01-09-2024 Marianna, FL Major Damage - Florida Caverns RV Park Drone 

That's the roof over the fuel pumps.

This morning. It was a tornado. No deaths at this time but hospital was apparently under preparation for numerous serious injuries and casualties

We’re in the RV park and we were told No deaths here.

@B-24Liberator if so that's great. I had heard a report the hospital had done some type of multiple or mass casualty alert or something. I don't have Facebook or anything so I admit I can't confirm.

@@B-24Liberatorglad you’re ok! This is the same tornado that came ashore in south lagoon area in Panama City beach…. Lots of damage here too. Sorry it came y’all’s way- glad you’re ok.

@hildadykes143 I just did an edit. Apparently no deaths reported yet. I had heard there was some type of report but it must have been they were under a code for possible casualties.

Spring Chase got hit really hard

Tornadoes always have a start point where they drop down to the ground. If you happen to be under that, no chance to flee. I dont know if this was the start point, but that could explain some. Tornadoes also can move very very fast. 60+ miles an hour. It can start several miles away, and by the time warnings go out, its already there. Especially dangerous if someone is asleep. This one hit at night. By the time they wake up if they hear the warnings, it may be there already. RVers may be unfamiliar with tornadoes and safety from them if they are from an area that doesnt get them and staying in an area they hit. Sometimes people, especially in an RV park, wont know where to go for safety. Especially in the dark and pouring rain. Throw in panic which many people experience with a tornado bearing down on them, and they just cant function. I live in the midwest and am used to taking shelter from tornadoes. We always pay close attention to the weather. But I have multiple friends here who turned off their weather radios years ago or never got one, because they hated being woke up by it when no tornado hit. One family of these had an EF3 touch down about a mile from their house. It killed three. They didnt know about it till we went to check on them. This same tornado made a beeline for other friends house, who also had no weather radio, and lucky for them it lifted a few hundred yards away. People get complacent either way. It is really sad and very deadly. Breaks my heart. 😢

We did and by the grace of God we survived. But I can tell you next time I won’t stay in the RV.

Tornadoes aren't like hurricanes. You don't have much if any warning

@@gofigure84 especially in a place that doesn't normally experience tornadoes.

@philbuell6657 no we don't see them often and they are small compared to what places like the midwest see.
