Brian, Thanks for taking us up on the invitation! We had such a blast riding with you and getting to know you! We are excited to welcome new riders to the area. At Pedal Forward Bikes & Adventure, we have all the gear and parts any rider would need. We love to take the time to show riders where to ride and are also ready to service their bike if they have a mechanical issue. We wish you continued success and look forward to inviting you back to ride Blind Squirrel and the brand new trails on Ely Mountain.
does your shop rent out mtb's? I go to bass lake every year to camp and am looking to ride these trails in June. would be nice to rent instead of take my bike, coming from ventura.
Watching this makes me realize how bad I let myself go 🌮 🎂 🍕 🍺 … compared to when I first started watching your channel 4 years ago and riding ever other day , I need to get back out there ASAP !!!😂
Awesome video, as always, Brian! Thanks for covering our local trails, businesses and bike club. I'm a 60-year-old novice rider. Watched your videos for a couple of years and you inspired me to upgrade from a no-name, $200 piece of junk to an Ibis Ripmo AF! Due to my age and lack of experience, I also invested in an absurd amount of body armor! LOL. Jorge and Mike at Pedal Forward Bikes are great guys! Super friendly, helpful and did a great job fixing up the used Stumpjumper I just bought. Thanks for sharing their story. :-)
Great to see you on one of our local trails! So stoked you came out. Jorge and Mike are great. Hope you had a good time man. We have more, keep coming back and I hope to see you on the trail!
Bryan, you finally came to my hood! 007 all 4 sections is definitely epic. Also Flying Squirrel, massive granite slab downhill is like being in another park. Hope you come back for more!
I'm from about 30m8n north of here. Back in my day(yep, old) we'd run old fire roads and cattles paths. Definitely be out on my list. Thanks for memories BK.
I spent all of 22’ and half of 23’ in Fresno, my favorite trails around were the ones at bass lake. Those dudes at pedal forward were always super cool and helpful! Definitely recommend that shop in oakhurst!
Hey Brian, great to see you list this trail. Grew up in Oakhurst, parents still live there. A friend and I started a DH race series on 007 in the late 90s. We had about 300 plus riders show up every year including some of the best Pros in the country, Marla Streb and Mark Weir won several years in a row. That second section you rolled in on we put in with the permission of the Forest Service and was where the Pros started their race.I moved to Monterey in 2000 and the race stopped but we had six years of racing there, lot of great memories. I worked for the Forest Service up there in the 80's and 90's and helped manage that trail, good to see someone is taking care of that trail again.
@@beaverbiker Hey Curtis, I recognize your name. Good times and memories for sure. Stoked to see a new bike shop in Oakhurst and that people are taking care of the trails.
I used to ride 007 and 0007 back when I went to Fresno State. That was almost 20 years ago. I bought a Specialized M2 for 2k back then at Trisport (no longer there). That was a TON of money for a college student. My fraternity brothers and I rode up there once or twice a week! That was when mountain biking was almost a NEW sport. Man, how much the sport has grown.
Such a great area to ride! I started riding these trails when I moved to Fresno in 1993 doing them on a Mountain Goat hardtail with a RockShox Mag-21. Still an epic place to ride and El Cid is still the best! Back in the glory days of mountain bike racing there was the brutal Shuteye Peak race.
Looks like a great place, mini-destination like. As you say, awesome to have the great food and lodging around. What were the temps out there when you rode?
@@vultussursum165 I am not affiliated with the shop, but they are great guys. I'm a member of the club (YSGTC) that maintains all the trails in the area.
Rode there back in the 90's. Oakhurst always had a good bike shop, 0akhurst Cycle Center. They put out a map of local trails, anybody remember those before Trailforks? 007 was a fun downhill but got tore up by moto's going uphill. That place is too hot in the summer to ride and a snowmobile place in the winter.
The trails have been mint for a long time now. A dedicated group of MTB riders with YSGTC keep everything running in tip top shape. We also ride there throughout the whole summer. Once you get up in elevation, it's not that hot, and when you get to the bottom you just ride straight to the lake. Additionally, the lower two sections don't get as much snow as the rest of the mountain, so we're riding those sections through winter too.
Good to hear, I road there while on trips to Bass Lake. I rode Goat Mt, Lewis Creek, Willow Creak and Big Trees/Nelder Grove. Lots of trees would fall across the trails from snow and the moto's would chrun up 007 pretty bad. Have to get back up there. What happened to the old bike shop in Oakhurst?
@@johnmurphy4989 the trails were rough back then because there wasn't regular maintenance being performed. Come on up and check them out sometime. Also, there are some SUPER sweet trails way above Willow Creek that dump into that zone. Makes for an awesome long downhill from way up Beasore Rd. The go to bike shop in Oakhurst is now Pedal Forward. Check them out when you're in town for the latest on the trails. Jorge and Mike are very much in tune with what's going on.
Sounds good, upper willow creek is a great place to swim and one of my favorite tails. I'll get back there. I still have my trail map put out by The Southern Yosemite Fat Tire Association. Maybe a collector item.
I saw an image of a crazy trail somewhere but don't recall where it was taken at. from the image the trail had a drop switchback onto a bridge into a cave. and there were people riding the bridge and it look like somehow the trail cross a bridge under the higher bridge.
Great vid bk noticed you rid a very stiff front fork I found this wrong for me as u dont use all the travel and the rocks and bumps rattle your bike and slow you down
Last summer to went to Hendersonville NC to ride in Asheville for a few days and a Red Roof employee told me their business went down close to 50% as i asked him, great Hotel as they are 'bike friendly' and prices are reasonable and only 30 min. drive to Asheville. No 'new' bikes available!!!! I have been looking or thinking of replacing my 2019 Instinct BC and the top of the line is close to double for what i sold mine for
