The way to think about the ring tempting on creatures is that the ring tempts everyone that it comes into contact with. Some, like Boromir, struggle to resist the temptation. Others, like Gandalf and Galadriel, recognize the risk should they fall to temptation so they use various means to resist it (Gandalf just pushes the ring onto people with less power such that if they fall the world's not screwed, Galadriel scares Frodo with the fallout of what would happen should she become the Dark Mistress of the ring). So the Mirrormere Guardian is just a representation of someone who may have come into contact with the ring at one point or another and have been tempted by it.

But the Rohirrim and the Huorns never come into contact with the ring. And Tom Bombadil is explicitly, in the text, ring-tempting-proof. It's not that he overcomes it, it has no hold on him at all.

Took a draft 0-2 and used your advice. Stop and assessed myself. I was playing ubr, no fixing. Then i asked myself the question you usually ask why would i play that. And there was no reason to be red so i just did blue black and went 0-2 to 4-3

I think Jim doesn't realize Nazgul grows with ring tempting, that's why opponents trade with it so often.

This set plays like a better AFR. Tempted By The Ring is basically just a simplified Enter The Dungeon. There are definitely some nasty bombs though. Thankfully, the only couple wraths I've seen aren't auto win cards which always makes for a better limited experience IMO. Also....Shadowfax sure showed you the meaning of haste! 😂

Love the deckbuilding thoughts, and hearing how you weigh each card against each other as you finalise the 40. 3 colour always feels scary to me, as getting mana screwed is so costly. But when it pays off, it's great to play 3 different colour pair legends in 3 consecutive turns.

Jim pivoted to green in pack 2 and never saw a good green card go later than pick 5 again. It was seemingly the only color that more than one other person at the table was drafting. They certainly weren't taking blue.

Green was a trap, the red black deck was the way to go. Two drafts now where non-prioritisation of the ring effects have not worked out. Really tricky set, simple but deceiving

I've asked this before, but Jim, do you have a reading problem like dyslexia? this is not an insult, I just notice a consistency with things like the Palantir of Orthanc where you mispronounce the name or have trouble intuiting the layout of words, and was wondering if it was an actual medical thing. I love your content, it's just something I've noticed and was curious about.

I think calling the marauder a bad card and unplayable in any format is just incorrect. I've seen many games where the player had the marauder as their ring bearer and then it's getting in as a 1/1 double strike every turn, hitting the opponent twice so generating its own ability twice. It's monster card advantage and as the ring bearer he's very hard to block. If it were just a 1/1 without the double strike, it would still be hard to block but not nearly as hard. It also turns on all of your orcs and goblins to generate a ton of card advantage, which red wants to desperately. The marauder can get completely out of hand extremely quickly and until you've seen it, calling it a bad card is incorrect. Just my humble opinion though. EDIT: Also, 1:03:19 playing Gimli pre combat would not have won them the game, as none of your creatures died that turn. The reprieve and Shadowfax plus 3/3 play was insane and you'll probably lose this game just on that, but the Gimli didn't change anything.

I've heard you use this term about cube very often you say mechanics can be very parasitic 2 limited environments about 10 drops in myself I feel this format is very parasitic.
