Andy. I pulled and tested the stator and it was a bit rusty on the bottom coil but ohmd out good. I’m relating it to fuel now. It started and ran then began to back fire and sputter under a load. Now it will start then die. I’m gonna get after my injectors and clean the power valves. It’s the same machine your working on. Have you ever experienced these symptoms? Thanks, Sam

Andrew, Any reason you go for the ProX Pistons on your rebuilds as apposed to other after market pistons like Wisesco or SPI?
@Fixin2Ride-Official-
@Fixin2Ride-Official- 3 года назад
Sorry had a busy weekend. Yes the prox are made at fscikities managed by ART. The same company that makes the OEM pistons. Ive used the SPI and Im not impressed with them. Weisco are forged and more aimed at drag racing as they take so long to heat up compared to the cylinders. So they can be ran with tighter tolerances as they will only be used for 30 seconds at a time. They can be used in trail sleds but its not advisable as they take so long to heat up being forged (solid metal pressed into shape as opposed to cast) that it causes glazing of the cylinders over time and can lead to premature engine damage and lower compression. Hope this explains it and thanks for watching!

@@Fixin2Ride-Official- I Got one more question. I haven't seen a video on it yet for you but not sure if you have one or not. Looking for a trick you may have to compressing the Secondary to put it back together without buying the special compression tool.

Actually I have found that putting the back aide down into a vise works perfect. Then you can twist it and push down and quickly thread the nuts down a couple of threads. Thats all Ive ever needed to do. Hope this helps.

Hi Andrew I recently acquired the same sled for free in great shape fixing a few minor things now to get it ready early for the season was thinking about rebuilding the engine next summer do you remember about how much it cost to rebuild and by chance a hood parts list thanks great videos Jeff
@Fixin2Ride-Official-
@Fixin2Ride-Official- Год назад
Nice! Thanks for asking. As long as its a good running engine the Rough cost is below: Crank rebuild- $450 Top end kit- $200 Winderosa/ Cometic Gasket kit- $70 There's always other stuff like Jack shaft and drove shaft bearings in both sides, drive belt, clutch cleaning or rebuilding, skid bearings and wear strips (hyfax) amd ski bars (skaggs) ans front and rear shock rebuilds (typically $30-$50 each) to make sure its 100% reliable and safe Even after all that above you still run into little things like missing bushings or spacers in the skis and loose tie rod ends and heim joints in the front steering system.

I got both shocks rebuilt on my skid and it still sits low.. You think I have bad shocks or I have to replace my torsion springs?
@Fixin2Ride-Official-
@Fixin2Ride-Official- 7 месяцев назад
You could look at the rear bracket where it's attached to the rails. Also.your limiter straps as ell as the front spring preload and which bolt holes you have the skid mounted. But he's torsion springs could be the main culprit. Lots of people rebuild their shocks every year.

Andrew - did you do a leak-down test on that engine?
@Fixin2Ride-Official-
@Fixin2Ride-Official- Год назад
Nope. Rebuilt the whole thing. All.gaskets repalced and mee top end. Running like. A top since. Leak doen tests are more for 4 stroke engine so you can determine if you have bad intake or exhaust valves sealing, bad rings or bad cylinder gaskets. Things like that. An engine pressure test is what you want to do for a 2 stroke as well as compression testing if need be. Pressure test will tell you if your seals are bad.
@GreenallFootball
@GreenallFootball Год назад
Ok I have my terminology wrong. I meant a pressure test... did you do one on this engine? We have a 2000 Powder Special 600 carb engine that we have been rebuilding. We had to track down and buy a "gone through" bottom end, buy used cylinders, new pistons, rings and gaskets. The only original part of the engine is the head. Any advice?
@Fixin2Ride-Official-
@Fixin2Ride-Official- Год назад
Gotcha. Yeah you can put it together and pressure test it OR put new seals in the bottom end. Its not hard..... Split the cases, clean mating surfaces, install new seals on crank AFTER filling inner lips with grease and polsihing crank with 600grit wet dry sandpaper in oil seal riding surfaces and reassemble with Permatex The Right Stuff 1min gasket maker. Apply thin bead to bottom half of case mating surface, then dab with finger to coat entire mating surface and reassemble by torquing in 3 steps of 10ftlbs each. So 10ft-lbs, then 20, then 30. Start from middle case bolts and work outward in same pattern each time. Case should have a number by each bolt embossed to tell torque pattern. If not, find service manual. It's always worth the Peace of Mind to put new crank seals in when you have the engine torn down that far for that kind of work. Unless you know how old the seals are and they are good. But if you don't know the person that went through the bottom end and they don't have receipts or some type of work log then just put new ones in there. They're only 35 to 50 bucks for Cometic or Winderosa
@GreenallFootball
@GreenallFootball Год назад
The Arctic Cat manuals says for the top end tightening sequence after finger tightening all the bolts: 1. Tighten the head bolts first, then... 2. Tighten the exhaust manifold second, then... 3. Tighten the cylinder base nuts last... How does one tighten all the cylinder base nuts with a torque wrench with the head torqued down above it? Why would the factory manual suggest doing it this way? Your order is not the same as the manual: 1. Cylinder base nuts first (you can torque all these nuts because the head isn't installed yet) ... 2. Exhaust manifold nuts second... 3. Cylinder head bolts last... Thoughts?

where is the full disassemble? i need it bad lol draining coolant and pulling heads i need help with
@Fixin2Ride-Official-
@Fixin2Ride-Official- Год назад
I find that it's best to raise the sled up in the front and remove the skid plate portion of the belly pan and then put a hose on the drain port at the front next to the coolant housing after you loosen it up and then drain that into an empty clean coolant bottle to reuse if it's still good. And the heads you will want to remove the coolant ports and the heads and then remove the cylinders. You don't have to loosen them in any order but you do have to tighten and torque them in three steps with a cross pattern

Hi, Andrew. I will write in the order of Viewing. 1. Risks in the cylinder is hon. if the hon is there, then it's great. These risks are taken when the cylinder is leveled, and oil accumulates in them, which improves performance and increases compression. 2. The tool you used to drill the cylinder is more like a toilet brush )))) It is better not to work with such a tool. It does not allow you to do the job correctly. it is better to use a.d-cd.net/jwAAAgIc1OA-1920.jpg this hon. 3. When you make a gap in the piston ring, you lower it deep enough. In the area where there is wear. Wear is uneven. The ring can then break due to thermal expansion. It is necessary to adjust the size in the narrowest nest . this is the top of the cylinder. This is my opinion. You made a GREAT video. The job is done perfectly! You're always working when you can see that you put heart and soul into this work. PS. I would still measure diameter of cylinder with calipers and the piston diameter with a micrometer. And then he squandered the device that he showed you above. Because of the difference in diameters, all problems can occur. PS. PS. I watch the news from the United States you have terrible things going on there. May God save you and your family!!!
