I tried a NIBBI on my 1983 Honda XL600R and it only ran for minutes and destroyed my CDI. Could have just been to my CDI box being 40 years old, but was afraid to try the NIBBI on my new CDI box. Did get a standard coil to replace my original and it runs OK but would like a hotter spark for easier starting and better running, but not sure if the NIBBI would also destroy my current RICKS CDI. My CDI is AC, not DS, and one guy said the Nibbi is for 12V DC CDI boxes only. So, I am confused about this and will try contacting RICKS to see what coils are OK with the AC CDI box. The NIBBI was producing a hotter spark as I could tell this in testing. I never tested my new CDI box with the NIBBI. Please advise if you are aware of this problem of some coils taking out the AC type CDI box.
