Just catching up after our travels - we loved the food on Princess - Sabatinis was great and we were lucky to be able To have breakfast there every day as we had suite. Great food all round though.
Congratulations on reaching 10k subscribers, so well deserved after all the hard work you put into the channel. Sabatini's is always great value, so glad to see you recovered from the Salty Dog let down, no way that's worth the upcharge (even if it's included in your Premier package). Hope you raised your complaints with the manager as that level of service & quality is absolutely unacceptable.
Thank you so much, and for being such an active part of our community too. Salty Dog is not one we'd be rushing back to again on the next Princess cruise, we didn't raise it at the time, as the manager was absent when we came to leave, but we did put a lengthy comment on the post-cruise questionnaire.
Your experience on the Ruby is consistent with my voyage on her sister ship in February. I think I am still waiting on drink service in the Salty Dog Gastropub. Sabatini’s was the stand-out, in an unimpressive field of choices. I missed Alfredo’s/Gigi’s too!
Thank You For Sharing. We Have Been On 27 Princess Cruises And Unfortunately Their Casual And Specialty Dining Is Inconsistent Some Great And Not So Great. The One Constant On All Of Our Princess Cruises Is The Fantastic Hard Working Crew Members.
I think Crab Shack is fleet-wide now as it was a pop-up on our Panama Canal Cruise on Emerald Princess this April, albeit in part of the buffet area. We found the Salty Dog Gastropub on Emerald Princess to be excellent - slow service but the food was a massive surprise and totally fabulous. Sabatinis on the other hand had appalling service and the food was average at best. I can cook better Italian than that and it absolutley wasn't worth the upcharge. The Crown Grill however was superb. We ate there twice and it was stunning both times. Just goes to show different ships and different palettes....
Thanks David, really interesting that they are doing Crab Shack in the buffet on occasion on Panama too. Is it still a pay extra area of the buffet? It is always frustrating how the same venues can be massively different on different ships, quality and service wise. We've seen the same on P&O in particular with The Beach House being terrible on some (menu , quality and service) and great on others, as well as others reporting Sindu (Indian restaurant), which is one of our favourites being awful on some ships.
Thanks for the video. We were just on the Ruby Princess for an Alaska tour. Sadly Sabatini's was the worst experience of the cruise for us. Service was horrible - waiter ignored us and got mad when we asked for a wine menu, had questions on the menu, etc. Literally walked away as we asked questions. :(
Wow Tyler, it just goes to show how things can alter, not just from ship to ship, but cruise to cruise on the same ship. That was such a complete difference to our experience, and what a different one person (waiter) can make to an experience.
My partner and I have sailed on the Ruby Princess twice over the last few years. Our experience with the quality and value of the food was inconsistent in both the Crown Grill and Sabatini’s. I’m hopeful that your positive experience means they’ve made some improvements since then
Never tried the Salty Dog, but I guess I'm not missing much! I did like the old "pub lunch" they used to offer on the occasional sea day. We booked the hot pot restaurant for our next cruise, and are looking forward to trying something new!
It is definitely one we wouldn't be recommending you go out of your way to try Betty, even if you have the plus or premier package. Hot Pot is supposed to be absolutely fantastic (we are assuming you are heading on Sun), have an amazing time. Linzi & Mark
I would also like to congratulate you two on reaching 10k in subscribers. I know this is unlike you two, but why don't you have a cocktail to celebrate. Cheers
Thank you Richard. We both thought it was strange that Salmon was an extra charge, especially as a fish option (usually salmon) is available on most cruise ship steak houses. It was very tasty though.
Hi David, Sorry you are having issues still? We did alter the sound editing several videos ago, and stopped the far panning across them. We test the videos on every device we can for sound and video compatibility before publishing now, and cannot replicate any bit of you not being able to hear either of us, Linzi or Mark. Can we check what are you watching and listening to us on? We've checked with others this morning from our Facebook group and no one seems to have had any issues hearing Mark on this video? Thanks Linzi & Mark
@@SuiteNatured Omg, I'm the idiot here! You have your voices coming out in stereo - yours comes out one speaker and his the other. I only had one speaker turned on! 🤣 Now that I have both speakers on you guys sound lovely! LMAO!
We love to try as many different things as we can onboard Rex. To be fair to this ship, we ate more in the main dining room than any other in the past few years. We were in a reserve collection mini-suite (won on the bid upgrade) and the service in there was fantastic. So while it might look like we eat in speciality dining a lot, out of a possible 21 meals, we only ate 4 in speciality dining.
