I am at Medjugorje now. Totally agree we need to be BOLD sharing our faith. I will share when I get home! I will meet much push back from family and friends . I run into people who have left the Church after going to Catholic school who tell me that they left because they found Jesus. So, I ask, " Who were you talking to during daily prayer everyday?" " I can't believe you want to deny the Blessed Mother!" and " If the original isn't true, none of them are true" and "Bible Alone churches deny the Holy Spirit in every generation as promised." I think some want more of a social club or don't want the prejudice that comes with being Catholic or the discipline of going to Mass each week or not using artificial birth control. The priest scandals and closing the churches during Covid hurt many, too. I tell them," Over 95% of our priests were never guilty or accused." " I know priests who died of Covid or were in intensive care for months" My Pastor used to say the church is for WORSHIP and the patio and hall are for social. We have 2000+ years of goodness and people's personal sacrifice while some churches were founded after I was born! I am older than their church! GBY

I am not a Roman Catholic but a reformed Christian and I still want to thank you for this message Pastor Goring. Although the woman in your story had an Evangelical background, I feel like this message relates to me and perhaps the situation of many Christians in Western society. At times, we feel a concern that we will be accused of pushing our faith down people's throat. We don't want to be admonished or feel awkward when the culture depicts us as ignorant weirdos of Jesus freaks (the latter of which I am not too against haha because I love Jesus and I am proud of it). This is a great call to be bold in our faith and let the chips fall where they may upon sharing the good news of our salvation through Christ. Actually where Catholics make the mistake is they try to present a Church when we need to begin by sharing Jesus first

I live my faith. If someone asks why I am calm and joyful I tell them. I truly believe attraction is much stronger than promotion. Oh yes, nothing more aggravating than a evangelist telling me I have it wrong we don’t believe or read the scriptures. I then invite them to Mass and they will find we do read and preach the scriptures and we do have something they don’t the liturgy.

He sent me to give the good news to the poor,tell prisoners that they’re not prisoners no more,tell blind people that they can see and set the downtrodden free, and Go tell EVERYONE the news that the kingdom of God has come and go tell EVERYONE the news that God’s kingdom has come. I use the beach analagy about my own faith,how I used to just get my feet wet,(just going to mass on Sunday not praying at home) now I pray daily, Holy Rosary and litanies and more go to mass 3 timed weekly,the adoration twice weekly and am asking God for more,now I'm swimming into deeper water and loving it. I feel that maybe the prayers for the coworkers from the one person probably opened the hearts and then the Lord sent the fire to complete conversions! God utilizes all of us for His purpose.

It's hard to be bold when our hierarchy doesn't even know what the church is or what she teaches, contradicting everything and anything we might say. Differ with a priest or maybe even a bishop and your belittled by fellow parishioners, friends, and family because they idolize even wayword clergy out of ignorance. Embarrassed by the hierarchy's inconsistency, misrepresenting, and in so many cases evil behavior. Being bold works IF you don't do it as a Catholic, but as a simple lover of Christ, the church is a wreck. Only high profile individuals get to be "bold".

True. "Holy foolishness" among the catholics and enthusiastic preaching from the Priests especially during the Eucharist are what missing in the catholic church. In majority Catholic countries, like the Philippines ,the born again christian denominations are increasing not only because of their fire and boldness but also their clarity in preaching. They consider the catholic church as their "mission field."

I think you should have said yes you believed in God! I went 8 years to Catholic school and my parents didn’t want to pay for tuition to Catholic high school so they made me go to public school and I had several neighbors who were Baptists and they always attacked me for being Catholic so I had to defend my faith all the time. I even helped a girl from high school learn about being a Catholic, she took instructions and she joined and I was her Baptism Sponsor. Sounds like I did better than a priest did. I’m surprised you admit you acted like Peter almost, you were afraid and you almost were denying Him. I think boys worry too much about😅 what the guys will think of them. I knew I was different and I had to defend being a Catholic a lot! The Protestant Preachers spent a lot of time criticizing Catholics and our priest never said anything bad about others, that’s how I knew I was in the right place plus I had been taught by the Benedictine Nuns very well. I knew about Bible History and about when some people didn’t like the teachings because they wanted to do things differently so they started new churches and I knew Catholic was first and the only for a very long time before the Protestants came to be.

Excellent practical stool for world mission sunday 22 oct. Pope Francis said that coming to know Jesus through the scriptures and the Eucharist should fill Catholics with enthusiasm to joyfully share the Gospel with others. What the world needs is the love of God, to encounter Christ and believe in Him. The theme the Pope chose for 2023 celebration is Hearts on fire,feet on the move,which he said was inspired by the story of Jesus and the disciples on the road to Emmaus after the resurrection.

God is the coolest person ever. Those who don't want to hear about God are the uncool ones 😁

I just had this experience this morning at Sunday mass. I'm a superannuated catechumen, technically not yet even a Christian since I' still pounding on the doors of the baptistry to let me in [since last Lent], yet last week I had this encounter with a colleague at work who I have known for years, somehow it slips out that I am in this conversion process, he then offers me his really rather bad advice about the Catholic Church - as a rather fallen Catholic himself. It was very funny, I just gave him the look of slight disdain and mentioned, "I haven't seen you at mass." He counters that he was once an altar boy and makes some more poor excuses. I give him a slightly elevated look of disdain. My colleague gives some more excuses about how things with the Catholic religion *really* work and how he and Jesus have an "understanding." I give my colleague the hairy eyeball and leave it at that. That Sunday morning there he was, with his brother, at mass a couple of rows ahead of me. What exactly that means we will only know in the coming weeks and months and years as is exactly the case the the so-called-evangelical converts described in this video. If only Catholics could reliably retrieve the Catholics who do not go to mass and who were much like Fr. Goring was when he was still an adolescent and fully rekindle their own Catholic faith, the world would be a much different place. And better. Technically I am not even a Christian yet and this stuff actually works. God is an eternal process outside of time and history, we as mere humans are still contained within a temporal process, the process of human alignment to an eternal process cannot be reduced to a single temporal act of will or grace - it is something that ultimately becomes *you* throughout your life and for all eternity.

Yes, but the small Faith expressions of the Catholic Lady can be more effective than the Protestant screeming around thing due to the works of the Holy Spirit also. God uses any of Our expressions of Faith to reach other peoples' hearts. But it is true that especially vulnerable people like drug addicts, alcoholics, homeless and lonely fellows etc need more Faith support than others. And Protestants ran around energetically to give them that. But we don't. So we should improve this aspect of giving support and Faith to the humble people.

A Catholic Christian doesn't care about mockery, attacks and insults. he remains focus on the Word made flesh. He knows the person of Jesus Christ very well. He does not doubt or confused because he knows the Gospel and the teachings of the Church well. He knows how to detect the Word in the midst of words. He is focus on Faith, Hope and Charity and on the Holy Cross.

"I preach the Gospel, and sometimes I use words" I hate it when Catholics,Christian's say that saying that is falsely attributed to St. Francis. What it means is that they are too embarrassed or too afraid to share who our Lord is. Faith comes by hearing the gospel.

Agree, but we can’t share what we don’t know. The Catholic Church has got to educate it’s followers! Our Protestant brothers and sisters do a great job of educating their parishioners, along with bible study. Catholics are fed a 5 minute sermon every week. Catholics are starving in the faith! The Catholic Church claims to have the ‘fullness’ of faith, but it’s people have been starving since Vatican II.

Yes father Mark, other religions don’t acknowledge Catholics as Christians for some reason. In my experience with people from other religions, they think we believe in other things that are against the Bible. (the Virgen Mary, the Saints, the Rosary and prayers, the cross I wear, candles to the saints) I feel like why do they care? I have never heard a priest in church talking bad about other religions. God and Jesus are my priority in my believe. The Saints and the Virgen were good models to remember on this planet.

I have a super hard time approaching either those I don't know very well about anything, or those I do know well but the topic is "unusual". And if I do, it never works the way it works for the extroverts. And if the topic is controversial, it usually ends badly. And it's not even about Jesus. I don't even want to jump into the ocean and have fun there, not only because of fear, but I'm also not interested in such things. I speak little even at home. I'll never be one like Fr. Mark speaks about. Probably even if it was a second Pentecost for me, I doubt that the apostles were so shy and extremely introverted people and the Holy Spirit totally changed their personalities. I don't even think God made me like this and wants me to become an extrovert, even regarding Jesus. But, I admit, it should improve a few notches in one way or another. But I'm not sure how to go about this, except for praying. It's a completely different business for extroverts, who just happen to have some block regarding evangelizing, and for extreme introverts.

I love hearing that. I don’t think I’m a perfect person. But I do believe in God, our heavenly father and his son, Jesus Christ. I’ve had so many wondrous little miracles in my life what kills me about people who hate Christians, is that they’ll never get those little beautiful experiences or have that close association with this Holy Spirit or our Savior Jesus Christ!

I pass out Divine Mercy prayer cards when I go thru Starbucks. I have given people Mother of All Peoples prayer cards to people from Dr Mark Miraveli… one Presbyterian gave it back to me and said “ She’s not my mother” I said yes she is she is the Mother of Jesus… I didn’t want to argue with him he’s pretty obstinate. Anyway that’s the little bit I do. I’ve given out a few rosaries also. Father Mark is a great evangelist as is Father Mike Schmitz encouraging young people to stay try to the faith.
