My favourite shirt is the Pattern Emporium All in Easy shirt but having seen all your Doñny shirts I am going to give it a go! Ps the Roses are actually Tulips!! Happy stitching. Caroline

I've just checked that shirt out. I like it too. I quite fancy making a shirt dress and that looks like it could be a great pattern. I love shirts but when they're button down ones I like them open with a t shirt underneath. I like the Donnie shirt because it doesn't need fastening up and it looks good. 👍😘

Your shirts look great. I think it was called a Camp Shirt in the US. The only difference that I could see was that there was a breast pocket on them.

It's very similar to a camp shirt yes. This pattern does have a pocket but I chose not to add it. 👍😘

Thank you, I enjoyed seeing all your Donny shirts. I would lengthen the sleeves too. I need to hide very weedy arms! A pattern is always worth the money if we use them several times. I don't know whether I would with the Donny as I don't think it would suit me as well as it does you. My go to patterns are Tilly and the Buttons "Billy" and "Freya", plus the Sewhouse 7 Toaster sweater but so far I haven't been able to justify the high cost for blouse patterns . I prefer patterns in a ready printed pack. With PDF patterns I end up in a sea of A4 and twisted sellotape !

all great tops. I agree with you that the patterns are so expensive you really need to like a pattern and keep reusing to cover the costs. I think my most used pattern is love notions La Bella Donna top. I really must try the toaster top. 👍😉😘

Was it Hawaiian Shirt your thinking of, the other that came to mind was Bermuda but then I remembered that was the shorts you could get. Love all the shirts, it’s always the longest time when you first do a pattern is the fitting and adjustments, but then like you say once you’ve got it your away, or for you, super away speedy gon sewist, brilliant job on all. Xx Shorts to match? 😁xxx

Hi Micheline I really rate Friday as a great sewing pattern co because they were early adopters to plus size and they offer a few free patterns and their sewalongs are great. I have just bought the ilford to make a jacket for his majesty. I’m thinking I’ll also make an oversized shirt for me from it. I’ve been undecided on the Donny but yours looks great so I may give it a go if I don’t already have a similar pattern.

Hi Claire yes it is a good pattern company. I've made a few items of theirs and I've been very successful each time. Although the raincoat that i made proved awkward simply because the centre panels incorporated the front and the back and so they were very very long. I like the Ilford Jacket too although I do have a similar BIG 4 pattern. It reminds me of a Lucy and Yak jacket I saw a young girl wearing the other day. I imediately thought "I need to make one!" 😉😘

As far as I can recall I haven't had too much of an issue with them🤞. I find with many patterns I have to take the shoulder send in because they hang over my shoulders but I didn't have to make any adjustments on the Donny. The moment I find I have to overtweak an indie pattern it puts me off buying from them again. They cost so much that I don't want to be having to make so many adjustments. Oh the joys of not being a size 12. 🤭😉😘

As I was watching my playback I suddenly realised they didn't look like roses at all and more like some other flower. Now you come to mention it tulips they certainly are. 👍😉😘

well hello Moira. lovely to hear from you. I had the same feeling about the top as you had. it was definitely a no no for big bottoms and tummys. I just wondered if it might look as good lengthened. Well I was so pleased with the end result. it turned out even better than expected. I'm so pleased I tried it. thanks for watching. 👍😉😘

Oh no, now I need to buy the Donny pattern, Micheline made me do it. My question for the Q&A is, do you have any other hobbies or interests besides sewing and gardening? I am a reader and a bit of knitting, crochet and cross stitch. Not enough hours in the day though.

Very nice shirts, now you have to make pinafores to go with them. Jumper dresses? Whatever you call them, they will be great when you can't be bothered with pants. Collar up, coloured tights and boots and you will look amazing. One of the best things about aging is being free to be as eccentric as you please

the shirts are fabules, was the men's shirt you was trying to think of "Ben Sherman" i used to love them and had a lovely lilac and move with a hint of yellow. i had quite a few but that one was my fav. and yes they had the box pleat on the back with a loop type thing as well. love to you both. x

Love your Donny shirts and the pleat instead of the gathers works so well - going to copy that! I have only made one but I lengthened mine to my knees and added side seam pockets. I love it.

I like a summer shirt also in summer. They don't show the lumps and bumps like knits do, and I think they are cooler on a hot day. Love the one with the big dots on it. It hangs beautifully on you, and the pink patterned one.

It's such a nice pattern that I can see me using quite a lot of my stash up on it because each one looks totally different and it's quite versatile regards sleeve length. And I have seen it made into a dress too! Now that's a possibility too xxx

hi Helen I do understand what you mean about fba. I feel annoyed that I pay as much for a pattern only to find that it looks odd here and there and I have to start doing an fba to make it work. This pattern works for me as it doesn't involve any darts! Friday pattern company have produced patterns for all sizes and they seem to fit well too. there seems to be positive feedback about their patterns. XXX

I can't stress just how easy it is to put together Karen. I fud get a bit cocky on the third make and foolishly sewed the yoke to the wrong side of the fabric. 😱😳🤭 but a quick unpick and I was sorted. that'll teach me! 😂😂😂😘

Love those Donny shirts, all look great on you & love the idea of the pleat instead of gathering on the back. If I go for the pattern I would also lengthen the sleeves, always try & hide the bingo wings 😅. I gave up sewing for a while as been going to Slimming World & so far lost nearly 4st (more to loose though) & things I made had to keep altering! However, trying to get into it again. My Q&A would be about destashing, how do you do it, which site would be best & pitfalls. Many thanks Ali 😊

Well done Allison on achieving such a great weight loss. I have no doubt you want she feel better for it. And I would imagine that now you have lost all that weight you will want to start sewing because you feel better fitting to a slimmer figure. I'm endeavouring to lose weight too. I am gradually losing some but not at the speed that I would like. 😏 I'm sure that now you've lost all that weight you might actually feel like making clothes for your new figure. 👍😉😘

it's definitely a great make Hazel. I did make a mistake on top number 4. Burrito yoke got sewn to the wrong side of the fabric but it was quickly rectified. that'll teach me not to keep an eye on the instructions. 😂😂😂 I await your question. 😉😘
