is it possible to create polystyrene nanoparticles infused with a blowing agent (like pentane) for making nano-foam? I believe that for industrial foam production, polystyrene is polymerized in conjunction with pentane to make expandable polystyrene particles. Wonder if this will work for nano styrene particles.

Im trying to make poly acrylic acid emulsion. Can I know detailed ratio of materials and is this procedure can be applied to acrylic acid?

So for this reaction in particular oxygen is not an issue? Many emulsion polimerization reactions require an inett atmosphere. That's why It surprrises me. The easiness. How long did the reaction take?

Did you get the answer? After polymerization, evaporation and then drying process is logical to obtain dry form?

how do you go from the emulsified product to the solid. just evaporate off the solvent or destabilize the emulsion colloids ?

u can do suspension polymerisation which produces particles of your desired size. Basically u choose an hydrophobic initiator and use less of the sodium dodecyl sulfate.
