Sony speakers specializes more on clear vocals and with genres like rock, metal, alternative and specially jazz music (genres that's not BASS HEAVY) they also sound great with live acoustics/performances. JBL speakers on the other hand sounds the greatest for genres with techno, hip hop, disco etc and its deep/boomy bass is proof enough. But as i've heard it definitely beats sony on bass and overall loundness.
Better Vibes from the JBL Partybox 100. The mids and highs sound suppressed on the Sony XP500 and I'm still trying to figure out what's mega about the bass.
I have a party box 100. it has been more than 3 months. Trust me it's the best speaker in this segment. I just love the sound seperation of it.. The lows, mids and highs are fabulous
The big flaw of the JBL is that there is no way to adjust the sound signature through EQs as in most phones now a days EQ do not work over bluetooth. So you have to literally wire your phone to use the EQ of your phone's music app. But Sony allows EQ adjustments with their proprietary app which is very important to me. And if I have to listen to music inside my home, my living room or bed room I guess it's loud enough. Please let us know?? Also let us know if there is any way to make EQs of your phone app work with the JBL speaker over bluetooth?? If yes, may be I will buy the JBL instead of the Sony. Please share your thoughts.
Hola!
Yep, i was right jbl wins hand down. What the heck is wrong with Sony? Glad that i own the pb 100. I have no complaints and i won't be buying the sony.😥
The sound quality Sony got pretty close to JBL. However, when it comes to loudness, JBL just dominates. I agree, Sony seriously needs to up their game.
@@itsemery1030 power output on the Sony is double with plugged into an outlet per the specs on Sony Japan webpage. For some reason they don't publish output power on US Sony site.
@@BrianNC81 Good to know. Having more power output on a speaker when plugged in really gives it more volume, I'm sure with the Sony plugged in, they would actually have a pretty good fight against each other.
watching this on my sony mhc v13🤣🤣and definetly the bass is more heavy on jbl... even tho i am listening on a sony speaker, i find the bass to be more on jbl😅nice vid...
Sony is actually doing better with these new releases. They evolved out of that 100hz bass that they're used to be. Though JBL still beats it in loudness for bass. Actually loudness overall based on this video.
@DJ WRAITH well.. differentiating the XB's vs. the XP's gives me the idea of improvement from them. They are still getting better each time. But they don't have any chance with most of the other competitors. Positively speaking, i like how they're improving as time flies.
I ended up going with the XB700 for my outdoor back deck/fire pit/garage speaker. I like that you can use it in a horizontal orientation and get better stereo separation (this is the way I use it most of the time). I mostly listen to classic rock, modern rock, county, and instrumental music and the Sony sounds great playing these genres. The volume the XB700 cranks out is incredible, especially when plugged into an outlet you get a solid 20% or maybe 25% boost. Even on running it on battery and living on an acre of land, more than 1/2 volume approaches loudness levels that would greatly disturb the neighborhood. If the PB310 featured stereo separation in a horizontal position, I might have went that route since I've had great luck with all my other JBL speakers and commercial amplifiers. The PB300 had stereo feature horizontally positioned with 3rd tweeter but they got rid of it with the 310 and only have two tweeters up top.
Thats a valid point, but still I wouldn't choose the sony just because of the stereo separation. You listen to this speakers from a fair bit of distance if you have them playing loud so the stereo becomes much less aparent, and the bass of the pb310 is sooo much important for me at least. I heard both on a store and there was no comparison, the pb310 literally shaked the walls and stands of the store! It was AMAZING, I want one now.
@@evaristocorripio5434 I like bass as well and have a pretty big setup in the house with two 15" subs powered by commercial crown by JBL amps (1050w RMS each sub). I just don't need it to be too crazy outdoors with neighbors around. We live on an acre and even the Sony at half volume can be heard from a good distance.
@@BrianNC81 if you already have a nice setup indoors then I understand haha! Since I only have a jbl boombox and thats it, the pb310 would be a big improvement, I just didn't believe the amount of deep bass coming from the speaker. But I can imagine that its not even remotely close to your setup!
@@evaristocorripio5434 it's pretty overkill but I like it, bass is powerful enough to kick you in the chest like the feeling you get from sitting close to the subs at a concert.
Every time I see this videos I am glad I bought my Party Box 100. Regretfully right now the 110 is a little big expensive comparing the price of the 100 last year ,let's wait for the review
Sound test in store….XP500 sounds way better. Fellow listeners agree. How is this? Bass sounds stronger too. How can this be? You are correct about lower volume. Its still plenty loud for an indoor area.
sony has alot more for clean vocals and mids *but starts laughing hysterically when entering it's final form* JBL is more for the tough guys out there who want bass *definitely for me*
Hmm I went in to best buy and heard both speakers. The Sony speaker sounded just like the jbl he's comparing, it was loud!. In fact, the Sony speaker in my opinion, sounded much nicer than the jbl.
Strangely, if you edit the EQ on the old XB90 it definitely makes the XB90 louder overall. I still own my XB90 and prefer it and the PB300 over these new ones.
@@sergiominiarez6387 it's a fact, lol the XTREME 2 has a performance boost because it is an active speaker and has an amplifier. Not all speakers are active, most are passive. and as for "mario kart" I don't know if that's meant to be an insult or not, it's the wrong game anyway LOL
I heard the XP500 and the PB 100 at the store and to me the XP500 sounded much cleaner and clear with a nice deep base but not overkill. The PB 100 sounded like garbage overall with a thump. I want to make sure I research well because I like great bass but nothing beats clarity with the right amount of bass.
Very stupid decision, youre paying for a miles worse speaker. The jbl clearly is more powerful, has real bass while the sony is a toy. Sad that you made that decision haha
@DLXWillington great job with these reviews ... thanks ... keep it up ... little tip: 1) for films which one would you recommend? 2) for listening to music which one would you recommend? 3) better the JBL Party 100 or JBL Party 110?
Thank you for this awesome review. I wonder if you have replayed the same sound test whith both plugged into AC outlet. If so, does Sony bass has any improvement? Just a few other things maybe worht noting: - Sony has LDAC while JBL doesn't. Interest to know if this make any difference when playing WAV audio files on both. - For obscure reason, Sony limit usb flash to 2000 songs max (per owner's manual) while JBL doesn't state anything alike in their manual which I assume is limitless.
Well I'm not the guy who made this video but I can answer some of your questions. I have a Partybox 110 and my sister recently got a Sony XP500 for her birthday. I will be 100% honest with you, the Sony playing music running from its internal battery at max volume is like a partybox 110 playing music at 60% or maybe even less. Yes, it is that quiet.. I really don't know why Sony did this.. I can only think of one thing and it's for getting more hours playing music (very bad idea in my opinion), talking about LDAC my samsung s10 has that codec and well, sound quality is just good. I thought it was going to sound better than my pb but nope, It's just not at JBL level, bass is also not that great... (I didnt like it, it doesnt feel natural, like it feels so weird maybe its because my ears like JBL bass or H/K (I have one Aura Studio 3 too and that speaker blows the Sony away which is crazy for it's size). The only good thing I can think about the Sony is that when you connect it to main power outlet it boosts it's volume and then the difference is not so big vs the pb. But still! Even in that mode, JBL goes a bit higher at max volume, not by much though. So yeah. Kinda dissapointed with Sony because I'm a fan of the brand and the speaker looks dope and feels very premium. But I can't recommend you to buy it. (Or anyone who is reading this). When someone buys these type of bluetooth speakers (or at least me) It's for using it outdoors/portable mode, because thats the thing to be portable, right? If the XP500 had the volume output power when its in battery mode, as it is when its plugged in to A/C power then I would recommend it, but sadly it isnt the case. Cheers I hope Ive helped 👍
@@MB2kbps Thank you so much for your feedback. Per your input on ldac, watching similar reviews and no limits numbers of songs, will definitely go with PB for the time being. Will also get XP500 as well should Sony remove 2000 songs limits as I feel the vocal, mid and high sounds clearer on the XP500.
@@mcadutub Im glad I could help✌️the good call and safest bet is to go with Partybox, 110 or 100, believe me. Just the max volume issue itself from the XP500 makes the Sony speaker a bad choice in my opinion, its just too expensive for the little sound you get, even a no name brand generic $100 bluetooth speaker is louder than the XP500… If you dont like the sound profile from JBL and still want a Sony then I would recommend others, like the XP700, or the MHC series v72,v82,v90,etc. Also, dont get fooled by listening to speakers in videos because they DONT sound the same, go and try to test them in a real store in person, because let me be clear about this, sound quality (mids, highs and bass) is NOT even close vs. The 110. The JBL is just in another level, I know sound is a subjective thing but even my friends & family who tested both speakers agreed with me. And please, do not listen to youtubers who are paid by brands to review their products (willington is an exception because he always tells the truth and is very serious) but I have seen a lot of these videos from "trusted tech reviewers" saying things like the xp500 is great for big parties and has this "huge" filling sound with amazing bass and blah blah.. they are straight lying or they have not listened to a real PA loud speaker in their lives. I really dont know if they are just trolling people at this point.
Literally a Sony fan hahahaha. Sony always hard to beat The JBL in terms of bass and sound quality. In running at dc mode, JBL partybox 100 literally destroy the Sony Xp 500 max volume. JBL always the Sony destroyer as far as everything else;D
@@arcchannel6912 yes this partybox from sony have better highs but who tf will need at party highs XD on more portable speakers from jbl there is much more difference in sound quality
I was searching for the best buy for a partyspeaker. Everywhere jbl won. So I went to the store to buy a jbl 110 or 310. They had the new Sony on display so I wanted to compare them in real life. I ended up buying the Sony xp500 over the partybox. I was so surprised by the sound and bass. And I wanted bass over everything else. These vids are great and will help but my advice is to listen for yourself. There is much difference between plugged in and on battery. That is unfortunately. But still. Don't get fooled by the videos. They don't sound the same but not in terms of better.
Basically the JBL PB100 is the Daddy. New boys come and boast but in the end we still find the PB100 to be a better (nicer sounding, fuller, more open, deeper, etc.) speaker than the new guys. I have 2 PB100s and I enjoy their sound quite a lot. I've bumped up the treble by 3-4db after 10khz as I wanted more "zing". I will not change the PB100s for the new model as these give me exactly what I want.
@@johnluke5478 bruh RU-vid doesn't f it up that much if anything it's gonna be the mic that doesn't pick up the bass but since you hear it on the jbl you should definitely hear it on the sony if there is any, which there clearly wasn't.
sony have more clear sound when in my opinion(sony so weak in low bass part)😊😊but jbl have more bass(mind blowing low bass)😲😲and loud sound when reach 100 percent volume
5:59 ..... Hey man can you please please confirm this...... The frequency response Also is there any other portable party speaker with 20hz-20000khz frequency response range...in 2022
Listening with my home system with active sub.. 😁 Jbl sounds bigger with deep bass. Maybe the sony just needs a little tweaking with their music center app like the xb series.
Bass level 1 on jbl Partybox 100 beats mega bass ALOT and just so you know there is a second bass level for jbl pb 100 so it’ll get like 3x better bass
Just had at home Sony XP500 and JBL Partybox 110. Which one is better? The answer is simple : JBL Partybox 110 sounds like an annoying, big piece of loud garbage. Sony XP500 - sounds like a luxury speaker with an amazing balance, bass etc. If you want loud annoying party music, buy Partybox 110. If you want to listen to the music, buy Sony XP 500. Btw, this is my first ever youtube comment, 100% honest. Just don't understand how anyone would prefer JBL Partybox 110, over Sony XP500. This is like driving an old annoying and loud car (JBL Partyboox) or a luxury new car (XP500).
Probably an unpaid sony bot lol. Everything you wrote here is complete crap and bs, your'e the only one thinking like that. Sony is flat sounding, deep bass lacking piece of junk. While the jbl actually is so opened and powerful sounding. Clown
The JBL partybox 100 have better Bass Performance with no Distortion unlike the XB500 I can clearly hear Bass Distortion. so maybe there is a software update for the Sony XB500.
Bruh no distortion on jbl but distorted on the sony, idk what you been smoking but if anything it's the jbl that's distorting since it's the one that actually has bass
@@ĪĪMizumiĪĪ NO I DON'T DRINK SNORT OR SMOKE.. The Sony XB500 doesn't have enough value power it distorts a little bit when playing bass heavy tracks and yes I did hear Distortion from the XB500..
🚨😱Yo uso Mucic Center en otras bocinas, curiosamente en los ajustes se encuentra el ecualizador de 5 barras + Clear Bass 🤭 y también deja activar el ecualizador del reproductor del Celular
Feel like the jbl fans just praising jbl without technically breaking down the sound. They havent even heard the speakers side by side. id go with Sony between these 2. I like it when my sound sounds whole like it was mastered well/boujee the jbls sounds distorted. quality over quantity and the sony is still loud. I like the jbl when it comes to other comparisons like the flip 5 and the xb23.The bass boost is way sicker on the jbl though by miles
Jbl does not sound distorted at all, youre an example of someone who didnt listen to them side by side. This entire XP,XG,XE line up is a mega fail for sony, they are having 0 deep bass and only mids, muffled and covered. Sony is a fail.
Its clear that the jbl has more definition to the sound, the bass is richer and deeper, sounds brighter, will fill big spaces better and will be heard outdoors way better.
Hmm if you ain't a crazy audiophile who spends thousands on systems then sure but even then you can get some better systems for probably the same prices
