youngsoldier93 the same douchebags hating it in this video will be the same ones watching a Lamborghini video and commenting how the demon will "destroy" it. They have nothing better to do than to complain.
youngsoldier93 no one talks about these cars are on race gas and the tesla and demon have lots of flaws .... tesla no top end can get beat on the highway with a civic type r hellcat can't race on a track you get banned ... and can't take turns make a real fast car please stop cutting corners 0/60 quater mile covers and top end BOTH ARE HALF AS SUPER CARS PERIOD
youngsoldier93 because people are partisan just like in their politics and their sports teams once they get locked into something they have blinders on they can't look at things for what they are the Democrats are the worst
Henry Ovalles they're going back to it's roots dude, these cars are the new versions of their older counter parts which they were focused on going fast in a straight line - if they couldn't turn then they wouldn't be street legal - this is a drag car, not a circuit car. SRT has the Viper for circuits.
With all of the hate in these comments, people are forgetting how we worship the great muscle cars when they're gone. people will be praising it one day when we all have autonomous cars. Im no Chrysler fan, but I'm glad they're making this.
Brad Conklin TC, LC, ABS, 10 spd automatics man nah they're killing the scene where no one wants to improve on their individual skills outside of launch on a drag strip... Won't be long till you can't even buy a manual.. damn shame really
I'm sorry but Ford does have an 8 second factory Mustang called the Cobra Jet AND it has a roll cage (cough cough Demon), it's not road legal but can be with aftermarket modifications. Soooo, I don't want to hate, congrats to Dodge on the Demon but if you roll up at the strip and a Cobra Jet Mustang or a Copo Camaro pulls up next to you prepare to be absolutely dicked.
I love how all the people in comment section are talking all this shit. It's really showing how salty they are about how this car will be able spank half of their dream rides. And don't bring up corners. Because the only corner half you guys ever see is the one at the back of the class room you usually sit at.
krocialblack People talk shit because their sick of people like you overglorify them. It's a dumpster with a big engine, designed to do one thing. True car people don't car about numbers or claims Dodge makes.
zomski101 no one is over glorifying it "a dumpster with a big engine" just stupid man just like all are American classic cars right because they have the same bug dumpster big engine theme you got going?
Not a fan boy, just here to point out lies that Dodge has claimed. Tesla Model S P100D 0-60: 2.28s. That's .02s faster than the Demon. Is anyone realistically gonna notice that? No. Oh, and another lie? Koenigsegg V8 BHP: 1,341. Hennessey Venom GT V8 BHP: 1,200. Had Dodge said, "The most powerful production supercharged V8." They would not have been lying. Both of the aforementioned engines are twin-turbocharged. But, they did not say this. So, you sir, just got destroyed by facts that were supported by evidence, from someone who isn't the person you're calling out. Have a nice day.
Matrix the Koenigsegg isn't a production car since most of them are banned in the US. Also the Tesla isn't an orthodox car since it's purely electric; you're comparing Apple's to oranges. Common sense would say electric obviously responds faster than fuel... Your sir have just been destroyed by facts.
+Barry McKockinner Ugh. "Koenigsegg isn't a production car since most of them are banned in the US." This is possibly the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Honestly. Just because something is banned somewhere doesn't mean it's not a production vehicle. The Demon is banned from the NHRA, does that make it not a production car? The Toyota Supra (1994) is banned in the US, and it was a production car. The S15 is illegal in the US, it was a production car. Still not convinced? The Ford Falcon (2016) is banned in the US, and it is a production vehicle. Now to your second point: You say that a Tesla or really any electric car would have a better acceleration time. But let me refute that point real quick. Chevy Bolt EV 0-60: 6.5s Chevrolet Corvette Z07 0-60: 3.2s More? Tesla Model S 85 0-60: 6.2s Audi RS7 0-60: 3.2s It is still a fair comparison. Dodge said that they have built the fastest car to 60mph out there. They never said that doesn't include electric cars. Therefore, if Dodge was not lying, then the Demon would have to have beaten a 0-60 time of 2.28s. But, they never said that their standards don't include electric cars. So, therefore, they are lying. So, you are just trying to make false arguments against my true arguments. Please, sir, save yourself the time and don't try and debate someone who debates for a living. Have a nice day.
+Tank Dempsey I'm sorry, but your grammar was so poor I'm having a tough time understanding what you're saying. I believe what your reply should have been was, "Matrix We're talking production cars, here. The One:1 isn't a production car, nor is the Hennessey Venom GT. But, the Porsche 918 Spyder is a production car with a V8, and produces 900+BHP." Is this what you are trying to say? If so, let me refute this point. The One:1 is a production car, as you can buy one from Koenigsegg, (or could, rather) and it isn't something that was just a false promise. The Hennessey Venom GT, producing somewhere around 1,200+BHP, is also a production car, as you can buy a Hennessey Venom GT from Hennessey. (or, once again, could.) It isn't an add-on to a Corvette, or a Lotus, or something like that. (although it does use a Lotus platform, it isn't a Lotus.) It was made entirely (except for the chassis design) by Hennessey. It was produced. It was sold. It is, therefore, a production car. Have a nice day.
2kwik, the car they are in for the interview has a cage. It's clearly visible in the video. No need for a cage if you run in the 9's. You can do it once, and then you are done for the day. So, let's see it do it at least once versus just producing a time slip. Please link to one of these making a timed run.
Dodge was American at the likes of Ford and Chevrolet by the Chrysler motor company but the percentage of Chrysler is owned by Fiat which in turn is owned by the Volkswagen group So really it's still Daimler Chrysler
Daily driven dry only and with those sticky tires made purely for this pos to get to 60 fastest means changing your $2000.00 + set of tires every 5000 miles if you are lucky. Time will tell. Oh, and you may have to turn at some point as well on your daily drive.
It would even be more insane if the next generation Viper had the same engine with dry sump probably. It might do 2.0 seconds or under, setting another record.
Haters can be standing in a pile of shit, and still try to convince you that they know it all? And have done it all in every aspect of Racing. When in reality the only time they have set was 4 hour's in bumper to bumper traffic in some cheap Cheese import car that there still making payments on and owe more than it's worth. But they will always talk shit and put something down that they can never afford. The only fast car they ever had was in a magazine wet dream.
21 S3ß0 do you not get that this is the essence of old school muscle??? Its supposed to be like old school. Back then American muscle was the fastest cars in the world, and back then it didn't have rivalry. It was all about heavy, fast cars. A heavy, steel body, A really big V8 engine, and was made for straight line speed. You people are ruining car culture
If it can't turn, it can't run away. Unluck fruity little sporters. That's the essence of American muscle cars. But of course, this idea that these cars can't turn is just plain stupid. You don't want to be laying on 770 torque ft in a hairpin, but for daily road driving -- going by my Hellcat -- it will handle extremely well. And I'm over 840 torque and 900 rwhp. Drive my kids to school in it every day if the weather is okay for the tires.
There complaining that dodge the one manufacture that Was bought out by fiat can produce a car that will whoop a Modified corvette like child’s play. From the factory for roughly the same price. With more horsepower. Then the idiots that bring Hennessy into it saying the exorcist will beat the demon then us dodge guys respond, saying the demon will take an exorcist, from the factory too. Lmao
Actually, if you read into all the documentation that's available, it also can pull .98 in the skid pad... That's beyond decent with all of the drag related parts installed. Also, the wide body Hellcat, it also boasts the same numbers with larger rims, different tires and firmer suspension. SO, the Demon actually is the true all around sports/muscle car. I'm no Dodge fan either, but "respect".
Elias Dimopoulos skidpad numbers don't tell the whole story, I was at a track day at COTA recently in the yellow group, and there was a hellcat there (.94 g around the skidpad) which still got a big trail of cars built up in the twisty bits, he was so slow through the turns that he still had to lift in the straightaways to let people by. There are a few reasons for this, skidpad tests typically find sustained g forces rather than max g forces, my car doesn't get 1.1 g on the skidpad on stock P Zeros but it was still able to carry that much through the turns, this is where balance and steering with the throttle really come into play. Iirc, the hellcat looked like it understeered and took a long time to take a set through turns
Not to mentioned, less than 1% of performance cars will ever see a road course. 100% will see the street. All of the handling in the world will not save you from a Hellcat or Demon when the light turns green.
Mr Bob a lot of people seem to be missing the point... the Demon is a production car, Dodge didn't set out to make the fastest individual "street car."
The Challenger is just cooler than Mustang and Camaro. I like both of them. I've owned a Mustang. I've taken some Camaros on test drives. In most situations, dynamically, around a track, real world maneuverability, the Camaro and the Mustang are better. The Challenger is still just a cooler car. This particular one is faster in a straight line. Go to any car show and see the rows of Camaros, Mustangs, and Challengers. The row of Challengers has a lot more people taking pictures. And before you reply, think about the next steps above a Camaro or Mustang. Eventually you get to motorcycles. Those are faster, they cost less, they would beat a Camaro around a track, why don't you get a motorcycle?
Texarmageddon tbh same lol. As far as I've seen it doesn't look like there's a lot you can do to Challengers cosmetically. All the challengers I have seen at cars and Coffee look stock. Mustangs and Camaros are always different and unique cosmetically. Besides, I've seen people take pics of my dads mustang (the mustang in my profile pic) and it's been recorded in cars and Coffee pics. That's just my 2 cents. I'll leave now.
I've been to a lot of car shows and I'm not seeing what you claim. They seriously need to turn some designers loose on this tired old design. They've certainly got the performance thing figured out. If they could just move forward design-wise.
blackericdenice I don't think so, since this car was entirly build for the drag strip. I think they made the first gear exactly how it has to be in order to work with the Trans Break and everything. But maybe if you're not in Drag mode, it really starts in second in order to get higher MPG. Just my theory ^^
damn, only a few months (well, a few years if you count when it actually hits production) and its already outdated, a stock base second gen tesla roadster can do 0-60 in 1.9 seconds and still have a battery only range of 600+ miles.
Faster 1/4 mile than almost every 1000cc and even 1400cc STOCK sports bikes o-o 2017 ZX-14R BARELY beats it at 9.37 seconds. Very respectable numbers, but the demon doesn't stand out in the least and looks just like every other shit-boat challenger lmao. I love seeing cars that can beat sports bikes.
The new Tesla Roadster announced yesterday... 🤯 0-60 in 1.9 seconds 8.9 seconds quarter mile And we have a new king for the world’s fastest production car ⚡️
this demon is one hell of a car. you know what they say if you don't have haters that means you're not doing nothing right. haters hate on success and to me this car here is success at it's finest.👍 😈👍
Yes! the real only muscle car, Camaro and mustang switched it up which is horrible because it doesn't have the 'Old school muscle car' look dodge is the only one that still has the old muscle car look. Props to you dodge!
Take any car listed in the top 100 Nurburgring times and see if any owners have ever matched the times. Don't see people complaining about that though.
How cute! Dodge managed to propel their $80,000 shitbox down the track at what a 17 year old kid can do with $10,000 in a Mustang from the '90's. Whatever....
Yeah, I admit I worded it poorly. What I meant was that it could quarter in a similar time as a crappy Mustang with $10.000 dumped into it. Of course said Mustang would not be a new car, won't be able to corner, have inferior crash protection, and no warranty. I wasn't trying to sound so salty. I blame the vodka...
If the engine blows up, you can’t take it to the dealership like the Demon can for free. So, paying cheaper is a RISK and as the adage goes, “You get what you pay for.”
Dodge's line up is really looking good. They're the most exciting brand out there at the moment. I'm not loyal to any brand or childish "U.S. VS import" B.S. A real automotive enthusiast can appreciate what they did here. A 9 sec 4 passenger car with Bluetooth and A.C.. lol...I'd rock this in a heartbeat!
I have a friend that works at Milan dragway in Michigan. And the car will not pass tech without a cage. So I hope you have access to a private strip or have another 6k for a cage. Sorry it just annoys me that no Chrysler employee will address this issue. Yet it is going to be a serious issue for any owner of a demon. Don't like the sound of it just don't talk about it I guess.
Chrysler won't put a cage in for a couple reasons: 1) It's a street car. Roll cage on a street car isn't fun, imagine the liability if they had someone out there with no helmet on smacking their heads. Yeah... 2) Crash testing. A roll cage would completely change the crash dynamics, and require far more testing and certification...expenses probably not needed for an (apparent) 3,300-unit production. 3) The odds of those 3,300 cars seeing heavy track usage are slim, extremely so. It's possible most will see at least some track action, but just not that often...track-regular Demons will be the exception, NOT the tule. And it ain't $6k for a cage. WAY less than that, and if you're shelling out $85k for a car, another ~$25-3000 is chump change.
the reason they claim for not putting in a cage is the car would have to be re certified in crash testing. Extending release time. Also, the NHRA rules are not set in stone. They have in the past been updated to meet modern cars. The NHRA rules will change to allow the Demon and other cars like it to run. There are many 1/4 and 1/8 tracks that are not NHRA related. They are independent. What is funny is most the haters had no idea there was speed limit on drag car racing, or even NHRA. But once they found the Demon is too fast, and yeda, yeda,,, they use this as a way to hate. But it is such a minor issue..
BigBadDodge4x4 I feel ya somewhat. I've been hanging out at the track since I was a kid without a car. I'm just saying, the car is advertised as go to any track and have fun with a warranty. The car comes with drag radials for Christ sake. My problem is them avoiding the subject and not putting in a cage. Start the job just finish it right. If you want a street car buy a hellcat. Just my opinion. Props to Chrysler for the 800+ hp build though. I just got out of a '17 challenger r/t. Love the new exhaust on the '17. Finally some rumble out of the 5.7.
Koenigsegg(s) is/are not production cars hence why they doesnt count. Its a special order and most arent legal in the USA the ones that are generally the older CCX models.
Dodge made two false claims about the Demon 1: They did not make powerful production V8 ever produced Konigsegg's Agera produced 1000+ hp and that is quite a bit more the demon 2: the 1970's Dodge Dart if you bought it with the drag pack the suspension is already set up for drag racing
The KEY Word is "Production car", In most racing sanctions, etc ...a Brand has to build a "MINIMUM QTY" with in a year. LIMITED Production Exotics don't fit the bill....even then SSC and Hennessey Venom GT had more V8 power. 2. No "Street-legal/Production" car had a trans brake, Stock drag radials and a launch control like this. Dodge had drag race models in the late 50s< late 60s...but nothing like this.
As a huge JDM fan, I really hope no one pulls the old "it can't take a corner" bs. This is American Muscle. This is a well constructed and well thought out drag car. Honestly, I've seen numerous memes dogging this car, but Dodge/Chrysler has really done this car right. Extremely impressive. It makes me feel great to see a serious driver-oriented muscle car by Dodge.
The Punisher I beg to differ. I've driven both, you have not and as soon as I pay off my Subaru I'm lifting it, tuning it and supercharging it, making it even more better than the Jeep I previously owned. Not to mention the fact that Subaru is more reliable. Again have fun with your lemon.
Ivan Gonzalez Yea because it has no roll cage lmao, so essentially it's a death trap. Y'all think it's cool to have a banned car when it's only banned because it's unsafe and Dodge brags about it lmao
I want an AWD Charger Demon. Right meow. The only reason the V8 Challenger's don't have AWD is it doesn't fit in the chassis, but Chargers it fits fine. I want an AWD Charger Demon.
Matt Millar Tesla fanboys bragging on a nonexistent car. When customers actually take delivery we’ll see what it is. Not saying it won’t hit their performance goals. But they also gave dodge two years and a number to aim for.
Great to show them off - BUT you can't buy one - all taken - most by "collectors" - who will stick them in a warehouse, hoping they cash in 25 years on. Sad but true.
ant sz it doesn't matter about cost, its the fanbase that kills it. Like seriously, they always ruin things...and the new camaro and mustang that are coming out are more like track cars, not straight line speed cars. And yes its heavy, but that's how it was supposed to be. Back then, all muscle cars were ALL ABOUT heavy V8 engines, heavy body, and was just for straight line speed.
I love the dodge douches "you're only hating, cause you can't afford it", " dodge rules the world", "Demon, Demon come to me, so I can suck your sick"... Lol Dodge fanboys. So it's quick in a straight line, oooh. By that guys own admission THAT demon that did all those "WORLD RECORDS" Special tires, high octane gas, computer manipulated...Congrats Dodge, you've made a car that guys will buy, and spend the rest of their lives trying to recreate those records, and getting spanked by anything above a Honda Civic should they take it to a road track. And let's be honest it looks common, keep the Viper, least it is unique, they should have developed the Viper into this beast, not the common, found in EVERY parking lot Challenger, I can see the fake Demon stickers going on Challengers everywhere, and guys saying "nope it's not a real demon, it's just a v6, but Damn boy look at them stickers" lmao
Well, your comment then begs the question: "Ok, so WHY are you hating?" I'm a hard-core Chevy guy, but I gotta give props where props are due. This is an amazing car - no ifs, ands, or buts about it.
I have been reading many posts on this video. Funny thing is, that many people posting evidently have not seen the video or listened to it. Maybe they watched it with their eyes closed and their ears stopped up. For example, the subject of "roll out." The Demon was timed WITHOUT rollout @ 2.3 and WITH rollout @ 2.1. There are other things, but I won't mention them.
Ok Guy's!...the "2018" Dodge Demon maybe the World Fastest Accelerating Production Car!...BUT!...It is Still " 2017"!...and the 2017 Tesla Model SP100D with "Ludicrous Plus" Upgrade and the 2017 Bugatti Chiron...Both run 2.3 sec.s in 0 to 60 as well!...God Bless! BTW...I'll give a Honorable mention to a former Production Car Built by Hennessey Performance...the 2002 Hennessey Dodge Viper 1000TT!...It ran a 0 to 60 Time in 2.2 sec.s and the 1/4 Mile in Time in 9.4 sec.s! Also as a Ford Guy!...Back in 1984, Ford Built a SVT BOSS Mustang Running Concept Car that ran 1.9 sec.s in 0 to 60 and 10.5 sec.s in the 1/4 Mile!
Well the way they got the 2.3 sec differs from the way magazines test 0-60 times....SRT stated that in Normal(magazine 0-60mph) the Demon does 2.1sec. SRT talks about it @ 1:00 into this video..... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dnYHukExlnQ.html ALSO Bugatti times are just "manufacturer claims" they have been PROVEN to be complete LIARS when it comes to what their cars can do....just see the super sport top speeds. FYI, Quickest and FASTEST are very different things...the P100D only does 125mph in the quarter mile...Demon is doing OVER 140mph.
Ok I feel ya!...But as a Old School Ford Guy, I'll just say that back in 1984 SVT of Ford Built a BOSS Mustang 10.0L running Concept Car that ran a 0 to 60 time of 1.9 sec.s and a 1/4 mile time of 10.5 sec.s! Considering the 90's HP-Tech to Today's 21st HP-Tech...That's Not to Shabby!...God Bless!
thanks fore nowing things about cars man ...it makes me happy -))) yes sweden produsing higher horsepower but as you saying in a little 5.0 litres -(((( against 9.0 litres ..thats an big diffrent in torch.... and making possible to turning it upp further
Dodge's claim is the highest horsepower of any mass production car .... Koenigsegg engines are hand built low volume motors, and RATHER expensive. This Dodge engine is the most powerful V8 that is in mass production, the biggest bang for the buck!
Move aside, Dodge. The Tesla Roadster 2 hits 60 MPH in 1.9 seconds, has a top speed of over 250 MPH and finishes the quarter mile in 8.9 seconds. Also, Tesla plans to make a hell of a lot more than just 50 of these, making it a true production vehicle.
Move aside hyped fanboy, All CLAIMED numbersof a vehicle that would be PLANNED to go into production by 2020 (which will probably be delayed), by then there would be faster cars already.
Gazooo29: boosting a Hellcat is a compromise ... unless you also modify the suspension, re-flash the computer for front wheel lifting launch control , and put on the same grippy tires ... the Demon suspension is designed to transfer ALL the weight to the rear tires, while the computer controls the launch mode to produce a controllable front wheel lift weight transfer to the rear.
so guys after some research the demon is the fastest 0-60 you may say oh the teslas faster yes with a term called rollout even the manufacturer even says 2.4 the 2.28 was an independent time so there's my case!
Factory claims mean nothing anymore considering the times on the Demon are wrong. For all we know the 0-60 is over 2.28 seconds.... Musk him self posted that its capable of 0-60 in 2.3 with Ludicrous+ and then you have the 918 which does 0-60 in a claimed 2.4? but its hold the world record for the quickest acceleration of 2.1-2.2
I call it fantastic mechanical engineering!!! Go somewhere else hate electric-car babies ... P.S. The petrol engine of a formula-1 car still beats the electric motor of a formula-E car ... with more than 10 seconds difference per round! #Petrol engines are still Better in the ultimate racing games !!!
Brian Crawford Well because the Camaro isn't a piece of crap. That's why allot of other car companies out there are having a hard time competing with it. And not to mention it's almost 100% American made. lol
Chris Kennedy "Production car" doesn't mean "bought from a dealer". Cars have to meet a certain amount of cars made or something like that to officially be a production car.
The line lock and trans brake look too complicated to use. The power chiller is a dumb idea for a drag car. With the A/C on, there will be condensation dripping from the evaporator onto the track. The watch under your car for drips/ leaks at the track. If the see the a/c drip they won't let you run. I also like how there were no times in this video.
