02/28/1998: #3 North Carolina Tar Heels at #1 Duke Blue Devils 

three things I noticed about this game: Elton Brand put in some work. Tar Heels got tired down the stretch, and even when they were down big, Coach K's demeanor never changed from one of focus and calm.

My personal favorites r whenever we take down Carolina in the ACC tournament (rival supremacy), but singular game-wise would be the one I attended in Chapel Hill in Feb 2004 - Chris Duhon's length of the court game winning layup in OT

Then Duke owned UNC from 2000-2010.. including a 82-50 victory to end the decade.

I am a big time Duke fan but in 1999 Duke should have won the national championship but coach K sometimes does not call time outs when he should I blame that lost in 1999 on him,if they have won ,that 1999 team would have been rank to me the best ever NCAA

Not the only dominant stat on our end! Since losing to the Tar Holes in the '98 ACC final, we have a stranglehold on them in the conference tournament! Duke 8-1 against their (most arrogant fanbase in America) hated rival since! Winning the ACC tournament always means the most to me personally, moreso of course when we take down Carolina along the way

I remember exactly where I was when we made that comeback from the dead! Hard 2 believe it's been 22 years ago! Also believed that had we beaten Kentucky in that years' regional we would have won the national championship! Our depth on that club would have worn down Stanford and Utah both

It's crazy, this was my 1st Duke win I witness, with my grandma, who her dad went to Duke. I was 12 years old and remember her saying, sweetie let's switch TVs, because that will bring Duke luck. And I swear, that is when Duke went on their run!!!! I did that 20 years later (and never did it before) in 2018, when UNC had Duke down by 10 at halftime and ofcourse Duke came back and won by 10

Not a chance. The 1992 game in chapel hill and the double overtime thriller in 95 were better than this one. And the 2001 game in Cameron was pretty good too.

Recording, I didn't use any software, b/c I brought the game off some guy online a couple of years ago. I just put the DVD inside my laptop and upload it from there, combining 3-5 different parts "VTS_01_1," "VTS_01_2," "VTS_01_3," "VTS_01_4" and "VTS_01_5" and using the RU-vid video editor.

Anthony Utah was bid slowed the game down, and made it ugly. That style played into Utah's hands, Carolina couldn't get up and down the floor and utilize there speed, quickness and athletic gift's.

+Cedric Reyes McLeod played center. It's weird and incorrect that they list Battier at center at 8:58. Might be because UNC had one pure center that season, Makhtar Ndiaye, who did not start this game. UNC rotated 6 guys as starters the whole season, and Ndiaye was the odd man out as a starter this game. Technically speaking, noone in either starting lineup was a center, but when Ndiaye or Haywood were in the game, they was guarded by either Brand or McLeod.

Are you stupid? UNC used to beat Duke on the regular until the 1999 season. Dean Smith had won 8 of the last 9 games against Duke before he had retired. Btw, UNC lead the series!

Gary Watkins LOL! The refs always call a fair game. Hell, the refs cheat for dook all the time! dook got lucky in this game because UNC beat them with ease in the ACC Championship Game in 1998. You better watch out because UNC will be ready next year.
