At about 2:45 pm on Friday, a woman pulled out of the Ike Store on FM 3083 at Wigginsville Road. As she did she turned south, traveling in the northbound lane of traffic. A Ford Aerostar Van owned by an aquarium company and fully loaded with aquarium supplies swerved into the southbound lanes to avoid the female. Just as he swerved, she went into the correct southbound lane. The van clipped the front t of her 1998 Grand Marque and slammed into a utility pole supporting three large Entergy transformers. The poles and transformers collapsed causing the transformers to burst into flames. A Montgomery County Precinct 2 Deputy was seconds behind and was able to pull the two males from the burning van. Caney Creek and EMC Fire responded and were able to extinguish the blaze after an extensive period of time. A church daycare within 100 yards of the scene was told to shelter in place due to the heavy black smoke being put off by the blaze. The female and the two males from the truck were transported to the hospital in stable condition. Montgomery County Precinct 2, which worked the crash is investigating the possibility of the female being impaired. Entergy and Hazmat teams remain on the scene and will for many hours as poles and transformers need to be replaced. FM 3083 reopened after 5p. During the time of the blaze a female motorist was traveling on Wigginsville Road went around the Caney Creek Batallion Chiefs truck, drove over the fire hose, and started to travel south on FM 3083. She was quickly stopped and given a citation.
