I like how people are saying it “sounds good” and “wow that’s quick!” But as soon as it’s a mustang that’s doing it with the same engine everybody absolutely hates it and it sounds awful and thinks it’s the slowest car around
the 3.7's are pretty decent, there's a lot more in the aftermarket department for the 3.7 mustang community. I follow a couple groups to garner info, people will always hate something but I hear you there! I get the same flack too when people get all excited asking if I got the twin turbo 3.5, nope... just the 3.7 lmao.
Secondary interesting point... for the tauruses... they only had the regular/civilian option of either the 3.5n/a or 3.5 ecoboost twin turbo... only the interceptor model had the 3.7 option... I think it's 288hp for the 3.5na and 305hp for the 3.7
I remember back in 2010 when I was reading about the new 3.7's coming out and how the new v6 was advertised to get upwards of almost 30mpg and yet still have more power than the old day v8's, I was kinda blown away and wanted to experience such way back then. I actually owned a 2000 3.8 v6 mustang as well as a 2001 gt with the 4.6, I honestly can say this 3.7 smokes the 3.8, but that 4.6 maybe I am just remembering wrong but it had a different feel the way the torque hit and threw you back, don't get the same feeling, but then again my dad's old ass pontiac boats with the big blocks will hit you with that torque feeling meanwhile not being very fast, so it's hard to say.
That’s pretty damn quick. That’s also close to what my stock 5.7 Hemi Pursuit would do. Honestly didn’t realize the N/A V6 Fords had that much potential. Kinda want one now lol
So far the livernois motorsports tune has made the most difference. The different shift points and where the rpm's pick back up post shift have made the most notable difference. If I'm ever bored I might put back the stock tune and record to see a side by side comparison to the 93 octane tune.
@@NJMoo3652 yes indeed, very simple, just plug in the tuning device and select the stock tune, wait a few minutes while it rewrites the computer back to stock, and then good to go, pretty simple.
@@unclemoneymoneyuncle8702 Absolutely do it people won't realize the difference until you have a comparison I only know because I used to have 2 of these cars and they didn't take off like that or rev that high!!!!!🚔🚓💨💨💨💨💨
Wow it looks like somebody has a tuner!!! I used to have 2 of these and I never put a tuner on them, I just did the muffler delete and the thing looks like it's a little quicker than mine was!!!! EDIT: I got excited when saying in the video that mine would not take off so fast my mistake I had 2 of the EcoBoost 3.5s (basically an SHO in cops clothing)and they already don't take off as fast as the 3.7 but 1 of them that I used to own a friend bought and he did put a tuner in it but I haven't had a ride in it cause he moved to Oregon shortly after. I did have a 3.7 as a parts car but I never got a chance to drive it.😖
Hey! This video just popped back up in my feed. still exciting to watch. I'm a huge fan of all things explorer, so do you have any more updates on things you've done? Also, for ported Upper/lower intake manifold, I recommend Auto Mafia Racing (just in case you haven't done it yet). I used AMR to get mine done and the over all finish was very nice with a short lead time. One thing to note with AMR is that they don't sell the correct intake you/I need, you will need to send your original in and have them port it. If I may make a suggestion, after you port, get a larger throttle body (BBK makes a beautiful 73mm exact bolt on). Together they make a great pair, helping get up and going out of the gate just a little bit faster. Please let me know how your project is going and if you need any help, we are trying to accomplish the same thing here and two brains is better than one. Take care!
I follow a lot of the 3.7 forums and know well about AMR and Ortiz for tuning (as well as AMR having some other awesome stuff such as turbo kits, etc.) I did get my intakes ported but without the other tuning to compensate I don't believe I noticed a lot of difference initially as it would take time for the computer to compensate and adjust the air/fuel ratios for the increased air. I did think about sending my throttle body off to get ported (can't quite recall the guys name, but he charges about 130 to bore out your throttle body to a larger diameter and installs a new butterfly flap). Didn't do such but have heard how it greatly improves throttle response due to more air coming through more quickly. Buy yes, you're right, for the way our 3.7 sits vs the mustang community (transverse instead of front to back), I just wound up buying a pair of intakes and having them sent to be ported that way I could keep driving around with mine and then once I got the new ones could just swap them out!
It's got a lame button on the column shifter called "low gear", which will downshift, but just how far down or when will it decide to do so after pressing is anyone's guess. Sometimes you press it and it's instant and an aggressive downshift... other times it takes its good ol' time and after finishing its cup of coffee only downshifts one gear.
@@unclemoneymoneyuncle8702 low gear is meant for towing, it helps pull things up hills when the power isnt enoguh and can save the trans from having maintenance problems when towing
@@unclemoneymoneyuncle8702 the idea is that when towing high loads it doesn’t shift and can’t redline because it doesn’t have enough power to reach readline, low prevents it from shifting
went with the k&n cai, I know everyone argues you lose hp when just idling as the hot air... but when you're moving it doesn't matter, but for me I did it because I love to be able to hear the engine when it revs!
I originally was going to go with them, but there's a couple people lurking around the 3.7 forums that turn out a ton and I went with one of the ones that got better reviews. Honestly, I can't say I noticed a whole lotta difference after the porting... If I had the extra money and wanted to have some fun I'd go with SSM stroker kit, that thing looks wicked and watching the track video they have running that it's quite awesome!
@@unclemoneymoneyuncle8702 thank you for the info... Yeah if anything is bad happens to my 3.5 Ecoboost I am going to do their stroker kit for sure! Are you on IG so I can follow?
Epic counting and cool story, I get in the high 5's not 7's with my seconds. Do I care who's faster? Nope. Enjoy your vehicle. Do I walk up to people at the gym and say how I can lift more? Nope, I'm there to push myself. PS. This is an interceptor. It weighs a lot more and is reinforced with extra steel in the back to withstand a 75mph rear impact not to mention all the other gear that gets added probably making this thing closer to 5000 pounds than 4000.
@@unclemoneymoneyuncle8702 Yes, this car even has the steel bar going around the whole midsection. That's why the pillars are so thick, and interior room is somewhat small for the size of the car. It took the design from Volvo. It's basically a Volvo platform. I can't pinpoint the Volvo model platform now. That's what I can recall so far though.
