When you said "he invented a trick" I was so ready to call bs, but in my 30yrs+ years of skateboarding, I've really never seen anyone try that lmao. Also, I'd really like to hear more about how it came to you being a ref for the Landhausplatz Open. In the last video and from the beginning of this video, I was under the impression that you actually went there to ref and then when you said that you're no longer competing but refereeing, I was surprised that this wasn't the intention from the start :D
Haha! I'm glad I didn't disappoint. :) I've never seen a River Rat before but it looks mad cool. Super hard to do as well. So I became a ref as I follow Landhausplatz on Instagram. They posted about needing volunteer refs and I shot them a DM. I only went there to see a new country as I was already looking to be around Munich, so it was easy to pop over there to make content for the series, and check out the contest as I never really go to any. I also owe it to myself to go out to these things more. On the day, the organisers told me they were a bit short on skaters for the qualifiers so they asked me to be a last-minute stand in, so I said yeah. But in truth, my self-confidence and anxiety at the time was really, really bad and I was struggling to commit/land tricks for the entire trip. It's a bummer because flatground is my thing, and I've always wanted to compete in at least one Game of SKATE tournament in my life. I didn't want to compete because I didn't want to embarrass myself in front of a huge crowd, hence why I was happy about only being a ref. But I've been working on myself since. Slowly getting better. I'm hoping they do the tournament again this year as I'd love to compete this time. But I haven't heard anything yet.
