As a long haul trucker from Canada that crosses the borders a few times a month I have a few pointers. Never volunteer info. Listen to the questions and answer only the question. Your lucky the didn't ask about the booze because if you had over the maximum allowable which it sounded like you did. They would fine you if you misrepresented the amount and they checked. If you tell the exact amount and your over what's allowed, you will be assessed duty fees which on alcohol is more than its worth. Firearms is a yes or no answer that is it! I found out the hard way when I jokingly said when asked if I had any firearms, what do you need. That's was 7 hours I'll never get back. Also you're lucky they didn't know you were filming, they would've made you delete that footage. Being polite goes a long way but again no need to elaborate on anything. Hope you enjoyed Canada. Love your videos. Be Well and travel safe.

I couldn't agree more. We drive across in a car and I threaten everyone to not speak unless spoken to. Short answers, to the point and don't bother trying to be funny. The idea is to get through quickly and the more someone talks, the more likely your trip will be delayed.

In regards to our crossing video too many of you out there are on edge, seriously this was an in-the-moment video. To answer a few of the legitimate questions here you go: Squeaks - The microphone we were using only has "auto" volume, so when we point it forward it picks up EVERY tiny squeak! The RV does squeak a bit, but not as bad as it sounds! RV Updates - We'll have updates on the RV coming soon. 001 - Yes, this is episode 001 and we plan to share as often as we experience something awesome. We will document and share in this "unproduced" real style video series. Agent asks: You're from TX are you SURE you don't have guns (major stererotype joke coming from him)? Me (also jokingly) says "No, I'm a Democrat". It's a joke people, I don't care if you're a republican, a liberal or gun owner, please keep your negative comments to yourself they are not helpful for anyone. For the few that claim "I've unsubscribed because you're a democrat"....wow...and that's all i have to say about that. Thank you to all the people that realized this is a "real life" video and casual jokes about being "just bloggers", "democrats" and "popular" was just that, a joke. The point of this video was to share our experience crossing the border to help others.

Personally I find all your vids fun and informative. And life is too short for being too serious. Keep up the great work, throw in as much humour as you like :-) You were nervous, it was your first time, you showed this and you showed there was nothing to be worried about... Now, you're known as notorious booze smugglers... you should get some wanted posters printed up ;)

Mr. Jason, you were making me nervous, watching your cute anxiety!! Miss Nikki, could you be any more chill....well, I guess if you were Cleo! Loved it......especially, when the BP asked Jason, "Why do you have it then?" #Fleetwood Mr. Jason so humble...you should said, "Sir, we're the Wynn's....did you want our autographs, eh?" hehehe - I bet he checked out your site later. ;-) Have fun and be safe in that foreign land, eh!

Just a quick Thank You for this video. My Fiance is traveling down from Canada to the US. I know it might be a bit different, but for some reason I struggled to find a video that was just someone crossing the border and what happens. We were silly, but paranoid about full on searches and being detained for hours and whatever... because i guess normal people worry about irrational stuff like that. It's just a woman and 2 kids coming to see family, I'm sure it's not a big deal, but we've never done it and wondered what it was like. Thanks again!

i completely agree with you, i know how to be legal thats not my problem in crossing, i have two issues. 1. i always travel with a firearm 2. i have a cat that can't get the required shots, because of he can't handle them. we all have our own requirements in life but taking advice from farts in the wind is not one of them.
@wetolow1444
@wetolow1444 8 лет назад
boarding the cat is not an option, as i travel with 3 cats and a chihuahua, ( its not as bad as you might think,lol) they travel very well together and these guys have never been apart. as for ccw i can carry in just about all states and do . i am aware of what happened in Canada and how you lost your gun rights. something you probably will never get back. the topic of firearms in the hands of regular citizens is a hot topic in any country and its being beat to death in this country (USA) do i like to CC, not really, its a pain in the ass at times, 450$ in ccw insurance a year, having to know each state (i now use a phone app) law and where you can and can't carry, the list gose on, so you might ask yourself why bother, the answer is simple. as long as EVIL is present GOOD must triumph. just because one has a gun free society doesn't mean it murdered free. evil just uses a different tool, knife, club, hammer, shovel, long bow, mace, trebuchet, pots of boiled oil tipped over from high above. agreed the latter tools are not commonly used today. but i think you get my point. its not a issue of living in fear, but rather deciding if one is eather a victim or a Victor. i for one prefer not to be a victim (if i can help it). ty for your input. travel safe. and watch out for those trebuchet's.

We did an RV trip a few years back from Alaska to Idaho, Utah, the northern part of the Grand Canyon, Nevada, and California (the whole shebang...Disney, beaches, the beautiful coastal highway, the Redwood forest), Oregon, and Washington. Then we hit the Cassiar Highway and headed home. I loved Canada, but then I've traveled through there a lot while growing up. It was a whirlwind month long trip, but well worth it with our kids. I certainly hope you guys have lots of fun on your way up here. Ignore the negativity it's not worth your time. Love your RU-vid channel. If you visit the visitor center in Banff, they will give you info on some nice places in the area. Just remember that they might have told the same thing to a thousand people before you. Don't forget to stop on the highway and get yourself a park pass. If you bypass the highway booth, you'll have to visit the above mentioned visitors center and get a pass.

Canada and America are the same except we use the metric system for our maximum speed limit signs and our destination signs are also in metric In Canada we have a national defence highway system known as the Trans Canada Highway System located in all 10 provinces with a mixture of provincial and local municipal highways The Trans Canada Highway System markers are denoted with a green maple leaf with the highway number on it or the green maple leaf is below the highway number such as in Ontario and Quebec

as for the democrat comment..i know a shitload of democrats who have guns..wtf does that even mean..political affiliation has nothing to do with exercising your second amendment rights..thats just ignorant.

+matanuska high Also, telling a Canadian that. If it wasn't already meaningless you are saying it to someone who wouldn't be able to get any context from it anyhow. BUT.. truth of the matter is he was nervous so he said the first thing he could to keep the conversation going. "No guns" would have been sufficient, but his mouth wanted to keep going. Border security is very good at making people nervous and say more than they should. That's their job. They can also be very good at making you comfortable and at ease (if that's what they think will work). Had a friend that worked the border that got some kids to freely admit they had brass knuckles and butterfly knives on them by being chummy, "Coming back from Mexico eh.. any cool stuff?"

It's not an ignorant comment. It is a statically accurate comment. The vast majority of Democrats do not own firearms and to be honest a huge portion of people that are Democrats would gladly see the second ammendment abolished. You know that is true. But congrats on following the liberal stereotype of being easy offended by some harmless words. Seriously though don't let things that mean nothing offend you, you'll be a much happier person and if you ever find yourself in South New Jersey (we're not the smelly part, we're the part with countless pizza joints and farms) send me a message. I'm an ex military weapons instructor and will give you some free lessons. I'm sure your a great shot but I can make you even better. I used to pay my rent by winning shooting bets against Navy Seals when I was stationed in Norfolk. Take care an e joymthe videos. These posters are great people.

As a Canadian, we have had the same feelings crossing into the USA. We have a 5th wheel trailer and have never had a problem. The best thing is to be honest and not try to hide anything, because when you do and they find it that's when you are in trouble. Hope you enjoy your time in Canada as we enjoy ours when travelling in the U.S. We will retire next year and will spend our winters in the south west as snowbirds. We live in London Ontario and look forward to getting away from the winter. Take care and safe travels.

I cross at Coutts 30 - 40 times a year to cross border shop as I live in the second town from the border, they are very friendly and pleasant and have a great trip through Canada. Just remember, before you get to Banff or Jasper get your money changed and watch out for the Golden to Revelstoke highway as this is one ugly road. I refuse to travel on it - the traffic is unbelievable and they can be just darn crazy eh.....and whenever I head into the USA the guys there have been very pleasant - Turn off your engine, roll down your windows and just be polite. And if you have to pay duty at either end it is no big deal, if you can afford to travel you can afford to pay duty.

A friend had just had radioactive treatment for her thyroid before an RV trip through Canada. Boy did she have some splaining to do over her HOT black tank. Nothing like setting off the Geiger counter at a border crossing.

A dental Xray will set off the machines at the border.A friend of mine had is truck impounded for 6 hours in Detriot because he went to the dentist that morning. Let him go eventually after they figured out he wasn't a terrorist.

Did you guys get lost? crossing border make everyone nervous. We get that way going into U.S.A. and coming back home can also be nerve wrecking too. I'm amazed that they didn't ask about if you had any chicken product with you. We got asked if had any coming back into Canada. Easy as pie!

Canada don't allow guns in there country?
@shepdshepd4667
@shepdshepd4667 9 лет назад
asdf Sure we do. Not particularly harder to get them than in the US either (you must pass a test and receive a license, 1 in 200 Canadians fail so it is not hard), contrary to popular belief, but for one specific type (small handguns---those are limited to persons of certain employment or have to be left at a gun range). However, transportation is more complex (safeties and such) and concealed carry is a no-no.

They do, but don't ever try to cross into Canada with an undeclared gun of any kind. They consider it gun smuggling and a federal offense that is never overlooked on the basis that someone didn't know. Canadians expect anyone going into their country to know their laws before they get there and respect the laws while they're in Canada.

You can enter Canada with up to 3 firearms if you are over 18 , have a license for the weapons, and you declare the guns at the border. You must fill out forms for each gun and pay a fee. You generally have to leave handguns at the border to be picked up when you leave, or if you are travelling to Alaska, you can carry your declared, secured , locked weapon through Canadian territory. If you are caught trying to bring an undeclared weapon into Canada, the weapon will be confiscated and you will face harsh penalties, especially if the smuggled weapon is a handgun. An undeclared handgun found by CBSA will result in confiscation, prosecution for violation of the federal Firearms Act and a fine of up to $2000. Plus you can probably count on having a hard time crossing the border in future. If you bring guns into Canada for hunting or other activities, you need to have a Canadian firearms permit or PAL (Possession and Acquisition License). Canada bans all use of large-capacity magazines, all automatic weapons and many semi-automatics. Concealed carry or open carry for self-protection is illegal. Guns in Canada must be under lock and key with trigger locks at all times. The majority of Americans who try to bring undeclared guns into the country are Americans over the age of 60. Most are from the South and often assume US gun laws apply outside the borders of the US. Old age and ignorance of the law are no excuse. There are large signs at Canadian border crossings that state weapons must be declared. This also applies to Canadians travelling into the US, by the way. If you own a gun and you intend to visit Canada, leave it at home when you travel outside the US. Respect the laws of the countries you travel to, just as you expect visitors to the US to respect American laws. This is just common sense. Otherwise suffer the consequences.

Welcome to Alberta and to my neighborhood! If you haven't gone too far yet hang a left and hit Writing on Stone provincial park. Incredibly stunning. And feel free to ask for more tips from me about my backyard. Have spent a lot of time in the Rockies too and know of a lot of well kept secrets.
