy.. thanks for your help. I really appreciate it 🙏🏻 god bless you
A fb group told me to check you out and am I grateful! I have an old shilouette portrait with design studio and am just getting started. Your tutorial is so clear and your voice so calming I will probably watch this three more times while sitting at my computer to practice each step. Thank you, thank you!
I wanted to thank you! I just bought my Cameo 4 Plus and just gave up last night, I was very frustrated with the program & the not knowing what did what. This video helped me so much. Thank you for this beginners guide.
Let me just say that I am only on min 12 of this video & have already learned so much that I needed to pause just to comment. I have had this machine for years & it has just been collecting dust. I am swear by my Cricut Maker and am pretty good on it. I had a total of three Cricuts but sold two of them & purchased Silhouette. It has been hard to learn how to use the software, but your video has made it a little easier to understand. I just might try to use it today
Yay, I'm so glad we were able to help! I have found that crafting is a continuous learning process and it sounds like you are on the right track! Keep it going! ---Becky
OMG...I am a newbie, this video was MOST HELPFUL. I have reviewed MANY tutorials, but yours had been one of the Best if not the Best. Thank YOU soooo much!
New Subscriber ! I just bought my silhouette cameo 4. I was looking on so many pages and yours just made the decision easier, now i can’t stop watching your videos ! ❤️
Thank you so much, I have the pro and haven't used it yet. Before using this beautiful piece of machinery I really want to master the software. Wish me luck. Once again thanks so much.
After watching many of your videos, I finally upgraded my Cricut air to a Cameo. I had so many frustrations with DS and many times just created my things in illustrator or photoshop. The Silhouette software reminds me so much of Illustrator that I think I’ll like it better.
Thank you so much for your kind words!! I hope this video was able to help! If you have any questions, please let us know 🙂 - We are here if you need us - Dawn
Thank you thank you thank you!!! I’ve been using cricut because this machine was so intimidating so it’s just been sitting here! Cricut went out so I had no choice but to figure this out, I was following along with the video and I’m so excited to learn more with this software!!!! I’m in love with the offset!!!!!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I am thinking about purchasing the cameo 4 and I've never done anything like this before. I downloaded the software, but thanks to this tutorial I don't feel so overwhelmed
Great tutorial!!! Seeing comments of people having their cameo in the box still for a long time made me feel so much better because mine is still in its box from last christmas because I’m so intimidated to use it!!! Lol I will be trying now though!! 😅
Thank you for this. I’m a bit overwhelmed so I will have to look at lots of videos. I was given a silhouette sd and loaded the software before Christmas but that’s all.
It definitely is a lot of information, Silhouette Studio has a lot of awesome features! Definitely come back and pay us a visit when you need a refresher! Thanks for watching! ---Becky
Hey Renee! Don't stress, you are right that practice makes perfect! There can be a steep learning curve to Silhouette Studio but if you keep working you way through it, you'll get the hang of it, I'm sure! Let me know if you have questions and I'll answer the best I can! ---Becky
Excellent video, thank you. Do you have any videos about the cutter and setting it up to the right depth? We are having issues with it tearing up the stickers making them un usable. Thanks again for making these.
Madam Becky , You are an amazing person Thank you so much for all ur tutorials, I had my notebook way b4 u said it. Am still confused btwn getting a Silhouette Cameo or cricut. GOD BLESS YOU
Congratulations on your Cameo 4, how exciting! Glad you enjoyed the video, be sure to check out the others on our channel to help you along your journey! -Becky
Oh my goodness, this is such a brilliant tutorial, thank you. I just got my cameo 4 delivered this afternoon and your video has been brilliant for helping me get started. Love the t-shirt
I bought a cameo 3 months ago, i have been to afraid to open it because so many different showings. Next day I set it up was on FaceTime with my daughter still could not get it to do anything I spent 4 hours trying to get this thing to work. I was so close to throwing it out the door.. so I’m going to take this video go sit in front of my cameo and see how far i can get today. Tfs

That was truly a great tutorial, Thanks! I am just a beginner who hasn't used a machine yet. I have an early model Portrait (one with blue writing on it) my hubby got me a Portrait back sometime around 2016-2017??? Lost track of time because we moved house a lot, and I got very sick in later 2016.
Hey Michele! While I'm sorry to hear about your illness, I'm very glad you are back on the Silhouette train and ready to get started! Believe it or not, I still have my original Portrait too! I have the little family here and I love each and every machine! You are going to have a great time, the Silhouette family is wonderful, but I am really partial to my original machines! -Becky
Great tutorial video you had here! Thank you so much! 👍😊😍I just had my Silhouette software downloaded for my start-up Printing Business though I still haven't purchased a Cameo4 ( one of my goals this year) I will click save this to watch over and over again. Thank you so much! 🤗🤗 #NewSubscriberHere
Great video. I have a cameo 3 that's been sitting in the box for 5 years, as it's been a bit overwhelming to sit down and learn it. This video has taught me a lot, although I'm still unclear about one thing. Thanks for doing this!
I would love to give you a thumbs up but this is suppose to be for "beginners" and you are moving through each technique so fast it is incredibly hard to keep up even with rewinding. A few things would help; changing your mouse arrow to something that catches the eye a lot more; letting us know exactly what you doing as you are clicking on the option, right click left click etc as much detail as possible. Also please be more specific when going back and forth as you were doing at about 17:18 when teaching about the glyphs, I couldn't get my system to do anything close to what you did. I do appreciate your time and I will watch more videos, THANK YOU!
This was a FANTASTIC video! I’m trying to learn the software for my glowforge that’s coming soon, and this helped a lot! I am familiar with designing apps, specifically design space for cricuting and procreate, but I’m excited to learn this software as well. Thanks so much!
Where would you look for sizing guides for different clothing sizes and styles? Like shirts, onesies or sweatpants? Would I ask the manufacturers or whom ever I buy the apparel from? This video was so very helpful! I’m thinking of getting the portrait 3 so this gives me help getting used to the software before I even buy!
