Jessi faces some hate in SK because of her style and the way she exudes Western/American-style sexiness in a relatively conservative country. The song was partially a response to these criticisms, hence the line "I ain't gotta be the one, be the one, just for you" - she's saying only God can judge her, she doesn't need to "the one" for everyone and she's fine by that. It's "X" in the title and song because SK wouldn't broadcast the song as much (if at all) if she actually used the word "bitch" Great video, lots of fun and loving seeing the love for Jessi ❤️ she's a queen for sure 👑

If you want to see her live, Jessi is performing at the MIK Festival in London on July 31. I think there are still tickets available if you're interested. The 31st is the hip hop day of the festival, all about Korean rappers. Other than Jessi you have Jay Park, ph-1, Loco, Gray, Epik High, Lee Hi, and Dok2 performing there.

The X is a korean stand-in for curse words usually, so she means bitch lol. she is adressing the conservative korean music industry and viewers who criticized her attitude. she is def a QUEEN and a role model for confidence and authenticity tbh. just watch her past interviews with stars! always a good time!✨👏

Hey! You seem to really like Jessi. I always find it interesting to look into artists past and see their life story. She has been in korean music business for years and has gone through a lot. She never really made it until a few years ago with the style and songs you've listened to. She debuted in 2005 as Jessia H.O (I would recommend her song "Life is good"). She also did a collaboration with Uptown, an old school hip hop group around that time. It would be fun if you looked them up as well, but I would recommend an older song called "Back to me" when Yoon Mirae was part of the group. She was later part of the group Lucky J and that's when I got to know who she was. The song I really liked from them is "No love". When it comes to her newer solo songs I quite like her slower songs without the flashy music videos like "Star" as well as "Want to be me".

Hey Teddy, I commented on your blackpink video, seems like you didn't like my suggestion, haha! All good. Just wondering if you would give Lisa a try? She is a member of BP but she does have some solo work. Her song "Money" went viral when Squid Game came out. It's a similar vibe to Jessi so I think you might enjoy it.
