@@Murnas1 I'm in Oregon too! (Tigard area) And yes - although I don't think there is a lot of Hanukkah fabric in general since it's pretty niche. So happy that Riley Blake Designs is letting me do a second collection that isn't super juvenile. Here's a sneak-peek > tarareed.com/hanukkah-fabric-sneak-peek/

Hi Tara, I used your pattern to make about 80 Kippahs for a wedding. I used a kaleidoscope quilt pattern which I first saw from Donna Jordan to cut the fabric and each Kippah came out as an individual design. I slightly altered your process because I don’t like hand sewing, I sewed all the seams, and joined the two parts, leaving a gap along the edge for turning. Then I topstitched the edges to close the gap, which also gave a more finished look. The result is super cute and the bride was super happy. Thank you for the great tutorial.

Thank you so much! Any idea how I would adjust the measurements for a child's kippah? Kindergarten, tiny tiny! ☺️
@ArtistTaraReed
@ArtistTaraReed Год назад
You are very welcome! I haven't made any for kids but I would print one or two of the templates and put it on their head. You will want to take 1/2" - 1" (I'm guessing) off the outside curve. Remember that when sewn it will be 1/2" smaller because of seam allowances. LMK what you decide works as you aren't the first person to ask and I have no little heads to test on! Thx!

I am a kiltmaker and are making Kippahs for friends using the Jewish tartan from Rabbi Jacobs in Scotland. Thank you for posting this it is a great pattern. If the child is 4 do i make the pattern 20% smaller?
@ArtistTaraReed
@ArtistTaraReed 8 месяцев назад
That sounds beautiful. I haven’t made them smaller but would probably keep the center the same and just take some off the outer curve to adjust. Lmk what works!

Hi Tara! I am your new subscriber and just found this video. I need to make a kippah for my husband. He has a very large had, 23" in circumference, he is totally bald and wants his kippah 6" dip. Any advice on how to do it? I don't need it reversible. Thank you in advance.
@ArtistTaraReed
@ArtistTaraReed 2 года назад
Hi Inna! To make it larger you'd add to the outside / bigger curve. Print the pattern and before cutting I'd extend the lines on the two straight sides then create a new curve further out. I would cut at least 2 out of paper and put them together from the center (smallest part) - overlapping the paper about 1/4" on each paper. then put it on his head and see if he likes the size. That will give you a better idea before spending the time cutting fabric and sewing. (Also remember it will loose about 1/2" when sewn so you want it a little wider than what he wants). Let me know how it goes as you aren't the first person to ask for bigger. Thx!

Looks a little small for all men's heads, like the one on your "model's" head looks like it will fall off easily. How can you extend the size. ?
@ArtistTaraReed
@ArtistTaraReed 2 года назад
It actually stays on my husband's head well because of the curve it has to it (and I didn't use a slippery material like silk). to make it larger you'd add to the outside / bigger curve. Print the pattern and before cutting I'd extend the lines on the two straight sides then create a new curve further out.

as a tailor why not leave the opening at the bottom and after you do the top stick you and close that final hole
@ArtistTaraReed
@ArtistTaraReed Год назад
Any spot works - I just prefer to leave straight sections to close ron an inside section that won’t be viable rather than an outer curved edge.
