If you're not careful, Gaijin will use the footage of your fight with the Brummbar as proof it's underperforming. After all, wasting half your ammo on one tank should be solely a British problem, obviously.
After slogging up to 5.3, I gave up on the Brits when I had 4 shattered APDS shells out of the 77mm on the Comet in one match. Literally the proverbial last straw.
The irony being that if these plates were overhardened the same way many of the T34 plates were then the armour would be the thing that shattered. *angry simpiet noises slowly getting louder* I gotta go...

Dude what are you talking about? Both the M18 and Jumbo are excellent vehicles and even the 76 Shermans are good if you know what you're doing. Oh and let's not forget both Jackson variants.
the french are the most schizo balanced tree I have ever seen, a couple of disgustingly good vehicles at low BR for their effectiveness surrounded by hordes of crap that is way over tiered. weirdest one by far when I played was the 4.3 AMX-13 with the FL-11 (98mm of pen IIRC). it was barely any better than an M24
@@fire_drake12.arc.24 there's literally no other way to balance besides statistical. What is your algorithm for determining a tank's "actual abilities" that doesn't use match results? That's right you don't have one. So that means your version is "just squint at a tank and balance it based on vague emotions". Which isn't balanced at all.
@@gavinjenkins899 it basically just means you need some qualitative judgements and not just quantitative. Data means nothing when you misinterpret it, which Gaijin seems to enjoy doing by being purely "statistical".
I just got a 16 kill 1 death game on fire arc in this. If this thing gets downtiered and you get to a defenceable position this thing is so easy to play its funny. Edit to add: i only died because by the end of the game they were all hiding in their spawn so i rushed them for the lols
lol the gun on this is too bad to be at 4,7 and the armor at this rank will be paper . the gun only have 80 mm of pen and at 4.7 it will face tiger 1 and panther ... dont make sense
@@TheJimyyy Most people that i’ve seen that have the vehicle in their service record have a 2kd ratio minimum and i’ve seen people with a 5kd ratio plus easily in the KV-1E. The armor on the KV-1E is 100mms everywhere, easy af to angle not to mention it’s spaced which helps it. After some thought 4.3 would definitely be a better br for it than 4.0 and 4.7.
@@sesameoil0009 i have it and is not invincible . i have around 3.5 kd ratio whit it and 75% win rate . if you down tier it will do very well but in a middle br game or down tier when you face 5.0 the armor is nothing most gun you face can pen it and angling it dont prevent you from dying it have weak spot and a good player will know them . and because the gun have only 88mm of pen you need be at close range and even there it have trouble to pen a lot of stuff . this tank cant even pen a sherman from the front when the sherman can
What i find interesting is that the B1 Bis (and especially TER) used to be in this exact situation. Big fat armor, but with a pretty weak gun. So, it was severely under tiered just like the KV1E. However, the B1 was up tiered by almost an entire BR, making it far less OP, and especially in uptiers when it struggle A LOT. Meanwhile, in Russia Land, the KV1E still sits at a very, very confortable BR. That does not seems fair to me tbh
but the B1's guns basically couldnt do shit. the KV-1's gun isnt really weak. Didnt see it struggle with anything that other tanks dont already struggle with. Yes its a Weak gun compared to some others but its usable. Similar to the US 75mm. It is no where near being a struggle bus like the 75mm is above 4.7.

As a Russian main i agree. Has a match on time, i literally bounced shots of 6 guys for 5 minutes after I spawn pushed them, managed to kill 2 before the match ended
It used to be higher right? Until gaijin decided all TD’s are under performing and lowered just about every TD. I guess it’s not new player friendly so they do not perform well in it. But any play that can figure out how to take advantage of its armour at such a low BR will do well in it.
@@corsairsofnarshaddaa I love sniping French heavy's with that early APDS. The B1's think "Nobody can stop me" and PING, PING, PING, back to hangar! The sloped Su-122 tends to bounce a lot though. I had that 45mm armor pen a 200 pen APCR with almost no angle. Stallinium. Only the finest.
I had a 2:1 kill ratio with this back when I didn't have a 2:1 ratio in ANYTHING. I probably would have quit WT if not for the KV1E. It was a great vehicle to go back and learn in when I had gotten all the way to 8.3 and was really struggling with everything and my play was awful.
I just go back and play my M22 at 9.0+ whenever that happens. It’s so much more fun when you’re not worrying about the consequences of dying and losing 10K per tank while only needing to get one kill to be successful. 20K, even after the nerfs, at a max price tag of 404 SL is a lot more rewarding to pull off. Especially since you have to be SO smart about it as you’re fighting vastly better opponents at the highest tiers of play.

I think a good comparison is the Black Prince: Same armour ~100mm on Turret front and sides KV-1 has better mobility (its backwards gear is nearly as good as the Black Prince's best forward gear) Gun is arguably better for its BR on the KV (it oneshots nearly everything it pens vs. Black Prince can pen nearly everything at most angles without doing big damage) I guess the KV-1 should be 2.0 BR lower.

The fact that they can describe this tank as under-performing is crazy. I explicitly remember a match from *months* ago like it was yesterday because our entire team was getting stomped by a single KV-1E and it wasn't until late-game that I managed to get a lucky shot on it.
I bet the F-4S underperforms too. Seems like about one every single match crashes on takeoff. Gotta bring the average down. Fact is though with a helmet mounted display, pulse doppler radar, and 4 to 6 sparrows, you shouldn’t have any trouble trading positive even against mig23s and F-16s.
they most likely refer to average player performance in the tank, but i honestly cant see how people perform bad in such a tank, even if the player using it sucks
It's just an objective fact, how can it be "Crazy"? Players who play it win > 50% of the time = underperforming. Just because someone with 20,000 hours or whatever like oddbawz can do super well in it doesn't mean the average player does.
T14: 4.7 with a 75mm cannon that has similar performance and less armor overall and a squishy turret KV-1E/B: 4.0 with frontal tiger armor, extra side plates that make it volumetric hell and a russian 76mm that has some Absurd shell normalization Seems Balanced to me
yes it is because the T14 players win more often at 4.7 than KV1Es do. How? Doesn't matter, they just do. Ask them. Stop winning so much if you want lower BR tanks.
Its funny bcz as a ground only player with 2000 hours play time, i still having hard time killing kv1e, losing 70 percent of time, now imagine a new player who just climbed to br 4 with sub 200 hours of experience facing this yhing lmfao

All Russian tanks underperform to gaijin unless the winrate is 80%. The poor KV-1E on thunderskill only has a 73% winrate with an average 5 kills per life, its in a pretty poor state to them.
I think that people are too confident when playing the KV-1E and gets kill due too it (that would show the tank under performing statistically). Ohh, and the usual fact that premium vehicles can be played by relatively new players of course.
buying a KV-1E is basically just buying to skip about a weak of regular gameplay. Its not hard to get to 4.0. The big jump in RP cost happens around 5.7

Even the basic KV-1 with L-11 is OP on it's BR. KV-1 ZiS-5 is 4.3 despite having less armour than KV-1E and they're saying such bullshit. Because what? They have data? What data? From new players that can't even see what's in front of them and buy premiums in which they die first?
I played this tank to get the required “adamant” awards. It did take a little bit of time, but I got there relatively quickly. This thing could definitely go to 4.3-4.7. It is a bit better now that all panzer 4 variants are below it, but I still got near 10 kill matches pretty consistently.

The ridiculousness of this tank aside, my god, those teammates at 14:00 ! They could have went to A and caught all the enemies in there from behind, but instead they pushed the spawn and died. I literally cringed watching them die while their team was bleeding tickets. Funnily enough, the other team actually did the same thing at the C cap and died too. This might be an unpopular opinion, but I think bad teams like this are just as bad of a problem as economy in this game, if not worse.
Thought I was alone with that issue, it always seems like as soon as you're winning, whole team decides: "we're winning, and that's cool, but what if we win just that little bit harder?" and instead completely throw the whole game :C.
I’m in two minds. I actually like the challenge of taking out a heavier target. It may be rewarded the same in game but the satisfaction is greater. If I wanted to play easy mode, we would all be in the same Sherman. Like fighting a glorious MAUS - could be the highlight on a battle (although the MAUS is done dirty by the high pen rounds).
but when everyone can grab a heavy tank, slap some bushes on it and destroy you, then the game stops being any fun at all. the kv1 spam is only getting worse
Fighting a tank duel against a Maus would be very fun if you were just fighting the Maus. But when you have to fight it like a f*cking dark souls boss or shadow of the colossus hunt and some asshole pops around the corner in a Puma and just shoots you in the face (instskilling you because bullsh*t) while you’re trying to get around beside it for the finishing blow, it’s just frustrating. I’d rather just bring my damn CEV and one shot the bitch to just get it over with.
@@caralho5237 don’t forget this applies to other vehicles. I mean the M4 105 was at 2.7, MENTAL!. A 5.0 hull against people with reserve tier tanks in there line up. Unfortunately it’s just the game - we either have to find the fun in it or move on to another game, lots of goodies out there. I love taking my 3.3 Achilles out when I see I’m against Russia and putting a few holes in an expensive KV1E 😆 For me the fun thing is it make you adapt - you see your against Russia, likely KV1E, you will likely need to flank a key point and take out a TD for your first vehicle but I appreciate I’m not the majority.
@@caralho5237 The KV-1E is no exception to that. The turret neck is an easy pen from the rear, and the sides have standard KV-1 armour in the area in the middle of the tracks. And if the KV-1E is facing Germany, like it does 90% of the time, their long 75mms cut through its armour like butter. It gets one shot by Pz.IVs easily.
I use it on tasks and events (do to its rank 3). Also if the Pz. IV H can be 3.7, and the M4A3 (105) 3.0, than i don't see problem with its being 4.0, true that if u wan to kill it your best bet is a TD with a powerful gun (no not the M10), that most players don't like to play do to their other limitations, but something for something... I would say teamplay as well but; What teamplay?

Damn the battle between 2 *UNDERPERFORMING* vehicles in the first game shows why both the Brum and 1E should go down in BR. The KV-1E especially is *UNDERPERFORMING* at the current BR as seen by the fact you actually got hit by shells that penetrated your armor a couple of times.
This thing is 4.0 and the T14 is 4.7... all because Gaijin balances purely based on outcomes. Guess I better go throw a couple hundred games in my T14. /s

Through controlled playtesting and educated analysis of objectively known characteristics of the vehicles, (or classes, characters, weapons, etc in other games,) but instead of changing the vehicles, (which would defeat the purpose of a simulation unless something is actually bugged,) War Thunder has to rely on varying "Battle Rating" for the matchmaker. There are so many obvious vehicles in this game that are undertiered due to poor play or overtiered due to good play. They are still bumping the R3 up every few months because of how absurd it was.
This thing is "underperforming" at 4.0 meanwhile the Churchil VII is fine at 4.7? With worse armour protection (any cannon above 55mm or so can pen you frontally 100% of the time) and a worse gun (102mm pen flat with solid shot but worse even at 30° than the KV1E gun and again SOLID SHOT)
If this thing is 4.0 the the jumbo should be 4.7, because they have about the same amount of pen and if anything the *KV-1E* has more amour but it’s not angled like the jumbo and has less mobility so that’s why the jumbo should be 4.7 instead of 5.3 because if this things going to be a jumbo but better amour at 4.0 instead of at least being 5.0. *tHeRe* *iS* *No* *RuSiAn* *BiAs* *iN* *wAr* *tHUnDeR.*
Bro just pulled off a 1 VS 4 against 2 PZ IV, a Brummbär, and swedish SPG, and in general defended A by himself, casually brushing off square on side shots from what probably is the most deadly canon for the BR, all that and he just lost 1 crew... Yeah obviously underpredorming...

Your team mates where not existent, and the poor Brummbars team mates contributed almost nothing, either being just absolutely clueless, or just not doing anything even though you where literally stationary, pinned to a tree, breach out and shooting at you using the panzer 4, which has a fantastic cannon.
Can you imagine playing a match with a four stack all using the KV-1E? You'd be unstoppable as long as you didn't stay close enough to allow for a CAS multi-kill.
All kinds of things can kill KV1Es, you should always have big strong bonk TDs in your lineup for just such an occasion. If a similarly skilled 4 squad on the other side all had marders, they could wipe them just as easily right back. Or any of the big HE things like the trumpet boi. These are all 1 tap lolpens. And yes slow and only a rifle caliber coax makes it very weak to cas

As a german main these things are the bane of my fucking existence. Almost every death for the past week has been to one of these guys. The flat front turret spots are protected by *gajin moments* too and only register 1/2 the time.
I literally just got done finishing the Calliope video and laughing at the "underperforming" jokes. I'm looking at my phone, the second the video ends, notification for this one pops up. I really wish I'd bought this thing during the last sale. I love the Russian 4.0 lineup, and this would round it out so perfectly. Also, it's just my favorite KV-1 in terms of looks.

Its ok at its own BR but in arcade its 4.3 (keep in mind I dont play realistic because bomb clickers,plane spam) if it goes to 4.7 that armor doesnt exist and pen is laughable. at 4.0 its easy but 4.3 in arcade good luck vs tigers, jumbos, vk... if you meet them

So here's something crazy I find if you play this game on xbox one right now and you turn off cross -played and try to load into a game takes about 10mins and go to a point and try not to die the game bugs out at the end and gives you like 100k to 400k silver lion I figured this out last night I was bored had nothing else to do

It baffles me how KV1E is "underperforming" when worst you can meet is some stray panthers (pardon - VK but thats almost panther, right? XD ) while Jumbo is "balanced" at 5.3 where everything you meet is pain even with APCR. Tiger at 5.3? great mobilty, great armor, great gun. What do you have on jumbo? great armor and great mobilty, yes. Gun tho? At this br not worth a dime. I am not saying KV1E should go to 5.3...but it definetely doesnt belong to 4.0 when it is just slightly worse than jumbo.
Well, this tank is kind of similar to the American Jumbo... Except, the low speed stabiliser and 15 mm of extra penetration (ou and 50 cals) the rest of the specs are basically very similar, so how the fuck that thing can be 4.0 and Jumbo 5.7?? It doesnt make sense to me at all. There are not really big differences between these two, still this KV-1E cannot face Panthers, Tigers and more importandly even King Tigers and Jagdtigers, where Jumbo is actually useless against...
Thank you OddBawZ for following through and doing this video to showcase how dumb the BR of this thing is, and you weren't even playing with it all bushed up.. The KV-1B is arguably more dumb as it doesn't get shot at by German guns.. But I guess when your KV-1E blows up you can just spawn the other KV-1 and T-34 tanks afterwards. The best way to balance this vehicle is to put it in the French and/or British tech tree for 6 months and see where it ends up, then adjust the KV-1E & KV-1B to match.
