Overall you have a great video and very well said. But you do need to correct yourself when it comes to the orientation of the Add-A-Fuse taps. It most definitely matters on which way you place the tap in the fuse box. Without adding all the technical terminology "Line", "Load", "Hot", "Cold", Etc... Their is a directional current flow that takes place. Depending on which pin carries the 12+ on your particular fuse panel will determine which way the tap is inserted. You would need to check this using your multimeter or test light on the fuse panel and see which pin is providing the 12+. If you grab your Add-A-Fuse tap and position it so that your looking at the wire pointing to the right and the pins facing down, the Left pin is your 12+ pin. That pin will be inserted into the fuse panel that you indicated as having 12+ reading. As for the fuse themselves, it does not matter what direction they are inserted into the Add-A-Fuse tap. Hope that helps those that were asking.

you should point out that fuse taping is only safe for very low amperage devices such as dashcams , if you use a fuse tap for high amperage demand you can damage the cars electrical system. for high amperage devices you need to isolate the circuit with a relay and get power directly from the battery, and use the fuse tap to trigger the relay .
@Thedashcamstore
@Thedashcamstore 5 лет назад
Hi Rafa, thank you for sharing that information. Considering the context of the video, we only suggest using the fuse taps with dashcams.
@VROneUK

The orientation of the Fuse tap is important!... Looks like you got both fuse-taps the wrong way around - however - which way the fuse goes around doesn't matter.
@Thedashcamstore
@Thedashcamstore Год назад
Hi there! In the traditional sense, yes, the fuse taps do have a 'correct' orientation. The reason we stated the orientation is not important in this sense is due to the fact that there is still an in-line fuse in the BlackVue power cable that is between the camera and the fuse tap. Therefore, the secondary fuse tap fuse is actually redundant. We hope that clarifies our statement.

It's important to say it actually matters which orientation to plug in the fuse taps. If the fuse tap blade is plugged in the wrong side it'll bypass the fuse and it will have constant power leavening you without protection incase of a short or overload.

@Thedashcamstore
@Thedashcamstore 7 лет назад
Thanks for watching! The risk of inadvertently setting off an airbag while routing a cable near them is extremely low (it takes a *significant* impact event to trigger the airbag system in a vehicle). It wouldn't hurt to disconnect your vehicle battery before the installation process, for a bit of added insurance if you like.

Hi GabeMoltes, thanks for watching. You may need to extend the black ground wire if there is not a good ground point within reach of the Power Magic Pro. Actually the orientation of a fuse into a fuse slot is inconsequential as the fuse is just a link between two +power wires that enables the flow of voltage/amperage from the battery source to the load.

@Thedashcamstore

+Prajat Gupta You will need to use the fuse that comes in the fuse tap since this is a new circuit that is only for the dashcam. The test light is a very inexpensive tool (less than 10 dollars) that we recommend, it will save a good bit of time rather than the trial-and-error approach!

Even if the vehicle is off for several days?
@Thedashcamstore
@Thedashcamstore 8 лет назад
+Jordan Robinson That's the beauty of the Power Magic Pro, it will watch your truck's battery voltage when the engine is off, and if it gets below 12 or 11.8v, it will turn the camera off so that your battery won't be dead when you return. A strong car battery will have no problem powering this system for several days without issue.

The only thing I don’t like about doubling up fuses is you are drawing to many amps through the cable. To many amps could cause a fire if the cable isn’t able to handle that amount of amps.

Is there a way to measure if i can go down to 12v. Also my schematic in the pro manual differs from yours and i have settings 12v, 12.5v, 22,8v, 23,2v. and you have this 1:46

I did not understand why you do not connect to the fuses which have current even without the key on the ignition so that the dashcam is connected continuously .. thank you for your answer!

At counter 14:00 - You claim that "if what to film from 'inside' the car, we can simply ROTATE the cam." But when I told this to my installer, he says that (with proper orientation for outside veiwing), rotating the cam from viewing outside to the inside as YOU DEMONSTRATE in the video, would invert the source view and rocrd upside down. So which is it?
@Thedashcamstore
@Thedashcamstore 7 лет назад
+ Clan Killas Gaming! Technically, you and your installer are correct: rotating the cam from viewing outside to the inside would invert the source view and record upside down. We're saying one quick solution would be to rotate the camera to record inside your vehicle. The recorded image will be upside down, but the image can easily be flipped the right way using the BlackVue playback software. Hope that helps!

Hi James Martin, with a convertible you may be better off mounting the rear-facing cam in the front windshield (facing backwards of course), as shown in this example: www.thedashcamstore.com/blackvue-dr650s-2ch-ir-dashcam-and-power-magic-pro-nissan-gt-r/

The Dashcam Store That makes perfect sense. I was over thinking it and trying to figure out how to shape a bracket to mount off the area between the rear seats (2017 Camaro). There is enough room to position both near the rear view mirror. My only other challenge is the fuse box is under the hood.

@Thedashcamstore
@Thedashcamstore Год назад
@jetvlog
@jetvlog 8 лет назад
Is the supplied fuse included in the fuse tap 5 amp? Is this safe for the PM Pro? Can you confirm as the PM Pro guide appears to suggest 2 amp as a maximum?
@Thedashcamstore
@Thedashcamstore 8 лет назад
+jetvlog Depending on the type of fuse tap, the rating of the fuse we include will be either 2, 3, or 5 amps. The rating of this fuse is not significant since the BlackVue in-line fuse (in the power cord) is still retained when the Power Magic Pro is used. So yes, these fuse taps, even with 5amp fuses, are completely safe to use with the BlackVue system!

Question. Why you have 5 amp in the fuse a tab and tab into a 15 amp, shouldn't both be 15 amps in the fuse a tab ?
@Thedashcamstore
@Thedashcamstore 6 лет назад
The fuse tap is "adding" a new, independent circuit to the fuse box, therefore the fuse rating does not need to be identical.

Great video, I am going to install a dr 750(instead of the 900 series because the 750 does better in the heat) on my Tahoe, same model also. The only minor problem I see is that when installing it this way you can no longer open the rear glass window while keeping the whole tailgate down. there is no slack in the wire to allow you to open the window or it will pull on the wire. But I hardly ever just open the rear glass anyways so not really a big deal. if you left some slack to allow the rear window to open separate from the tailgate it would not be a clean looking install as there would be a few inches of excess wire hanging down when the rear window is closed. I am correct here? I can't think of a solution to this problem. Again thank man for the diy video

Hi, I am driving a Dodge Charger SRT and the two fuse boxes are in the hood and in the trunk. Where would you recommend to put the Power Magic Pro so that it is close to one of them? Also what would I have to do for the cable management?
@Thedashcamstore
@Thedashcamstore 8 лет назад
+joseaxe You definitely want to use the trunk fuse box since the Power Magic Pro box isn't designed to be waterproof. With the length of the camera power cord and the Power Magic Pro wire harness, you shouldn't have any problems routing the cable to the front windshield. We'd recommend doing just like the video, route the cables along the headliner, but you'd need to pass them through from the trunk area to the cabin first.
@joseaxe
@joseaxe 8 лет назад
+The Dashcam Store You say to put the control module itself in the trunk as well? or that the cables are long enough to route it all the way from the trunk to under the driver seat so that it is easily accessible?
@Thedashcamstore
@Thedashcamstore 8 лет назад
+joseaxe Placing the control module in the trunk would be the most simple solution. If having the control module in the trunk is not ideal for you, you can always use a bit of 22 or 24awg wire to extend the wire harness such that you can place the control module closer to the driver.

You have a couple of options. You can install the Power Magic Pro control box in the trunk, or you can extend the yellow, red, and black wires from the Power Magic Pro wire harness to reach the trunk fuse box.
